2023 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 15ന് ഇന്ത്യ 77 ാം സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യദിനം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. നിരവധി പോരാട്ടങ്ങളിലൂടെ മഹാരധന്‍മാര്‍ നമുക്ക് നേടിത്തന്ന സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിന്റെ വില ഏറെ വലുതാണ്. മാതൃരാജ്യത്തിന്റെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായി സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസമര സേനാനികളടക്കം നിരവധി ആളുകളുടെ ജീവത്യാഗത്തിന്റെ വിലയാണ് നാമിന്ന് അനുഭവിക്കുന്ന സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം. 200 വര്‍ഷത്തോളം ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഭരണത്തിനു കീഴിലായിരുന്ന നമ്മുടെ ഭാരതം സ്വതന്ത്രമാക്കാന്‍ നിരവധി പോരാട്ടങ്ങള്‍ ഇവര്‍ നടത്തി. ആവേശത്തോടെയല്ലാതെ ഇത്തരം കഥകള്‍ നമുക്കു കേള്‍ക്കാനാവില്ല.

രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായി പോരാടിയ നമ്മുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസമര സേനാനികളുടെ എണ്ണമറ്റ ത്യാഗങ്ങളുടെ ഓര്‍മ്മപ്പെടുത്തലും കൂടിയാണ് ഈ ദിനം. എല്ലാ വര്‍ഷവും ആഗസ്റ്റ് 15 ന് ഈ ദിനം വളരെ ആര്‍ഭാടത്തോടെ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരില്‍ നിന്ന് രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായി ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസമര സേനാനികള്‍ ദീര്‍ഘവും കഠിനവുമായ പോരാട്ടം നടത്തി. അവരുടെ വാക്കുകളും മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ പോരാട്ടത്തില്‍ പ്രചോദനമായി. ധീരനേതാക്കളുടെ ചില മഹത് വചനങ്ങള്‍ ഇതാ.

9 freedom fighters from kerala.

Kerala has always been an asset to India, and people from our tiny state have gone on to make a huge impact on the fate of the country. This Independence Day, let’s look at a few Malayalis who took part in the Indian Independence Movement.

Here are some of the most prominent freedom fighters from Kerala.

K. Kumar (1894 – 1973)

K. Kumar was an orator, reformer, and writer. He was one of the first socio-political leaders to bring Gandhi’s message and the spirit of nationalism to Travancore. He was the President of the Travancore Congress Committee and played a leadership role in various agitations for freedom like the Salt Satyagraha at Kozhikode, foreign cloth boycott and picketing at Alleppey, Vaikom Satyagraha, and so on. 

K. Kelappan (1889 – 1971)

Popularly knows as the “ Kerala Gandhi ”, K. Kelappan was a founding member and president of the Nair Service Society . He is popularly remembered as a social reformer, freedom fighter, journalist, and educationalist. He and K. Kumar were one of the first people in Kerala to remove the suffix in their names that implied their caste-status. 

A.V. Kuttimalu Amma (1905-1985)

Anakkara Vadakkathu Kuttimalu Amma was a freedom fighter, social worker, and politician. She was part of major freedom agitations like the Swadeshi Movement, the Civil Disobedience Movement, and the Quit India Movement. She was arrested multiple times and imprisoned for years at stretch. But she never stopped working for the freedom movement and remained politically active; going on to serve on the All India Congress Committee and the Congress Working Committee, and get elected to the Madras Legislative Assembly twice (1936 and 1946). 

Accamma Cherian (1909-1982)

Accamma Cherian left her teaching job in February 1938 to join the newly formed Travancore State Congress. She played a major role in the Civil Disobedience Movement and even led a rally from Thampanoor to the Kowdiar Palace of the Maharaja Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma to revoke a ban on State Congress. When the British chief of police ordered to shoot at the rally, she is said to have asked them to shoot her first as she was their leader. On hearing this, Mahatma Gandhi conferred the title of “ The Jhansi Rani of Travancore ”.

Mohammed Abdur Rahiman (1898 – 1945)

Mohammad Abdur Rahman was a freedom fighter and a leader of the Indian National Congress. He participated in the Salt Satyagraha of 1930 and was lathi-charged, and sentenced to nine months of rigorous imprisonment in Kannur Central Jail.

Vakkom Moulavi (1873 – 1932)

Vakkom Mohammed Abdul Khader Moulavi, popularly known as Vakkom Moulavi, was a social reformer, teacher, scholar, journalist, freedom fighter and newspaper proprietor in Travancore. He was the founder and publisher of Swadeshabhimani , which was banned and shut down by the Government of Travancore in 1910 due to its criticism against the Government and the Diwan of Travancore, P. Rajagopalachari. 

Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai (1878 – 1916)

K. Ramakrishna Pillai was a journalist, editor, and political activist. He was an editor at Swadeshabhimani , and it was his criticisms of the Diwan that led to the newspaper getting confiscated by the state. He was arrested and exiled from Travancore in 1910.

Vaikom Muhammad Basheer (1908 – 1994)

Vaikom Muhammad Basheer admired Gandhi, who he saw at Vaikom Satyagraha. He went on to join the Congress and later went to Kozhikode to participate in the Salt Satyagraha. He was arrested there and served a period in prison. On being released, he organised an extremist movement and edited the revolutionary journal Ujjivanam (Uprising). When a warrant was issued to imprison him, he left Kerala. He returned 7 years later but was arrested and imprisoned.

V. K. Krishna Menon (1896-1974)

V. K. Krishna Menon established the India League in 1928. The India League was a Britain-based organisation that campaigned for the full independence and self-governance of India, and was the most influential and successful organisation in Britain during the 1930s and 1940s to fight against British imperialism. Post Independence, he served as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, India’s representative to the United Nations, and Minister of Defence. He wrote the first draft of Preamble to the Constitution of India, initiated the idea of Constituent Assembly of India, and is considered the architect and coined the term Non-Aligned Movement.

Krishna Menon was once asked whether India would prefer to be ruled by the British or the Nazis, he famously replied, “(one) might as well ask a fish if it prefers to be fried in butter or margarine.”

PC Kurian was a freedom fighter, lawyer, and civil rights leader, who owned a printing press that was later shut down by the British. He was involved in the Salt Satyagraha of 1930 and was lathi-charged, and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment in jail

Kuttanadu Ramakrishna Pillai and V K Krishna Menon deserve their places in this list, and I am sure there are many more! May all their souls RIP!

Kuttanadu K Ramakrishna Pillai was the 12th President of the State Congress, and he nominated Accamma Cheriyan, as its 13th president, when he was arrested along with other Freedom Fighters! He was a Lawyer, Freedom Fighter, writer, Script Writer, columnist, and an Orator. He received “Thaamara Pathru” for fighting for our country. He also received an award, which included a tour of the Soviet Union for his book, ‘Indo soviet Souhridam’ (Indo Soviet Friendship). Among his other books, ‘Indian Swaathanthriya Samaram’, published by ‘Indulekha’ was highly acclaimed. He died on 5 May 1982 at the age of 73.

I hope you would add Kuttanad K Ramakrishna Pillai, Freedom Fighter and the 12th President of the State Congress, to the list, as he deserves to be there!. I have photos of him receiving the Nehru Award!

K P NEELAKANTA PILLAI FROM VELIYANADU was also a freedom fighter and imprisoned by british in kannur cetral jail for years..

AV JOSEPH was also a freedom fighter from Edappally. He has also received thamara Patram for his freedom fighting. He was the freedom fighters association president for a long time.

I used to hear stories of a freedom fighter called Mathunni from kulanada, Pandalam, who was rumuored to be poisoned to death by the travancore king in mavelikara. he was considered to be one of the earliest followers of Gandhiji. does anybody know anything about his history?

    പണ്ഡിറ്റ് ജവഹർലാൽ നെഹ്‌റു:         ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായി എല്ലാം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് പോരാടിയ മഹാനായ നേതാക്കളിൽ ഒരാളാണ് പണ്ഡിറ്റ് ജവഹർലാൽ നെഹ്‌റു.     ഇന്ത്യക്ക് സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ലഭിച്ചതിന് ശേഷമുള്ള ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ആദ്യ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.     ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ നിയമങ്ങൾ തള്ളിക്കളയുന്നതിനെതിരെ അദ്ദേഹം മഹാത്മാഗാന്ധിക്കൊപ്പം ചേർന്നു.     ഉപ്പു നിയമത്തിനെതിരെ നിലകൊണ്ടതിന് ഗാന്ധിജിയോടൊപ്പം ജയിലിൽ കിടന്നു.     ജയിലിൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ ഇരുവരും തങ്ങളുടെ കോൺഗ്രസ് പാർട്ടിയെ വീണ്ടും ഒന്നിച്ച് ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർക്കെതിരെ ഒരുമിച്ച് പോരാടി.     ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരുടെ അനീതിക്കെതിരെ പോരാടാൻ സ്വയം നിർത്തിയിട്ടും അദ്ദേഹം നിരവധി തവണ ജയിൽവാസം അനുഭവിച്ചു.    

    നേതാജി സുഭാഷ് ചന്ദ്രബോസ്:         ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായി പോരാടിയ മഹാനും ധീരനുമായ നേതാവായിരുന്നു നേതാജി സുഭാഷ് ചന്ദ്രബോസ്.     ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർക്കെതിരെ പോരാടാൻ അദ്ദേഹം സമാധാനവും അഹിംസയും പിന്തുടർന്നില്ല.     ‘എനിക്ക് നിങ്ങളുടെ രക്തം തരൂ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം തരാം’ എന്നതായിരുന്നു സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രചാരണം.     ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർക്ക് ഇന്ത്യക്കാരുടെ ശക്തി കാണിക്കാൻ ഇന്ത്യൻ നാഷണൽ ആർമിയെ ഉയർത്താൻ ഹിറ്റ്ലറുടെ സഹായം അദ്ദേഹം സ്വീകരിച്ചു.    

    ലാൽ ബഹാദൂർ ശാസ്ത്രി:         ഇന്ത്യക്ക് സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ലഭിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം ഇന്ത്യയുടെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയായിരുന്നു ലാൽ ബഹാദൂർ ശാസ്ത്രി.     ലളിത ജീവിതം നയിച്ചിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമരത്തിന് ഒരുപാട് സംഭാവനകൾ നൽകി.     ഉപ്പ് നിയമങ്ങൾ നിർത്തലാക്കുന്നതിനായി അദ്ദേഹം ഗാന്ധിജിയോടൊപ്പം നിസ്സഹകരണ പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ സജീവമായി ചേർന്നു.     സത്യാഗ്രഹ സമരത്തിലും പങ്കെടുത്ത് ആറ് വർഷം ജയിൽവാസം അനുഭവിച്ചു.     രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ ഭക്ഷ്യോത്പാദനം പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി അദ്ദേഹം ഹരിതവിപ്ലവ നിയമത്തിൽ ചേർന്നു.

Freedom Fighters In Kerala With Images

Many people have played a role in the social and cultural history of Kerala in many ways and have contributed greatly to the struggle for freedom.

Kerala is proud of her immense contributions nationally and internationally. Listed below are some of the most famous activists and freedom fighters who have contributed in many ways. These are names we should never forget.

By the treaties of 1723 and 1795 between British East India Company and Travancore, Travancore accepted British supremacy and the company promised help to the State in case of external aggression.

A similar treaty was also made in 1791 between the British and the King of Cochin. So for a decade or two later Tippu’s exit, all Kerala fell under the political control of the British East India Company.

Then, in 180O, Kerala was divided into 3 political units namely Travancore, Cochin, and Malabar. Later many thinkers and journalists of Kerala brought awareness among people how they are suppressed with their rights.

A.V. Kuttimalu Amma was a great woman freedom fighter who was active in the freedom movement who showing the Keralians the right path to fight against the British. She has actively participated in many national movements like the Swadeshi Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement (during the protest she was arrested for leading a group, and sadly her 2 years daughter had to stay in jail with her).

2. K. Kumar

• Full Name: Krishnan Nair Kumar
• Born: 1894, Kerala

K. Kumar was the earliest socio-political leader who spread Gandhi’s message and brought spirit in the people of Travancore State to fight against the British by following “Gandhian Principles”. He has close ties with well known prominent leaders like Pandit Nehru, C.R.Das, etc. The entire efforts of his life were to bring communal harmony.

3. Accamma Cherian

• Full Name: Anakkara Vadakkathu
• Born: 14 February 1909 Kanjirapally, Travancore
• Died: 5 May 1982 Trivandrum, Kerala, India
• Spouse: V. V. Varkey

Accamma Cherian was popularly known as Jhansi Rani of Travancore, the name didn’t come just like that. She gave up her teaching profession and joined the freedom movement. the Travancore people started protesting for a responsible government where she led a group meanwhile British police chief ordered men to fire but she cried and told to shoot her first, even British officer got sympathy and withdraw their order, for her courage Gandhi hailed her as ‘The Jhansi Rani of Travancore’.

4. Mohammed Abdur Rahiman

• Full Name: Muhammad Abdu Rahiman Sahib

Mohammed Abdur Rahiman was a great Muslim freedom fighter from Kerala, he tried to establishing peace in riot-affected areas and also participated in Salt Satyagraha for which he was imprisoned for 9 months. He was was editor and publisher of the Malayalam daily newspaper Al-Ameen in which he tried to nurture nationalism among the Muslim people of Malabar but finally, it was closed by British authorities.

7. Vaikom Muhammad Basheer

Vaikom Muhammad Basheer is a well-known writer known as Beypore Sultan, who received the fourth highest civilian award of the Padma Shri in 1982. He also participated in Salt Satyagraha and was in prison. Even after he was released he didn’t keep quiet, he organized an anti-British movement and took an active part in the freedom movement.

Vakkom Moulavi was the founder and publisher of the newspaper “Swadeshabhimani” which was banned by British officers because of critics against the Travancore Government. He stood as the voice of the Muslim community and brought social reforms like modern education, women education, and worked towards the elimination of bad customs followed by Muslim communities.

9. Veliyankode Umar Khasi

Veliyankode Umar Khasi is a Muslim scholar and freedom fighter who took active participation in the Civil-Disobedience movement and fought against the British opposing to pay taxes. Interestingly at the time of his death, he was waiting for death to arrive by preparing his own grave.

Freedom Fight Review: Malayalam Anthology On Countering Oppression Through Revolution Rather Than Reaction

Anthology films tend to be alienating experiences for audiences who have normalised experiencing typical narrative structures of feature films. The inability to stay with a singular plot or characters often feels counterproductive to the escapist experience mainstream audiences expect from cinema. Freedom Fight (2022) is one such anthology collectively directed by Jeo Baby, Jithin Issac Thomas, Akhil Anilkumar, Kunjila Mascillamani and Francies Louis that forcefully grounds its audience and calls them to action. To claim that the film’s focal intention was to make audiences feel suffocated, filthy, guilty and above all accountable would not be far-fetched. Freedom Fight seams together five narratives distinct in setting, plot and characters but united under a central theme — freedom. 

The inability to stay with a singular plot or characters often feels counterproductive to the escapist experience mainstream audiences expect from cinema. Freedom Fight (2022) is one such anthology collectively directed by Jeo Baby, Jithin Issac Thomas, Akhil Anilkumar, Kunjila Mascillamani and Francies Louis that forcefully grounds its audience and calls them to action.

The ‘freedom fight’ the film deals with, contrary to the use of violence or unrest, is modernised to resonate with the moralistic war society participates in, in everyday life. This fight for freedom comes from the rebellion within the mind against societal prisons of judgement, hegemony and institutionalism. It echoes Michel Foucalt’s criticism of surveillance through the panopticon prison ( Discipline and Punish , 1975). A panopticon prison was designed by Jeremy Benthem with the intention to punish and reform prisoners through its structure which allows constant surveillance by security guards, thus denying a sense of privacy or personal space and a subjugation of continuous ‘looked-at-ness’. Foucault believed that power and knowledge came from observing the other. Likewise, members of society today have socially conditioned views of the other and tend to follow codified morals often framed by those in power. These views are imposed on the other, creating a rigid hegemonic structure, which, if diverged in any way, may lead to social alienation. These are the scenarios contextualised and rebelled against in the various stories of Freedom Fight .

The first story, Geethu Unchained (a possible nod to Tarantino’s Django Unchained (2012)) by Akhil Anilkumar, depicts the social constructions that has suffocated and imprisoned Geethu. She is an employed woman for whom all life decisions are made for by the people around her. Her mother nags her about her clothes and constantly surveys her whereabouts. Her elder brother wants her to marry as quickly as possible in order to acquire ‘societal sanction’ to get married himself. When she tries to voice her opinions against her oppression, her father tries to shut her down, stating the neighbours will hear them squabble. Her co-worker is constantly in her ears voicing opinions Geethu never asked for. She is forced to subjugate herself to all of this because of her mistake in deciding to marry someone she loved and then later turning down the marriage.

The narrative shown seems to imply that her family ‘gave’ the ‘educated girl’ a chance to decide for herself, but she ultimately failed. Geethu thus becomes imprisoned in the panopticon, subject to judgement and opinions from all sides, which drowns her own voice. This very idea of “what will the neighbours/society think” that her dad brings up recurrently is the self-imposed panopticon that Anilkumar seems to be suggesting that society is a victim to. Geethu only finds an outlet to voice her frustration through the strangers she meets in her daily life. Perhaps it is the freedom from judgement that allows her this. Ironically enough, it is the collective of these strangers labelled “society” that her family wants to please through the domestication of Geethu.

On similar lines, this panopticon of “what others may think” also plagues the other short films, Old Age Home by Jeo Baby and Ration by Francies Lois in Freedom Fight . In Old Age Home , the three central characters are imprisoned themselves. Baby is unable to freely navigate himself or eat whatever he likes as an indirect result of his partial dementia. Lali directly points out to her children how she had to sacrifice her freedom for theirs and her husband’s sake. She is still unable to conveniently partake in her jackfruit chips business as she has to take care of Baby. In the middle of these freedom struggles comes Dhanu, who is robbed of choice as she has to listen to her employer, Lali, but at the same time tend to the wants of Baby. She is forced to make decisions in situations where the options she is given are problematic one way or the other and ultimately is penalised for a circumstantial decision she had no role in taking. Here too, it was the children of Baby and Lali who act as the panopticon security guards who attempt to ‘reform’ their parents by pointing out “what others will think” when they see Baby at a bar and command their mother that her only responsibility is to take care of their father.

In Ration, Lois shows us the class divide prevalent in society through the experience of Sumi, who is forced to scavenge for seer fish around town and ultimately sell her ring to buy it in order to prevent an altercation with their neighbouring family. The class divide becomes evident through the juxtaposition of the abundance that the rich have (which they are shown to waste) and the depravity of the poor showcased by the selling of a gold ring to buy fish. This same class divide also breeds shame within Sumi even though she is familiar with Princy, preventing Sumi from having an arbitrary conversation that could’ve saved her the time, effort and money of buying a seer fish or selling her ring. Here again we see the “what will others think” narrative come into fruition as a result of class divide and the ensuing shame it results in. While these three films show the narrowed existence the panoptic forces on individuals, the remaining two have strongholds of collective rebellion that attempt to deconstruct the panopticon.

EDUCATE. AGITATE. ORGANISE — The identification, development and execution of this famous slogan, recitation by the likes of B.R. Ambedkar, for just compensation and remuneration seems to be what the other two shorts in Freedom Fight suggest. While the previously mentioned films all center individuals cornered by the panoptic prison, Kunjila Mascillamani’s Asanghadithar and Jithin Isacc Thomas’ Pra.Thoo.Mu situate themselves around the collective. Both emphasise the efficiency and necessity of organised and informed rebellion instead of reactionary methods.

In Asanghadithar , women labourers working in shops within a commercial township are neglected of public toilets even as the law demands that every shop has one. When confronting labour unions to voice their concerns and identify solutions, they are repudiated by the argument that it is not an employer-worker issue. It has to be noted that all bodies of power (shop owners, labour union leaders and even the collector) are masculine and therefore obviously show a lack of regard for women’s issues. Mascillamani courts a need for women to educate themselves and form a recognised collective to counter the patriarchal forces that prioritise exploitative capitalist mentality.

The short is also critical of the mainstream arbitrary anti-feminist argument that women earn lower than men because they do not work the jobs men do by contextualising how women are denied proper work environments to be productive in the first place. Additional to this argument, Mascillamani’s subtle hints to patriarchal control of femininity can be noted through references to churidars without pockets and intentional discrediting of the women’s collective formed with it ignorantly being addressed as ‘Pennkutti’ (Little girl) instead of ‘Pennkootu’ (Sisterhood). Additionally, Macillamani uses the docu-fiction approach in structuring the narrative as it provides an air of credibility and is an authentic approach in introducing audiences to real-world problems. The implemented E-toilet is a symbol of bureaucratic red tape that only produces half results. The inclusivity of the transgender persons further improve the stronghold of the rebellion, and an air of sisterhood is created to de-institutionalise the commercial space ruled over by men.

In the end, the shop owners collude and decide to make a single washroom for the female labourers in a feverous attempt to shut down the rebellion before it catches momentum and costs the shop owners even more. These are not corporate entities but small-scale businesses that survive on daily earnings. But Mascillamani, through her placement of the narrative in a small-scale setting with uneducated women who come together, educate themselves and then agitate, echoes popular Marxist feminist thinker Alexandra Kollontai’s ideals of the proletariat feminist who recognises liberation from capitalism as a long-term process and one that requires the collective rather than the individual feminist.

On similar lines, Pra.Thoo.Mu or Prejathipathik Thooran Muttunnu calls for attention to the plight of manual scavengers and the need for labourers to conduct organised disruption as opposed to reactionary responses in the pursuit of just reconciliation. It denounces the coloured world of the other shorts to present visually gruesome images that stay with viewers and acts as a metaphor for the greying of reality where right and wrong are indistinguishable from those in power and those not. Lakshmanan’s actions subvert his position in established power hierarchy as he, who hails from a professional considered inferior, enters the regal space of the vile authoritarian in rebellion but ultimately obtains no redressal. Thomas mocks his authoritarian leader by making him attack Lakshmanan with O. V. Vijayan’s book, Dharmapuranam (1987), a political satire that criticises capitalism and commodification. The novel may have inspired Thomas as it too has a “Prajathipathi” (ruler) and frequently used words like theetam (excreta) of the ruler.

Paralleling the organised rebellion of Asanghaditar , The All Kerala Septic Tank Cleaners Association declares that, “till we get justice, you can clean your tanks yourselves”. This can be understood as a message to both the characters within the domain of Pra.Thoo.Mu as well as a call to action for apolitical viewers who are very much part of the problem through their inertia which permeate the exploitative political environment that persists.

My Favourite Freedom Fighters

Secondly, Rani Lakshmi Bai was a great freedom fighter. I have learned so many things from this empowering woman. She fought for the country despite so many hardships. A mother never gave up her country because of her child, instead took him to the battlefield to fight against injustice. Moreover, she was so inspiring in numerous ways.

Next, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose comes in my list. He led the Indian National Army to show the power of India to the British. His famous line remains to be ‘give me your blood and I will give you freedom.’

Finally, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was also one of the greatest leaders. Despite being from a rich family, he gave up the easy life and fought for India’s freedom. He was imprisoned a number of times but that did not stop him from fighting against injustice. He was a great inspiration to many.

In short, freedom fighters are what made our country what it is today. However, we see nowadays people are fighting for everything they stood against. After a long period of revolutions, bloodshed, and warfare, they brought India freedom. We only live in a democratic and independent country because of these outstanding leaders. Many freedom warriors struggled to protect people from Britain’s injustice, exploitation, and cruelty. Despite their lack of training, they did it for the sake of their country’s freedom.

What can we do to honour them ?

During the struggle, several of them perished. As a result, we can appreciate their sacrifice and bravery in every situation in order to make sure their countrymen could lead lives of pride and freedom. They also inspired others to strive for their liberation. Through numerous liberation movements, they raised public awareness of people’s basic rights and power. It is only due to them that we are free of colonizers of any type. As a result, they are the source of our power and liberty.

It is impossible to overstate the significance of the actions of the freedom fighters. Every year on Independence Day, the country celebrates the hundreds of those who sacrificed their lives so that their fellow citizens could be free. Their people will never forget their sacrifices.

When we go back in history, we can observe that the majority of freedom fighters did it without any prior official training in war or related fields. They went to conflicts and protests aware that they could be killed by the opposing force. Freedom warriors included not only those who opposed tyrants with guns, but also those who participated in protests through literature, legal advocates, and those who donated money to the cause. The war against foreign powers was headed by these brave-hearts. They educated their fellow citizens on their rights and also drew attention to any existing social injustices.

The most significant impact that the freedom fighters had on society was that they motivated others to realize their rights and stand up to those in positions of power. Others encouraged to join them in their fight. The countrymen linked by a bond of nationalism and patriotic impulses due to the liberation warriors. Freedom fighters regarded as the driving force behind the liberation struggle’s victory.

Our India is free because of freedom fighters, and we are citizens of an independent India. A wave of revolution swept the country as a result of their ideas, and everyone played the part of freedom warrior in some way. We should all hold these amazing people in high regard and never forget what they gave up for the country. The freedom warriors of our past have endured a lot of torture and suffering, and we have gained this freedom in exchange for their blood. Some freedom fighters became famous, while others stayed unknown, but they all achieved freedom for us, and as a result, they are still alive even after death.

For the freedom fighters, today’s free India was a dream come true. Their life’s ambition was to live in a free India, which we now have. Those legendary fighters gave us the freedom we have today, and we are forever indebted to them for their service.
