Students-Log In

Note: Your organization may be using single sign on (SSO) login credentials to access Holt McDougal Online . If so , you simply log in once to access all of your organization's platforms. Specific steps may vary, but typically, after logging into your organization's account, you open HMO using your organization's platform portal.

For non-SSO users, follow the Holt McDougal Online -specific instructions provided below.

Before you begin . . .

You must have your username and password prior to logging in. If you have not yet received your username and password or if y ou forgot have forgotten them, contact your teacher for help.

To log in to Holt McDougal Online :

1.      Open Holt McDougal Online by navigating to the following URL: http://my.hrw.com . The Welcome to Holt McDougal Online page appears.

2.      If you are not a United States user, click the Location information link, and then use the lists to select your Country and Organization .

3.      Type your Username and Password .

Note: If you are logging in for the first time, you may have to select your state and organization.

Your Organization may be your district, diocese, or independent school name.

To help you find your Organization name, note the following:

–        HMH uses the official name of an organization or district, not the common or simplified name.

–        Some large school districts are broken up into units, such as sub-districts, areas, regions, and so on. In most cases HMH ignores these units and lists all schools for a district under the main District name.

–        Catholic schools are listed under their Diocese or Archdiocese.

–        Other generic categories appear in the Organization list, such as Private Schools, Charter Schools, State Operated Schools, Regional Centers, and so on.

5.      Click Log In .

–        If this is your permanent password, your Holt McDougal Online home page appears.

–        If you have received a temporary password, the Student Password Reset page appears. (See the instructions below to reset your password.)

To reset your password:

Password Requirements:

–        Must be at least 5 characters long

–        Can include any numbers or letters and most special characters (such as !@#$%)

–        Case sensitive (Be sure to remember if you capitalized any letters.)

–        No spaces permitted

2.      Retype your new password in the Confirm your new password field.

Important: Be sure to remember your password; for security purposes, it will not appear again.

3.      Click Save . Your Holt McDougal Online home page appears.

Depending on your setup, your home page may be either the Dashboard or the My Subscriptions page.

Once a teacher has activated Writable and accessed Writable from my.hrw.com , students can begin logging in as well.

1. Students will go to my.hrw.com and select 'Writable for Collections' (#1 below) in the drop-down menu.

2. Students will click on the Writable icon (#2 below).

3. Once students arrive in Writable, they will see assignments from their teacher. If the teacher has not assigned yet, they will see a message saying "There's nothing assigned to this class at the moment." (below)
