TH 6.5 II SAX

TOTAL TRANSPARENCY

The TH 6.5 II Sax was born from a blank sheet with the aim of overcoming all the limits dictated by compromise-oriented design choices. This philosophy allowed us to obtain extreme performance and a design projected into the future, faithful to the inspiring principle of maximum transparency of the musical message. 

MAXIMUM LINEARITY, MINIMUM INDUCTANCE, EXCELLENT VENTILATION

The magnetic circuit uses a N48 “H-grade” Neodymium magnet that releases a very high quantity of energy and is ultra stable in temperature, ensuring an unparalleled dynamic.  The geometry of the magnetic group has been optimized through a finite element simulation software to maximize efficiency by concentrating the magnetic field in the gap.  A great deal of research has been carried out to reduce the modulation of the voice coil inductance by magnetically saturating the motor pole and using an aluminium short-circuit ring that also allows a greater extension towards the mid frequencies.

TOTAL ABSENCE OF MECHANICAL COMPRESSION

The development of the suspension system, a crucial element for each transducer, required a long research work: the development team created computational models to simulate every aspect of the multi-physical behavior of the loudspeaker.  The spider was designed thanks to a long series of mechanical simulations performed to define its structure: a large elastic surface with 5 waves, ensuring an improved distribution of the elastic force ; waves profile and gluing optimized to obtain the best symmetry in the voice coil and basket connection areas ; spider composition made of a mix of two fibers to achieve the best elastic linearity , without mechanical compression effects even at high excursion levels.

Like the spider, the surround was also designed using mechanical simulations. The result is guaranteed by: use of natural rubber IIR; profile optimized to ensure wide excursion; maximization of linear elastic behavior without mechanical compression effects.

TOTAL ABSENCE OF THERMAL COMPRESSION

The 50 mm mobile coil in CCAR (Copper Clad Aluminum Ribbon) , wound with flat wire to obtain a very compact winding, maximizes the force factor and at the same time allows for optimal heat dissipation.

TOTAL ABSENCE OF AERODYNAMIC COMPRESSION

The mechanical structure of the TH 6.5 II is a perfect combination of design and performance. The aluminium alloy basket incorporates all the components ensuring high precision in the various couplings. The structure featuring four pairs of spokes allows for solidity and damping of the vibrations offering very low resistance to the cone air flow. The wide spider distributes the elastic load optimally. A generously sized hole, protected by a filter cloth, prevents air compression phenomena under the spider, eliminating deleterious resonance at medium frequencies.  The central opening in the bottom-plate ensures optimal decompression of the air column inside the voice coil and the output expanded material diffuses the turbulences and protects it from ingoing foreign bodies.

The TH 6.5 sax captures the listener with its sound quality, timbre accuracy and impulsive response. The X-pulp cone, produced using cellulose pulp and a glass fibre mesh, provides the highest rigidity with the warm and detailed sound typical of cellulose. The high precision mechanical parts were created by machining solid one piece material, including a REN (Rare Earth Neodymium) magnet. The single layer, flat wire, edge wound voice coil enhances the compact size and light weight of the mobile group while still maintaining unmatched thermal dissipation. The anti-resonant die cast alloy basket, the aerodynamic profile of the spokes, together with the "open-air" design drastically reduce back wave reflections. Transparency, a direct inheritance of the HV venti, is the principle that inspired the creation of Thesis speakers, born with the ambitious goal of giving voice to the pure musical message of Thesis electronics. The search for the best acoustic result was based on overcoming the intrinsic limits of traditional loudspeakers. Through a finite element simulation software (FEM) conceived by the Audison R&D team, a mathematical model was developed, which they used to create, with an intense prototyping activity, the ideal transducer.

The TH 6.5 II Sax was born from a blank sheet with the aim of overcoming all the limits dictated by compromise-oriented design choices. This philosophy allowed us to obtain extreme performance and a design projected into the future, faithful to the inspiring principle of maximum transparency of the musical message. 

MAXIMUM LINEARITY, MINIMUM INDUCTANCE, EXCELLENT VENTILATION

The magnetic circuit uses a N48 H-grade Neodymium magnet that releases a very high quantity of energy and is ultra stable in temperature, ensuring an unparalleled dynamic. The geometry of the magnetic group has been optimized through a finite element simulation software to maximize efficiency by concentrating the magnetic field in the gap. A great deal of research has been carried out to reduce the modulation of the voice coil inductance by magnetically saturating the motor pole and using an aluminium short-circuit ring that also allows a greater extension towards the mid frequencies.

• 50 mm mobile voice coil in CCAR (Copper Clad Aluminum Ribbon) wound with flat wire to maximize the force factor and heat dissipation.
• Low inductance of the mobile voice coil to optimize the emission in medium-high band (2-3 kHz).
• N48 “H-grade neodymium magnet with superb thermal stability to guarantee an optimal dynamic reserve in every situation.

I would probably take the money and fund my roth ira for 2021 and grab some dayton audio drivers for my '94 accord..  

Lol! I don't have an opinion either way, because I'm right there with @lithium . Maybe someone who has heard both will chime in soon.  

@bladest you really aren’t letting this non acoustically treated door midbass thing die are you. If you spent half the time researching how to deaden doors as you’re spending begging for someone to suggest drivers worth more than your car you would have decent midbass response in your car with what you “say” you have already, geez louise man…  

After speakers are choosen brand new amp will be bought for them and they will taken into the best possible audio installation shop which exist in bg, so they can install properly speakers, and do the sound isolation of the doors for small fortune, probably the price of the speakers or even more. So rest assured everything will be made to the book , just need information which speakers to choose. I am always REAL you can expand and read my full signature. The topic is no joke it will help me decide which speakers to buy. audioson or focal.

I am working very hard to achieve everything i own. Rest assured with that. i like music so much thats why i plan to expand my audio gear even more.  

Is there a reason you can’t treat the doors or the entire car yourself and save money? The shop will make money either way but for them to tell you to buy the most expensive speakers and not treat the doors is a red flag to move along.  

Op’s first post was very similar, said the local shop wanted ungodly amounts of money to deaden the doors and that deadening wouldn’t be anywhere near as beneficial as a new pair of ultra high end midbass drivers. None of this makes sense and to add to the nonsensical he has been a member for a decade. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I see now we’re gonna deaden🤷🏼‍♂️🤔👏🏼  

Thesis. I had a chance to listen to Focal Utopia... oh no! the tweeter is very harsh. The car was not tuned properly but you can actually listen the character of the tweeter. I also listend to Thesis. Sounds really nice on the upper range. very fittable for long hours listening.  

Those focal tweeters are actually amazing after tuning and proper installation. Yes they need attenuation but that's all taken care of with your EQ bands in the dsp...and another little trick that's particular to that driver.  

Great question, I am currently running four of the Focal Utopia 6.5 Woofers (from the Focal 165W-XP sets), two in my front doors and two in my rear doors. I was also considering swapping them out for the Sax, but my local installer (who is an authorized dealer for BOTH brands) did feel there would be much of a gain. Especially because the SAX would require my bridging two channels to feed it 200+ wpc and my 2 ohm Utopias are find with 130wpc. Looking at the specs, the Sax are listed as having 40-4.5k, while the Focal 6.5 6WM are listed as 60-6k. I'd go with the Sax to get more low end...

I used to own a 97 Accord 4 door. It was my ex wife's car when we were still married. She hit a deer and messed up the front fender, bumper, headlight and hood so I bought her a Jetta and kept the Honda. Repainted the car black, did the whole JDM everything including an h22 swap and deadened the whole car with dynamat. Then came the system. A 450/4 v1 running morel elate 6 3way separates active and a 1000/1 v1 running a pair of 12w6v2's. I had made custom panels for the doors out of fiberglass to accommodate the 6 inch midbasses. Seemed pretty sturdy but had a horrible null at like 90-130 hz that completely **** on the midbass. I spent 2 grand on those drivers and they didn't sound any better than the pioneer ts-d coaxials I had before because no matter what we did the door would rattle. It doesn't matter if you spend 10 grand on each driver. They'll only ever sound as good as the application will allow for, no matter what. Even if you were to make enclosures in the doors you'll still have a null due to the acoustics of that particular vehicle. With that said, the focal drivers do excel in an open door or ib application so with deadening They'll do ok at lower power levels but spending that much to put it in a door is silly IMHO. You'd do better with something cheaper and just make sure your install is up to snuff.  

Here is little update, usa accord , have nothing simular to european accord european was made in the uk different body a lot of rust different engines, even some suspensions are different etcs... Regarding the parts, since they were never imported here in bg, no shop sales them or cant order them , i currently have focal utopia be tweeters old utopia be not m series, so some claim , better go with focal because it will match speakers , is this true ? Regarding why i drive old car, i drive my car 12 years now, i have driven many newer and even luxury cars for exept faster engines brakes, more airbags and systems they doesnt have anything better, most new cars doesnt have front and rear double wishbone suspension for example, at least here in europe, cost cutting measures they audio even premium audio from infiniti bose, or jaguar merdian, or lexus mark levinson doesnt impressed me compared to p99rs and my stuff ,also to maintain them to insure them parts everything is way more expensive, i also drive my old car on lpg,which is eco friendly and cheaper, also newer cars have more plastics which brake after time even their headlights are made of plastic mine are made of glass everybody have their own prefferences. So guys do you think old focal utopia be berrylium tweeters i got installed in my front of my car will match better focal utopia m speakers or audioson is the way to go ?  

If you already have focal tweeter why not go with Utopia. Mid and woofer sound really good though.  

Why not the Brax ML6? I have heard the Matrix 6.1’s in my car and another - they hit like subs if the door is treated properly - mine isn’t - but the other car I heard them in was spectacular - kept on thinking what’s the point of sub in this car… As the midbass was so strong and played so low… really phenomenal Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Disclaimer: I read 1/16” of this thread. Don’t spend that much money on speakers without hearing them first. If you can afford them you’ve got to be able to afford a trip somewhere to listen to them (even if it’s just an A/B comparison in a wall). That’d be like decidedly between buying two overly expensive cars that have been heavily modified without knowing what the mods are or what the purpose of them is. You could be getting something extremely nice or you could be getting a really nice drag car that requires 5k in work every 5k miles. Not a direct comparison but it gets the point across.  

Yeah agreed, personally I find the focals unpleasant, overly bright. Dynaudio hitting the right blend for me. Personal preference though, like I always rate Linn over Naim.  

Okay, so after a conversation with the original poster: He already has the Focal Utopia tweeters and he lives in a country where he can’t listen to these speakers before purchasing them. So, I told him I think he should base his decision on how much he likes the tweeters. I.e. if he really likes them he should probably go with the Focal mids (since listening to the tweeters is the next best thing to listening to the mids, unless I’m wrong?). If he’s so-so then maybe try the Audisons. That’s the best advice I can give. Hopefully someone can do better or at least second my advice. I don’t know if everything I’ve said has already been stated in this thread (haven’t had time to read it all).  

Really hard to say without the complete stack I'd say. Focal is very bright, sharp and many would say detailed sound. What it then lacks is warmth, and depth. They chose that sound signature, and many love it - great for jazz IMO. Dynaudio is more flat relaxed sound, large soft dome tweeters etc, a very 'studio' sound. To my ears they're natural, warm and rhythmic - to others they might come across dull. Not heard the audison speakers, but their amps are great, smooth but punchy. I suspect given OP location, he's going to need to describe the timbre he's after and go on trust from recommendations.  

Focal isn’t bright…. It’s all about install and tuning. I had a Kit 7 that sounded like butter on heavy metal music… But install them wrong and tune them incorrectly and they will rip your ears off… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I disagree, yes they can be tamed, but home to studio to car they like an upfront sound. Silk Vs beryllium properties wise.

With Focal TBE tweeters already purchased, I would go with Focal Midbass. Focal is good know for awesome midbass..... but only if install will compliment the equipment. I would rather go with Brax set or something else, but since OP choose only two options - Fecal or Audison, I would rather go with Fecal  

I have some bad or good news, so far dealership told me we dont work with focal, and they can deliver me audison at much better discounted price, i can bring focal on my own but price difference will be 80% more expensive, is audison thesis sax ii 6.5" worth is for 600$ ? brand new. utopia m speakers will cost me around 1200$ brand new.

Focal for me.  

I love my Focal M's, but they are only playing from 80hz to 400hz in a 3 way front stage. Haven't heard the Audison but my guess is they are great as well If it were me I would go with the one that is cheaper, but a nice feature of the Focal's is they are quite a shallow depth.  

I've got an older honda accord and have just ordered a set of micro precision 7 series 2 ways, sounded awesome in the sellers demo car.
