LUTRON HOMEWORKS UPDATE FT. THE ALISSE KEYPAD

The lighting automation extraordinaires at Lutron have set a new standard for smart lighting control with the updates to their  HomeWorks  system.

Lutron have been producing industry-leading lighting automation systems for decades. For much of that time we’ve been proudly installing these systems to many of our projects, so we’re always interested to see what they’re going to do next, and the Lutron HomeWorks update has given us a lot to get excited about.

Lutron HomeWorks boasts a strong suite of user oriented features, positioning the system among the finest on the market in UX terms. The voice control function empowers the user to command the mood, atmosphere and lighting throughout their property without lifting a finger. The voice control can also activate personalised scenes, which can be easily automated via the Lutron app. HomeWorks offers some of the most intuitive yet comprehensive scene automation in the game: users can easily customise the lighting and shading throughout their home, creating scenes to suit their mood or routine. The app can be easily integrated with smart home solutions for audio, security and temperature control, among others.

Achieving effective, reliable and user-friendly lighting automation throughout an entire home requires a lot of tech doing a lot of heavy lifting behind the scenes. The updated Lutron HomeWorks QSX processor has taken this whole operation up a notch. It might not be the most visible selling point, but more processing power means greater capacity, enabling users to programme an almost limitless repertoire of customised lighting schemes throughout their homes. It boosts the lighting dimming curve and transforms HomeWorks into a more powerful, fast and user friendly system on the whole. The new processor is also DIN Rail mountable which, again, may not sound thrilling to the uninitiated, but it makes the system more compact when combined with other componentry, as well as significantly easier and cheaper to maintain and install. This has huge implications for design, installation and upkeep, and leaves designers precious space and budget resource to be allocated to maximising the style and convenience of a smart home.

With their track record for top shelf technicality, Lutron’s impressive technological improvements are no surprise. But the updated HomeWorks system really shines with its accompanying range of keypads, which brings the style to match Lutron’s technical flair.

The sleek simplicity of the Lutron Alisse keypads bring the Lutron offering into line with the aesthetic demands of the luxury smart home market today. To some, the previous Lutron keypads left a little to be desired in design terms, and were often out of sync with the gorgeous lighting they controlled and the style of the properties into which they were installed. In the past, we would ordinarily install a Lutron converter behind a more congruous, custom keypad. As you can imagine, this could add a fair amount of time and expense to a project. However, the new Alisse keypads mean there’s no need to compromise on cost, or style, for substance. The hand-crafted range is designed to elegantly enmesh with a variety of decors, and is sure to make Lutron a popular choice going forwards.

Lutron’s Alisse wall control range may be the most stylish smart light switches yet

Signature Metal Collection works with HomeWorks system

Lutron has revealed its latest smart home controllers: the Alisse wall control range, which is a super stylish way to adjust your lights and control your connected blinds and shades.

Part of the Lutron HomeWorks whole-home automation system, the Alisse wall control panels are super skinny – just 3.2mm thick – smart light and blind switches that come in a range of shapes, sizes, configurations and colors.

They look so darn slick thanks to the Signature Metal finish of the collection. This is a range of handcrafted metal finishes – aged bronze, aged brass, brushed brass, champagne, satin nickel, graphite, and bright chrome – and there are also several painted metal colors to choose from as well: matte black, brilliant white, snow white, and architectural white.

So, you shouldn’t have a problem finding one that fits in well in your home.

There are also multiple button arrangements to choose from too, as well as a range of different sizes; single column, double column and triple column.

Finally, there is the option for custom engraving, so you can label the buttons, and the good news there is you can chop and change over time as the base unit is installed and programmed independent of the front plate, which simply snaps on.

The buttons also feature futuristic illumination options and are covered in a proprietary preservation process that will mean no fingerprints, stains or wear and tear.

As mentioned, you’ll need a Lutron HomeWorks system in place to use the new Alisse wall control panels ; these aren’t regular plug and play smart light switches.

Lutron Takes Lighting Keypad Design to the Next Level with Alisse Wall Control

Lutron’s design for the new Alisse wall control  for use with its HomeWorks whole-home automation system reimagines every detail of a lighting control keypad, starting with its thin profile, broad range of hand finishes, and subtle illumination around the buttons.

Sam Chambers, senior director of Lutron’s residential business, says that at the heart of the Alisse wall control is Lutron’s understanding that every detail matters when designing a home and that technology’s role should be to enhance the design vision, not distract from it. “The Alisse wall control’s uncompromising approach to aesthetics through its craftsmanship, style, versatility, and harmonious form bring design visions to life in a beautiful way,” he said.

Lutron uses a hand finishing process to bring out the dimension and hues of the materials used for the keypads and offers a range of signature metal finishes. Each finish is matched with engraving filled with carefully coordinated ink as well as a complementary thin, glowing halo around the buttons to complete the look. The Alisse wall control’s plate form is meant to be perfectly balanced, featuring a sleek, thin profile that protrudes less than eighth of an inch from the wall.

Personalizing Alisse Wall Control

Alisse wall control features several personalization options, including custom engraving and multiple button configurations. To accomplish these requests, Lutron decouples the wall plate, button configuration, and finish selection from the installation and programming process to allow the base unit to be ordered, installed, and programmed independent of the Alisse wall control plate, which easily snaps on when the button configuration, finish selection, and engraving details have been finalized. This approach allows homeowners to make both design choices and changes up until the end of the installation.

Lutron also provides a protective cover plate for the base unit to prevent damage from construction debris and created a suite of e-tools to make ordering of products and customizations quick and easy.

Additional features of the Alisse wall control include:
