Choose a memorable moment you had this summer and start crafting your essay, giving as many details as possible.

Choosing a Topic

• These can also make nice visual aids if you are asked to present your essay.

• A list might be full of things like babysitting, attending a camp, working at a local store, taking a road trip, etc. This type of brainstorming can help you pick major events and other important moments from your summer.

• For example, maybe you spent your summer traveling around Japan. Think of a memorable moment you had while traveling — maybe you walked up a mountain in the pouring rain — and write about this moment, adding lots of details.

• For example, if you're writing about spending time at the beach, your outline could remind you to talk about the sandcastle building contest you entered, the dolphins you saw, and the ice cream you ate every day.

Save Mementos From Your Summer

Even if you’re not the sentimental type, make sure to document your summer travels. Take pictures, write diary entries, save train stubs. This is the best way to ensure that you’ll remember your summer well enough to look back and write about it later.

Write an Outline Before Writing Your Essay

Regardless of whether you spent your summer break in Madison, Wisconsin or Madrid, Spain, you should plan out what you’re going to write before diving in. Make a list of what you’ve done over the summer so that you can later narrow down a focus for the essay itself. Keep in mind that the best essay topics aren’t always on the most exciting activities an essay about getting stuck in traffic on the way to the airport on the way to Denver could work better than an essay on hiking the Grand Canyon and looking out at the incredible view.

Be Specific

Since you’re going to keep a record of your trip and come up with an outline before writing your essay, you should be able to put some detail into your essay. If you’re talking about some gelato that you ate in Italy, don’t say that it was “delicious.” Instead, say that it was “creamy and chocolatey, with a note of vanilla.”

If you spent the summer on the beach in Cape Cod, you shouldn’t write about what you did. You should write instead about how you felt while there. An essay that reads “I went to beach, then had lobster for dinner” is not quite as exciting as one that goes, “As I went for a walk on the beach, I thought about how lucky I was to be able to enjoy nature.” Feelings translate better into text than events, and you should try to place those feelings into context.

Stick to Writing About a Small Moment

With any essay you write especially a short one it’s important to focus a narrow moment in time. Don’t write about your entire week in Paris. Instead, write about the moment you got lost in the city at midnight and fumbled your way home in the dark. You don’t have to pick a particularly glamorous moment from your trip, but you should pick one that meant something to you.

My aunt is a good painter. Every year, she teaches drawing and painting to all of us kids. We also go to a nearby dance school to learn dancing.

After spending a few days with my grandparents and cousins, my parents take me on holiday. Every year, we visit different tourist places, and this year, we plan to go to Goa and spend a few days enjoying the sun, sand and the sea . We plan on exploring the lush waters while trying out some fun new water sports and activities. We also want to walk around old Goa, taking in the architecture and natural beauty and shop from street vendors. We usually return home a few days before the summer vacation ends. • Andaman And Nicobar Islands: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a tropical paradise known for their pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rich marine biodiversity.

Essay Sample on What I Did This Summer

If there’s one word that every student loves to hear is “Vacations” because let’s be real, that’s the best time of the year, is it not? The days out almost endlessly before you with nothing like deadlines to meet and quizzes to prepare for on your mind. And if there’s someone who loves vacations more than anyone else, it’s me. And Oh boy, did I have the time of my life the last summer break I got and here is what I did this summer!

As soon as I got done with my exams, the durst thing I did was heave a huge sigh of relief and collapsed on my bed, exhausted from all the work I’d had to put in the semester. After a quick nap (Okay, not so short rest, I dozed off for four hours), I got up and immediately decided to start planning on how I was preparing to spend my vacations. I called my best friend Ali, with whom I had planned a trip since the school year, and immediately started planning and sorting out the details.

We agreed on a trip to the northern areas of the country and began preparations for it immediately. Two of our other very close friends and we were due to leave by the end of the week, and with barely five more days to go got packing immediately. We left by train on a hot Friday afternoon and reached a cool hill station away from the hot and humid city.

And saying that we enjoyed ourselves on that trip would be nothing short of an understatement.

From white water rafting to trekking on narrow mountain trails, we did it all. And before we knew it, our trip came to an end. With a rather sad heart but with numerous memories made to cherish, I came back rather unfortunate that the trip had come to an end but still rather happy that I still had a month and a half worth of lazing around left to do after spending probably the best two weeks on my life up north with my closest buddies.

Now here’s a fun fact about myself. I’m an avid football player, and with my university course load and those pesky exams, I hadn’t gotten much time to play the sport I was so dearly in love with. However, a few days after I returned, the club I played for had registered to participate in a local league, which I was excited about. And in a few days, the tournament kicked off with us cruising through the tournament’s group stages.

In the meantime, I had also decided to start with a new hobby – Baking. However, needless to say, that enthusiasm of mine didn’t last very long (two burnt cakes long to be very precise), and thus I decided to focus my attention on some that were, let’s just say, more my cup of tea!

I also promised to make sure I was productive this summer break, so I decided to start a social internship, much to my parent’s delight. I filled the application forms, and the next thing I knew, I breezed through the interview and was due to start the following week. And let me tell you, that was probably one of the best experiences; working with kids at the hospital was an eye-opener for me as to his we take our health for granted. Seeing the smiles on the little kid’s face would leave me feeling accomplished from inside, and I found happiness in the fact that I was finally giving back to the community.

With my internship ending and the tournament coming to a close as well (which we managed to win, thanks to a thrilling penalty shoot-out in the final), my summer break had come to an end too. And as upset, I was at having to go back to my boring life of assignments and exams, I was very pleased that this summer was one of the finest I’ve ever had. I wish I get an opportunity to experience such times every single year.

Similarly, people also visit hilly stations to get a sigh of relief from the hot weather. My plans for this summer vacation are a bit different. When we were discussing as to where to visit this summer vacation, I chimed in to suggest we cut the trip short this year so it will make time for me to pursue my interests. I plan on taking yoga classes this summer vacation. Yoga has been very interesting to me and I have tried my hand at it a number of times. However, as they say, it requires practice and technique, I thought to enroll in classes that will teach me this art form professionally.

There are numerous benefits of yoga which I wish to earn. It is known to increase the concentration power of people. I have a hard time focusing on my studies, so I thought yoga can help me with it. There is an organization that organizes yoga classes every year with participants coming in from all over the state. I have also convinced my friends to take the classes with me so they will be more fun.

In addition, yoga makes a person flexible. As I wish to become a dancer, I need to be thoroughly flexible. Thus, yoga will surely help me achieve my dream . This way I can shoot two birds with one stone. Most importantly, yoga inculcates discipline in a person. I hope these yoga classes will make me a better and improved version of myself. Therefore, I have decided to take up yoga classes for my overall development.

Dance Classes

As I have mentioned earlier I always wanted to become a dancer. Due to my school and coaching, I never get time to work on my dream. However, this summer vacation I plan to finally work on this dream of mine.

I have already talked to the instructor who will be taking up the dance classes. This way, I will go to my yoga classes in the early morning and dance classes in the evening. Dance classes will help me polish my skills and also help me perform better.

Moreover, I lack confidence in performing on stage. Thus, I need these classes, even more, hoping they will instill confidence in me to perform on stage without any fear. Therefore, this year, I intend to utilize my time to the fullest and learn new things that will help me grow as a person.

Summer is the perfect time and season to practice writing and let it feel more like play than work. Today, I've collected a list of summer writing prompts: enough to write one per day of the season! 

A few summers ago, I led summer writing camps for kids called Write Camp. It was a blast helping kids of all ages get their fantastical ideas down on paper. My sister signed up my nephew, even though he was a reluctant third grade writer at the time. She wasn't sure he'd even participate.

I assured her that the no-pressure, fun environment would help him imagine writing in a new way, and that he would finish the summer with a story or two and a new understanding of writing.

I'm happy to report I was right! He and his fellow write campers all finished stories and left feeling more confident in their writing skills. 

Sometimes we spend so much time trying to get students to write correctly that we drain all the fun out of it. We forget that the first step to becoming a strong writer is to actually write. Try these summer writing prompts to help you (or a young writer in your life!) have some writing fun.

Summer journal prompts

If you keep a journal like me, try one of these prompts for some quick summer journaling.

Further, summer vacations give every student an event to take a rest from their daily routine, and relish time with family and friends. Students impatiently wait for summer vacations every year. They always desire to begin something worthy that separates them from the daily routine of studies and practices.

How I spent my summer vacation

This year I visited my aunt’s house which is situated in a village . I and my siblings explored the whole village. We also made friends there. We used to play outdoor games all day long. My aunt prepared different delicious dishes that I never ate before.

The taste of those dishes was mind-blowing. I can’t forget these dishes in my life. On my next visit, I will definitely demand these dishes.

Apart from that, We went to the fields Where my uncle does farming. We get to know a lot about agriculture. There were various crops in different fields. I asked my uncle about the process of farming. Also, I helped a little bit with his work. The atmosphere of a village offers us to know the real beauty of mother nature.

In conclusion, Summer vacation is an opportunity to explore new things, skills, and places. It provides you with a chance to know the world at a better level. It expands our confidence level because there is no reason to be involved only in studies. Surely school study makes us better but somewhere it creates bondage at the same time. Summer vacation gets us out of those bondages so that we can unravel our hidden talents ourselves.

I used to go to guitar classes in the middle of the day. And in the evening I practised playing a song on my new guitar. Only in two months, did I become a cool guitarist.

Also, I used to watch educational videos on Youtube related to space research. I have a great desire to explore the universe. That is the reason I want to become a space research scientist in future.
