Several great freedom fighters later struggled and dedicated their entire lives to India’s freedom.

The sacrifices of all the freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Khudi Ram Bose, and Chandra Sekhar Azad, who lost their lives at an early age just to fight for their country, can never be forgotten.

Good morning to our esteemed guests, respected teachers, and dear friends,

Today, we gather to celebrate India's Independence Day. I am truly honored to share my thoughts on this special occasion. I am very grateful to my teacher for giving me this opportunity to speak on our country's Independence Day.

On this day, India gained freedom from British rule through peaceful and nonviolent movements. The British ruled over us for 200 years, coming to India for trade but instead exploiting our nation and its people. Our ancestors fought hard for many years before India achieved independence on August 15, 1947.

In closing, I pay my respects to those brave souls with a quote from Sarojini Naidu:

“A country’s greatness lies in its undying ideal of love and sacrifice that inspire the mothers of the race.”

Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.

Short and simple Independence Day Speech

Good morning to respected Sir/Madam and everyone present here,

Today, we come together to honour the bravery of our freedom fighters on Independence Day. This day is not just a date on the calendar; it symbolizes India’s courage, resilience, and unbreakable spirit.

Independence Day is celebrated on August 15 each year, marking the day India gained freedom from British rule through nonviolent protests and civil disobedience.

The struggle for independence began during World War I, led by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

From 1857 to 1947, our history is filled with revolutions and the sacrifices of great leaders and freedom fighters.

The Indian Independence Bill was introduced in the British House of Commons on July 4, 1947, and was passed within two weeks, ending over 200 years of British rule on August 15, 1947.

This Bill led to the creation of India and Pakistan as separate nations.

August 15 reminds us of the immense sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, including Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Sekhar Azad, and many others, known and unknown, who fought to free India from British colonial rule.

Our freedom fighters dreamed of an independent India, and their dreams became a reality. Remember, never stop dreaming, as dreams are what keep us alive.

On this Independence Day, let us promise to protect our country by upholding unity, helping others, and continuing our education. I will conclude my speech with these lines:

"Freedom in mind, faith in words. Pride in our hearts, memories in our souls. Let’s salute the nation on Independence Day!"

Bharat Mata ki Jai. Vande Mataram. Jai Hind.

Independence Day Speech in Hindi |

Long Independence Day Speech for Kids 500 Words In English

Good Morning. Welcome to the Independence Day celebration at our school.

In this national celebration day, we should all feel proud of being a part of India. India is an independent nation that gives us the freedom to follow all our rights, including the right to education and the right to speech.

For almost 200 years, we were under the rule of the British Government. They treated us like slaves, tortured us, and destroyed our money and resources. But after all the struggles, with the help of our freedom fighters, Indians fought for their rights and freedom.

Almost 73 years ago, on 15th August 1947, India finally got Independence from British rule. For the first time, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted India’s flag on the Red Fort. Since then, India celebrates Independence Day across the nation.

India was once full of resources. We had full of minerals, and India was known for its leading spice market in the world. These reasons attracted the British Government to capture India and use all the resources for their purposes, as at the beginning, manipulating Indians was an easy task.

With the implementation of different policies, the country came under the rule of British people. They started torturing us and forced us to become slaves to them. With the help of divide and rule policy, they induced conflicts among Indians.

Few renowned freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, and Jawaharlal Nehru emerged as leaders to engage and inspire everybody so that they can fight for their rights, making all the sacrifices. After that, every Indian participated actively in the freedom movements to aim for an independent nation.

Independence gave us many benefits, including all the rights to freedom, speech, education, and many more. Without our freedom fighters, gaining Independence against the British rule was quite impossible. For us, it was a beautiful gift of Independent India from our martyrs. So, it is now our responsibility to value Independence by doing pure deeds like cleaning, keeping our environment clean, helping the people in need, and maintaining all the rules and regulations of our constitution.

Schools, colleges, education institutes, Government and private organizations arrange different cultural programs, to make the day memorable. Our main motive for the day is to remember the significant contributions of our freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for us, to make our country an independent nation.

The arm forces of our country, arrange parades every year to showcase India’s superpower in front of the world. We also pay our tributes to our army, who are still protecting us from enemies from India’s borders.

Lastly, I would like to say; the young generation is our future for the country. With youth’s talents and efforts towards the country, India can succeed more in the future. We need to understand the importance of patriotism and the importance of Independence Day in our country. Together in Unity, we can strengthen our nation for a beautiful future.

Short Independence Day Speech for Kids 150 Words In English

Short Independence Day Speech for Kids 150 Words In English

Happy Independence Day to all.

It is a bright morning with patriotism in everybody’s heart. But about 73 years ago, India wasn’t an independent country, and it was under the rule of the British Government.

Indians were tortured, captured, and were forced to be slaves.

The anger inside the Indians led to the emergence of some freedom fighters who felt the need to enlighten Indians about India’s condition. They engaged Indians in the freedom struggles and movements until they received the victory of freedom.

Freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi did a lot of freedom movements to gain Independence, including the salt march movement, the Non-cooperation movement, and the civil disobedience movement.

Finally, on 15th August 1947, we got our freedom from the hands of the British Government. This day is a memorable one, making us remember the extreme sacrifices of our martyrs. We need to maintain our Unity for making our country Strong.

Independence Day

Independence Day, which falls on August 15th, is a significant national holiday in India. It commemorates the day that India was emancipated from British rule in 1947. Schools throughout the nation celebrate this day with tremendous fervor, planning a range of activities, such as speeches, to help children develop a feeling of patriotism and historical awareness.

Independence Day’s significance goes beyond its historical foundation. It represents the triumph of equality, fairness, and the spirit of harmony among the many ethnic groups that make up India. The nation as a whole celebrates the day with great zeal and patriotism. Parades, cultural events, flag-hoisting ceremonies, and national song singing are all essential components of the festivities. One of the most important highlights is the Prime Minister’s speech from Delhi’s Red Fort, which reflected on the country’s achievements and goals for the future.

On Independence Day, we remember not just our history but also the principles of democracy and freedom that underpin our country. It encourages people to consider the history of the country, honor its rich cultural legacy, and preserve its values.

Struggle for freedom from British rule

India’s fight for independence from British domination is a story of tenacity, selflessness, and unyielding resolve. The British East India Company founded commercial posts in India in the early 17th century, which is when British colonialism there first began. The company gradually increased its power through economic domination and military might, leading to the Battle of Plassey in 1757, which signaled the start of British political rule in India.

Native Americans’ unhappiness grew during the 19th century as a result of economic exploitation and cruel laws. The First War of Indian Independence also referred to as the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, was a momentous early uprising against British rule. Even though it was eventually put down, it gave Indians a sense of solidarity and nationalism.

Important roles were played in the freedom struggle by notable figures including Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhas Chandra Bose, and many others. The movement was further driven by the sacrifices made by many liberation warriors who accepted martyrdom, such as Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev. India eventually gained its long-awaited independence on August 15, 1947, a historic event that was met with great pride and excitement. The Indian people’s unwavering quest for justice and equality, seen through their freedom movement, is a monument to their resilient character.

Today it’s our 72 nd Independence Day and we should feel proud to be a part of an Independent nation that has freedom of speech, freedom to live life in our own way. We do not have to follow anybody’s slavery. But this was not the case 72 years ago when we were a slave to the British Government. India has been ruled by Britishers for almost 200 years and after a continuous struggle by our freedom fighters, we achieved independence on 15 th august 1947. On this day, the national flag was hoisted on red fort Delhi by Prime Minister Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. Since then we are celebrating Independence Day in every government department, school, and college. This is a day of pride and joy for every citizen of the country.

Welcome Speech for Independence Day

How we achieved Independence

India was once called “Sone ki chidiya” which means that we had abundant resources. Our land was productive, we have ample of minerals and rocks. We were home to the largest spice market. We also have a productive human workforce. This made the British government capture our country and use it for our own benefits.

They conspired against us through the “Divide and Rule policy” and slowly gained control over the country. The people of our country being illiterate and ignorant were easily deceived by Britishers and they gained control of our kingdoms. We became cheap slaves to the British government and thus they ruled us for many years.

Later on, some eminent personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Bhagat Singh and many more realized that we should fight for our rights. Later on, many freedom struggles took place and everybody participated in it. After years of fight, struggles, and hard work we finally gained freedom on 15 th August 1947 and became a free and independent nation.

Value of Independence

Being independent means freedom to speech and freedom to fundamental rights to each and every citizen of the country. Independence is important to lead a life of freedom. In the absence of independence, we would become a slave.  All the people should value the independence which we have achieved and should never forget our freedom fighters.

Independence and Responsibility of Citizens

The citizens of an independent nation also hold responsibility towards it. All the citizens of the country should realize their responsibility to build a nation of pride. One should fulfill their responsibility by doing simple deeds such as keeping the roads and surroundings clean, plant more trees, help poor people in need, following traffic rules, etc. A responsible citizen is a valuable citizen.

Activities  on Independence Day

Independence Day is also a day to show to the world the history of courage and bravery which our country has achieved. On this day our security forces do the parade and march past on red fort, we also show our fighting equipment to the world thus making India a superpower on the global platform. Various schools and colleges also arrange many no.of dance competitions, fancy dress, cultural events to celebrate independence day.

The independence which we have received is the result of fights and sacrifices of our freedom fighters. We should never forget this. Patriotism is above everything and we should inculcate a feeling of patriotism in our children since early childhood.

We should also teach our younger generations to respect our soldiers and also encourage them to have a career in national security. At last, I again wish you all happy independence day and hope together we can build a wonderful nation.

Dear Rohini,
Greetings from your friend in the village. I hope you are doing well. As you know, last year our country celebrated its 77th Independence Day. Similarly, our school has also celebrated this day magnificently. I wanted to share the way we celebrated this patriotic day in our school.

The day before the festival, we decorated the entire school with tricolour flags, balloons and ribbons. Our teachers told us about the significance of Independence Day and the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. We also had a drawing competition on the theme ´Independent India´ in our school. I made a drawing showing the tricolour flag and got the third prize in the competition.

The event started with the flag-hosting ceremony, where the school Principal hosted the national flag and the entire school, standing tall, sang the national anthem. After this, there were cultural performances like singing, dancing, and skits based on the theme of Independence. As you very well know, I have been practising dancing for this event. I danced to the patriotic song ¨Ae Watan¨ and got a huge round of applause from the audience.

In the evening, the whole village gathered for the Independence Day celebration. Many people lit candles in the evening to mark the special day. It was an unforgettable Independence Day for me.
I hope you also had a fun-filled Independence Day in your town school. Convey my wishes to all your friends there. Please come and visit our village school during your vacation. We will have so much fun.

Your Friend,
Shivanshu

Dear Anju,I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this letter to share my experience with the Independence Day celebrations.
Our town was decorated beautifully this year with the national flag, pinwheels and flower arrangements. The theme of this year’s Independence Day celebration was ‘ . To make the day more interesting we had a quiz and debate competition around the theme in the week before Independence Day. You would be happy to know that I won second prize in the quiz.
On the morning of 15th August, we all gathered in our assembly ground for the flag hoisting ceremony. Our chief guest was the Mayor of the town. Some students gave wonderful speeches on freedom, equality and national integrity. I felt very inspired by hearing their voices. After this, we want the national anthem together.
In the afternoon, we had a cultural programme. There were dances, plays, songs, and music performances by the joint efforts of students of all classes. My friends and I performed a play about how kids can work towards an Independent India. Everyone cheered loudly on our wonderful performance. This was followed by the distribution of prizes for all the competitions held during the week.
After the cultural events, we all went to gaze at the beauty of the beautifully decorated school garden which was specially decorated for Independence Day night with lanterns and tricolour fountains. It was the most memorable Independence Day I have had. I felt so lucky to be born in this great nation.
I hope you also had fun on this patriotic day in your school. Do share your story about the Independence Day celebration in your writing.
