ध्यान रखिये कि आपको  अपने भाषण का एक अच्छा Speech Format पहले से ही बना लेना चाहिए। आइये जानते हैं कि “How to Start a Speech? या How to Start a Presentation?”

1- Speech की Starting करते समय Audience का Attention में होना बहुत जरुरी होता है अर्थात आपको भाषण की शुरुआत (Opining Speech) कुछ इस तरह करनी होगी ताकि सुनने वाले लोगों का ध्यान आपकी तरफ हो जाये और वह आपसे सीधे जुड़ जाएँ।

2- Speech या Presentation की Impressive Starting करते समय आपको अपनी Audience के हिसाब से शुरुआत करनी चाहिए। यहाँ आपको ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि सुनने वाले किस प्रकार के हैं या आप किस Topic पर स्पीच देने जा रहे हैं। उदाहरण के लिए, यदि आप कोई Funny Speech देने जा रहे हैं तो किसी Joke से शुरू कर सकते हैं और यदि कोई Motivational Speech देने जा रहे हैं तो कोई Positive Statement से शुरुआत कर सकते हैं।

3- एक Good Speech की Starting आप किसी Impressive Short Story के साथ  कर सकते हैं। यह कहानी छोटी होनी चाहिए और आपके द्वारा दी जा रही स्पीच से सीधे तौर से Related होनी चाहिए। एक अच्छी स्टोरी लोगों में सुनने की रुचि जगा देती है।

4- अपने भाषण को प्रभावपूर्ण बनाने के लिए आप इसकी शुरुआत किसी Surprising Statement से कर सकते हैं। यह एक ऐसा Statement होता है जो आपकी Audience को तुरंत आपकी तरफ Divert कर देगा और लोग आपकी बात को सुनेंगे। आप अपनी स्पीच के हिसाब से इसे दे सकते हैं।

5- आप अपनी Presentation या Speech की Starting किसी Famous Person के Impressive Quotation से कर सकते हैं। यह भी एक प्रभावपूर्ण शुरुआत के लिए बहुत अच्छा होता है। Quote आपकी Speech से Related होना चाहिए।

6- एक Impressive Starting के लिए आप अपनी स्पीच या प्रेजेंटेशन की शुरुआत (Starting of Presentation Speech) किसी Interesting Facts से कर सकते हैं जो आपकी Speech Topic से रिलेटेड हो। यहाँ यह बात जरूर ध्यान रखिये कि आपके द्वारा दिया जा रहा Fact बिलकुल सही हो और यह लोगों को ऐसा न लगे जैसे आपने इसे बढ़ा चढ़ा कर पेश किया है।

7- एक Good Speech की Starting आप किसी Question के साथ कर सकते हैं। आप अपनी Audience से सीधे एक ऐसा प्रश्न पूछ सकते हैं जो आपके Presentation Topic से सीधे Related हो। उदाहरण के लिए, यदि आप How to Overcome Fear पर Speech देने जा रहे हैं तो आप अपनी Audience से Question पूछ सकते हैं कि क्या आप मुझे अपने अंदर पैदा होने वाले डर के कारण बता सकते हैं? क्या आप असफलता के डर (Failure Fear) को दूर करने के तरीके जानते हैं? आदि।

8- यदि आप कोई Funny Speech देने जा रहे हैं या कोई ऐसी Presentation जिसकी शुरुआत में आप लोगों को हंसाना चाहते हों या उनका मूड अच्छा करना चाहते हों तो आप अपनी स्पीच की शुरुआत (Starting of Speech) किसी Joke से कर सकते हैं। एक अच्छा joke लोगों के ध्यान को आपकी ओर खीच सकते हैं और इसे एक अच्छी शुरुआत हो सकती है।

9- आप अपनी Presentation या Speech की Impressive शुरुआत किसी अच्छी शायरी (Shayari) से भी कर सकते हैं। यह शायरी आपकी स्पीच टॉपिक से रिलेटेड हो तो बहुत अच्छी शुरुआत मानी जाएगी। यह अच्छा भाषण शुरू करने का यह तरीका लोगों का ध्यान आपकी ओर कर देगा।

10- आप अपनी प्रेजेंटेशन की शुरुआत (Presentation Introduction) किसी प्रयोग या प्रदर्शन (Demonstration) के द्वारा भी कर सकते हैं। इसके लिए आप किसी Physical Object या Props का प्रयोग कर सकते हैं या अपने Laptop में मौजूद किसी Topic related Video से कर सकते हैं। यह किसी Speech या Presentation की Successful Starting का एक Scientific Way है जो आजकल बहुत से लोग अपनाते हैं।

11- आप अपनी स्पीच की अच्छी शुरुआत (Starting of Speech)  लोगों से राय अर्थात Opinion लेकर भी कर सकते हैं। उदाहरण के लिए, यदि आप How to Grow your Business टॉपिक पर Speech देने जा रहे हैं तो आप स्पीच की शुरुआत में Business बढ़ाने से Related Opinion ले सकते हैं। लोग इसमें interest जरूर लेंगे और अपना अपना Opinion देने में उन्हें बहुत अच्छा लगेगा।

12- आप अपनी स्पीच को प्रभावपूर्ण बनाने के लिए इसकी शुरुआत (Impressive Introduction Speech) अपने किसी Personal Experience से भी कर सकते हैं। उउदाहरण के लिए, यदि आप कोई Health related Speech देने जा रहे हैं तो आप अपने सफल अनुभव (Successful Experience) को सबसे पहले लोगों के सामने रख सकते हैं। इससे बहुत अच्छी शुरुआत होगी।

13- एक Speech की Impressive Starting के लिए आपको उसका एक Best Title जरूर बताना चाहिए। यह Title Impressive होना चाहिए और ऐसा होना चाहिए जो आपके Topic को पूर्ण रूप से Show करता हुआ होना चाहिए।

14- आपको अपने Speech या Presentation के Starting में ही Short में बता देना चाहिए कि आप किस बारे में बताने जा रहे हैं। क्या क्या points आपकी स्पीच में शामिल होंगे। इससे लोग इम्प्रेस होंगे और मानेंगे कि आपने अपने भाषण का एक अच्छा Speech Format पहले से ही बना लिया है।

15- आपको अपने Speech या Presentation के Starting में ही अपनी Audience को Short में बता देना चाहिए कि इस Speech या Presentation से आपको क्या क्या फायदे होने वाले हैं? या इससे आपकी लाइफ में क्या Positive Change आने वाले हैं? इससे लोगों का Interest जाग जायेगा और वह आपको सुनने के लिए तैयार हो जायेंगे।

16- आप अपने Speech या Presentation के Starting में कुछ ऐसा जरूर कहना चाहिए जिससे सुनने वालों को लगे कि वह आपके लिए बहुत खास (Special) हैं। ऐसा करने से लोग अच्छा महसूस करेंगे और आपकी बातों में रुचि जरूर लेंगे।

17- एक प्रभावपूर्ण भाषण की शुरुआत (Introduction Speech) के लिए आपका  Sound Effect Positive होना चाहिए। आपकी आवाज धीमी या तेज़ speech topic के हिसाब से होनी चाहिए।

18- एक Impressive Presentation या Speech की Starting से ही आपकी Body Language आपकी स्पीच के According होनी चाहिए।

19- आपको अपनी Speech की False Or Negative Starting कभी नहीं करनी चाहिए। ऐसा करने से लोगों पर Negative Impression पड़ता है और इससे लोग स्पीच में कोई इंटरेस्ट नहीं लेंगे।

20- आप Speech की Starting ऊपर बताये गए चाहें किसी भी तरीके से करें लेकिन आपकी शुरुआत आपके प्रेजेंटेशन टॉपिक से रिलेटेड ही होनी चाहिए वरना लोग शुरुआत से ही Bore हो जायेंगे।

21- प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के बात करने का या लोगों को समझाने का  अपना एक अलग तरीका (Style) होता है। अगर यह Style अच्छा है तो आप इसका प्रयोग अपने भाषण में भी कर सकते हैं। या किसी भी Presentation को आप किसी अच्छे और नए तरीके से, जो आपको पसंद हो, से भी कर सकते हैं। यह Style Unique भी हो सकता है।

भाषण देने का तरीका हिंदी में  How to start a speech in Hindi: कम बोलना और अधिक सुनना अच्छा माना जाता है मगर हर इन्सान में वक्ता के गुण होने चाहिए ताकि वह अपनी बात औरों को कह सके.

बहुत से लोग आपने जीवन में देखे होंगे जिसके पास बोलने की अद्भुत क्षमता होती है तथा वे किसी विषय पर एक बार बोलने की शुरुआत करते है तो फिर रूकने का नाम ही नहीं लेते हैं.

how to start a speech in hindi in school : एक व्यक्ति के साथ संवाद करना ही एक भाषण का रूप है मगर एक बड़ी भीड़ को सबोधित करना थोड़ा कठिन भी हैं.

जिसने कभी स्कूल या कॉलेज में कोई भाषण नहीं दिया है  तो पहली बार यह  उनके लिए काफी कठिन हो  जाता हैं. भाषण देने का सही तरीका क्या है आपकों संक्षिप्त में यहाँ बता रहे हैं.

अच्छे भाषण की शुरुआत और सम्बोधन (how to give speech in hindi)

भाषण की शुरुआत सम्बोधन के साथ की जाती हैं. नमस्कार Namaskaar के पश्चात हिन्दी में माननीय अतिथि महोदय सभा में उपस्थित सभी सदस्यों का हार्दिक स्वागत एवं अभिनन्दन के साथ की जाती हैं. 

अंग्रेजी में  Welcome the  chief guest other guests and the audience इस वाक्य को speech introduction के रूप में प्रयोग किया जा सकता हैं.

स्कूल के किसी कार्यक्रम में सम्बोधन के दौरान इन पक्तियों को भी कह सकते हैं.

जैसे – परम् आदरणीय अध्यक्ष, हम सभी के चहेते व समाज के लोकप्रिय माननीय मुख्य अतिथि जी, कार्यक्रम को विशिष्टता प्रदान कर रहे विशिष्ट अथिति जी व इस कार्यक्रम के महत्वपूर्ण अंग हमारे दर्शक गण

भाषण के संबोधन के साथ ही वक्ता को भाषण के विषय पर आना चाहिए, सर्वप्रथम आयोजकों द्वारा उक्त विषय पर बोलने के लिए अवसर देने के लिए धन्यवाद ज्ञापित करना अथवा आज मैं इस विषय पर भाषण देने जा रहा हूँ. स्कूल कॉलेज के भाषण के मुख्य भाग की शुरुआत से इस उदहारण से की जा सकती हैं.

आज आपके समक्ष अमुक विषय पर ( topic …..) अपने विचार व्यक्त करने के लिए यहां उपस्थित हुआ हूं

अंग्रेजी में इसे “Before starting the Speech say some couplets two or three lines on the topic of  speech ,in Hindi. Have full confidence and smile on your face when you go to the stage.”

इसके बाद भाषण की शुरुआत कर देनी चाहिए. भाषण की समाप्ति पर आप सब का धन्यवाद करता हूं के साथ ही वक्ता अपने स्थान को ग्रहण करने के लिए चला जाता हैं.

भाषण देते वक्त सावधानियाँ व टिप्स (start a speech in School In hindi)

• भाषण देते हुए मुख्य विचार और लक्ष्य बेहद स्पष्ट होने चाहिए -भाषण देने से पहले दिमाग में तीन बातें स्पष्ट होनी चाहिए. मुख्य विचार, ऑडियश और लक्ष्य. शुरुआत अपने विचार पर फोकस करके की जा सकती है. तय करे कि आपको सुनने वाले कौन होंगे और इसी के अनुसार अपनी स्पीच लिखे. अगर कोई छोटे मंच पर बोलने जा रहे है, तो वाक्य व्यक्तिगत रखे जा सकते हैं.किसी कांफ्रेंस में प्रोफेशनल के बीच है तो तकनीकी भाषा का उपयोग किया जा सकता है. ये ध्यान रखना जरुरी है कि आपका लक्ष्य सभी को पता चल जाए. हो सकता है आप यह भी चाहे कि श्रोता आपकी कही बात को अन्य लोगों तक पहुचाएं.
• साथ काम करते हुए एक दूसरे से बहुत कुछ सीख सकते हैं .- कर्मचारियों से एक दूसरे से सीखना भी विकास का एक जरिया है. शोध बताते है कि जब लोगों को कोई कौशल सीखना होता है तो वे अक्सर अपने सहकर्मियों की मदद लेते हैं. संस्थान में इस तरह से सीखना प्रोत्साहित किया जा सकता हैं. इसके लिए एक औपचारिक कार्यक्रम रखा जा सकता हैं. व फेसिलिलेटर को अपोइन्ट कर शुरुआत की जा सकती हैं. यहाँ लोगों को अपने विचार तजुर्बे और सवाल रखते हुए सुरक्षित करवाना जरुरी हैं. सेशन के दौरान सुनिश्चित करे कि जो भी सीखे, वह असल परिस्थतियों पर आधारित हो. जिससे प्रतिभागी अपने सीखे गये कौशल को तुरंत परख सके.
• एक अच्छा वक्ता बनने के लिए आपका उठना, आपकी चाल और हावभाव भी काफी मायने रखता है. सहज होकर अपने स्थान से मंच तक पहुचे. क्योंकि जब वक्ता का नाम पुकारा जाता है तभी से ही श्रोतागण आपकी ओर अपना ध्यान आकर्षित कर लेते है तथा देखने लगते, इसलिए बनावटी चाल बनाने की बजाय अपने व्यवहारिक ढंग से संबोधन देने की तरफ बढ़े.
• भाषण का संबोधन मुख्य रूप से मंच पर विराजमान अतिथिगण तथा श्रोताओं को ध्यान में रखकर तैयार किया जाता हैं. इसके लिए अतिथिगण, सभा मंडल में विराजमान बन्धुओं, भाइयो बहिनों, विद्यार्थियों, सहपाठियों, सहकर्मियों आदि शब्दों का चयन किया जा सकता हैं.
• भाषण में वक्ता का मैं बना रहना चाहिए. भाषण की शुरुआत में संबोधन के बाद अपने श्रोताओं को विषय से परिचय कराएं जैसे आज मैं नारी सशक्तिकरण के बारे में मेरे विचार आपके समक्ष रख रहा हूँ. इसके पश्चात मूल विषय तथा बिन्दुओं को विस्तार से रखे तथा अंत में आयोजक तथा कार्यक्रम निर्माताओं द्वारा अपनी बात रखने का अवसर देने के लिए धन्यवाद देकर आप अपने भाषण को और अधिक आकर्षक रूप दे सकते हैं.

अच्छा भाषण देने के आसान चरण

1: अपना भाषण तैयार करें .

किसी भी चीज को बोलने के लिए या करने के लिए हमें पहले से ही तैयारी करनी पड़ती है। अगर आप भाषण देना चाहते हैं तो आप कैसा भाषण देना चाहते हैं, आपको उसकी तैयारी पहले ही करनी चाहिए अर्थात आप जिस सब्जेक्ट पर अपनी बात रखना चाहते हैं, आपको उसकी पहले अच्छे से स्टडी करनी चाहिए।

ऐसा करने पर आप उस विषय पर अच्छी तरह से भाषण दे सकेंगे, जो ज्ञान के साथ परिपूर्ण होगा। अपने भाषण को तैयार करने के लिए आपको नोट्स बनाने चाहिए ताकि जब कभी आप मंच पर भाषण दे और आप का ध्यान भटके तो आप नोट्स देख कर के फिर से अपने टॉपिक पर आ जाएं।

2: देखकर भाषण ना दें 

अगर आप अपने भाषण को प्रभावशाली बनाना चाहते हैं और आप यह चाहते हैं कि लोगों की नजरों में आपकी इमेज एक कुशल वक्ता के तौर पर बने, तो आपको कभी भी देखकर भाषण नहीं देना चाहिए, क्योंकि अगर आप देखकर भाषण देते हैं तो लोग आपको नकलची कहते हैं, साथ ही आपका उपहास उड़ाते हैं।

जो लोग देखकर भाषण देते हैं वह सामने बैठे दर्शकों में उत्साह पैदा नहीं कर पाते हैं। इसलिए अगर आप सिर्फ एक नोट ले करके ही जाते हैं जिस पर आपने भाषण से संबंधित महत्वपूर्ण जानकारी लिखी है, तो आपको यह पता रहेगा कि आपको किन टॉपिक पर विशेष तौर पर बोलना है।

3: आईने के सामने प्रैक्टिस करें 

जब आप भाषण दे तो पूरे हाव-भाव के साथ आपको भाषण देना चाहिए। इसके लिए आपको आईने के सामने जाना चाहिए और आईने में देखते हुए अपने हाव-भाव के अनुरूप भाषण देने की प्रैक्टिस करनी चाहिए।

ऐसा करने पर आपका कॉन्फिडेंस लेवल भी बढ़ता है और आपकी घबराहट भी थोड़ी हद तक कम हो जाती है।

4: रिकॉर्डिंग करें और कमी निकालें 

जब आप भाषण देने की प्रैक्टिस करें तब अपने भाषण को अपने स्मार्टफोन के जरिए अवश्य रिकॉर्ड कर ले और खाली समय में उसे बार-बार सुने। ऐसा करने पर भाषण देने के दरमियान जो भी गलतियां आपसे हुई होंगी,

आप उन गलतियों को दूर करने के बारे में प्रयास कर सकते हैं और ऐसा करके आप अपने भाषण को और भी अट्रैक्टिव बना सकते हैं। इस तरीके को अगर आप फॉलो करते हैं तो आप का भाषण तो अट्रैक्टिव बनता ही है, साथ ही आपकी कमियां भी दूर होती है।

5: अपने आप पर विश्वास रखें 

किसी भी काम को करने के पहले अगर आप अपने अंदर यह आत्मविश्वास पैदा कर लेते हैं कि आप उस काम को करके ही दम लेंगे, तो निश्चित ही आपको उस काम में सफलता मिलती है।

इस प्रकार भाषण देने के लिए जब आप मंच पर जाएं, तब पूरे उत्साह और आत्मविश्वास के साथ मंच पर जाएं और भाषण देना चालू करें।

भाषण देने के दरमियान कभी भी अपने मन के अंदर कोई भी डर ना लाएं बल्कि अपनी बात पर अडिग रहें और अपने आप पर पूरा विश्वास रखें क्योंकि कुशल वक्ता वही होता है जो बिना डरे हुए अपनी बात कहता है।

6: दर्शको को हँसने का और सोचने का मौका दो 

जब आप भाषण देना चालू करें, तब आपको अपने भाषण में ऐसी बातों को भी शामिल करना चाहिए ताकि दर्शकों को हंसने का मौका भी मिले। अगर कोई व्यक्ति लगातार एक ही लाइन में भाषण देता है तो ऐसा करने से उसका भाषण निराश हो जाता है और लोग उसके भाषण में इंटरेस्ट नहीं लेते हैं।

इसीलिए अपने भाषण को प्रभावशाली बनाने के लिए आपको अपने भाषण की लय को बीच-बीच में चेंज करते रहना चाहिए। आप अपने भाषण में कुछ दिलचस्प बातें भी जोड़ सकते हैं,

ताकि सामने बैठे हुए दर्शकों को नई बातें जानने का मौका मिले अथवा उन्हें हंसने का मौका मिले। ऐसा करने पर उनका इंटरेस्ट आपके भाषण में बना रहेगा।

7: दर्शको को भाषण के साथ जोड़े

जब आप भाषण दे तो भाषण के बीच में आपको सामने बैठी हुई ऑडियंस से सवाल जवाब भी अवश्य करना है। ऐसा करने पर सामने जो ऑडियंस बैठी हुई है,

उसका आपके भाषण में इंटरेस्ट बढ़ेगा और ऐसा होने पर आपका कॉन्फिडेंस लेवल भी बढ़ेगा। इससे धीरे-धीरे आपके अंदर जो डर है वह भी निकल जाएगा।

भाषण देने के दरमियान आपको अपनी बातों को महसूस करना है और आपको भावनात्मक तरीके से ऑडियंस के सामने अपनी बातों को प्रस्तुत करना है। अगर ऐसा आप करते हैं तो काफी कम समय में आप एक फेमस मोटिवेशनल स्पीकर या फिर वक्ता बन जाएंगे।

8: आंखों से संपर्क रखें 

अगर आप यह चाहते हैं कि आप जो भाषण दे उसकी छाप दर्शकों पर पड़े तो भाषण देने के दरमियान आपको दर्शकों से आई कांटेक्ट बनाने का प्रयास करना है।

आपको भाषण देने के बीच बीच में दर्शकों से उनकी आंखों में आंखें डाल कर के सवाल पूछना है और आपको इफेक्टिव तौर पर अपनी बातों को उन्हें समझाने का प्रयास करना है।

ऐसा अगर आप करते हैं तो आप के भाषण का सामने बैठी हुई ऑडियंस के दिलों दिमाग पर काफी गहरा असर होता है।

स्टेज पे जाके बोलना और सबके सामने खुद को present करना और दिल की धड़कन को संभाल कर पूरे मंच को संभालना और उनकी attention पाना और अपनी बात को इस ढंग से रखना की audience आपकी दीवानी हो जाये, अपने आप मे एक बहुत बड़ा कार्य है। जिसके लिए हमे सिर्फ stage fear को नही भगाना है बल्कि खुद के अंदर एक positive energy और एक positive environment create करने की जरूरत है।

So आज की वीडियो में हम भाषण की शानदार शरुआत कैसे करे, या हम पहली बार भाषण दे रहे तो मंच पे खुद को कैसे present करे और किन चीज़ों का ध्यान रखे, आज की वीडियो में वो आपको सब बताने वाली हो जिससे आप एक शानदार अभियक्ति भी देंगे और लोगो की वाहवाही भी लूटेंगे।

सबसे पहले आपको जिस भी टॉपिक पे बोलना है उसे अच्छे से समझ ले, अगर वाद विवाद प्रतियोगिता है तो उसे अच्छे से याद कर ले ।

Secondly अब आपको जिस टॉपिक पे भी बोलना है, या जो भी बोलना है उसका प्रयास करे, अभ्यास करें, आयने के सामने खड़े होकर उसे बार बार repeat करे, इससे आपका self confidence भी build होगा और you will know all about your mistakes, where you have to improve and on which parameters are missing in your speech जैसे कि आपके हाव भाव, आपके बोलने का तरीका, आप कैसे present कर रहे है, कहा विराम देना है और कहा अपनी आवाज़ को बुलंद करना है।

Thirdly जो भी आप बोलने वाले हो उसकी रूपरेखा जरूर तैयार करे । कोनसे चीज़ कब और कैसे बोलनी है, यह आपको आनी चाहिए।

जैसे starting में आप ऐसे बोलते है नमस्कार दोस्तो, सादर नमस्कार, या सादर नमस्कार और पधारे गए अथितियों को मेरा प्रणाम

उसके बाद आप बोलेंगे माननीय प्रधानाचार्य जी, महोदया जी और उपस्थित सभी अथितिगन

में जीनल ….. इस विषय पे अपने विचार पे प्रस्तुत करने जा रही हु।

उसके बाद आप किसी मुक्तक या शायरी से अपनी बात start करे क्योंकि जब हम मुक्तक या शायरी से अपनी बात स्टार्ट करते है तो हमारा Impression अच्छा पड़ता है, कहा भी गया है first impression is last impression …

मंज़िल तक पहुँचना हर किसी का ख्वाब होता है पर अधूरे ख्वाबो का एक आसमान भी होता है जहाँ हमारी मेहनत का कोई मोल नही होता है क्योंकि बिना सफ़लता कोई चिट्टा आम नही होता है कौन पूछता है फटे पुराने लिबासो को यहां तो सिकंदर वोही होता है जो बाजी जीत जाता है।

उसके बाद आप अपनी स्पीच या अपनी बात लोगो के समक्ष रख सकते है।

अपनी बात रखते वक़्त आपको कुछ बातों का ध्यान रखना आवश्यक है जैसे कि

आपकी body language आपकी speech से मैल खानी चाहिए ।

आपका eye contact audience के साथ बना हुआ होना चाहिए ताकि आपको पता चल सके लोग आपकी स्पीच में कितना interested है और आपका self confidence बढ़ सके।

आपकी आवाज स्पष्ट और clear होनी चाहिए ताकि लोगो तक आपकी भावनाएं आसानी से पहुँच सके।

Emotions अगर speech में हो तो वो शब्दो के साथ बयां होने चाहिए, कहा धीरे बोलना है, कहा रुकना है और कहाँ आवाज़ को तेज करनी है, यह आपको पता होना चाहिए।

Like मुझे एक कविता बोलनी है अगर में तितली होती तो यह आसमान मेरा होता रंग बिरेंगी परिधानो से यह श्रृंगार मेरा होता।

अगर में तितली होती खूबसूरती की मिसाल मेरी होती रंगों से महक फैलाती इंद्रधनुष के रंग मेरे होते।

इस कविता में कहाँ उतार है, कहा चढ़ाव है, कहा रुकना है , इन सब चीज़ों को ध्यान में रखकर अपनी बात रखी जाती है।

Watch: Michelle Obama's full speech at the 2024 DNC

Former first lady Michelle Obama delivered a roughly 20-minute speech  Tuesday night at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, telling Americans that "hope is making a comeback" with Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on the Democratic ticket. In the speech, Obama honored her late mother, Marian Robinson, saying she believes Harris holds similar values. 

Obama also drew a stark contrast between Harris and former President Donald Trump, saying the Republican candidate "did everything in his power to try to make people fear us." She also took a dig at Trump's "Black jobs" comment made in his June debate with President Biden.

"Who's going to tell him that the job he's currently seeking might just be one of those 'Black jobs'?" Obama asked. 

The electric speech drew applause from the crowd and prompted her husband, former President Barack Obama to joke in his speech  afterward that he's "the only person stupid enough to speak after Michelle Obama."

Hello Chicago! 

Something wonderfully magical is in the air, isn't it? 

Not just here in this arena… but spreading all across this country we love… a familiar feeling that's been buried too deep for too long. 

You know what I'm talking about? 

It's the contagious power of hope! 

The anticipation… the energy… the exhilaration of once again being on the cusp of a brighter day. 

The chance to vanquish the demons of fear, division, and hate that have consumed us… and continue pursuing the unfinished promise of this great nation—the dream that our parents and grandparents fought and died and sacrificed for. 

America, hope is making a comeback!

To be honest, I'm realizing that until recently, I have mourned the dimming of that hope. 

Maybe you've experienced the same feelings… a deep pit in my stomach… a palpable sense of dread about the future. 

And for me, that mourning has been mixed with my own personal grief. 

The last time I was in Chicago was to memorialize my mother—the woman who showed me the meaning of hard work, humility, and decency… who set my moral compass high and showed me the power of my voice. 

I still feel her loss so profoundly… I wasn't even sure I'd be steady enough to stand before you tonight. 

But my heart compelled me to be here because of the sense of duty I feel to honor her memory… and to remind us all not to squander the sacrifices our elders made to give us a better future. 

You see, my mom, in her steady, quiet way, lived out that striving sense of hope every day of her life. 

She believed that all children — all people — have value… that anyone can succeed if given the opportunity. 

She and my father didn't aspire to be wealthy… in fact, they were suspicious of those who took more than they needed. 

They understood that it wasn't enough for their kids to thrive if everyone else around us was drowning. 

So my mother volunteered at the local school… she always looked out for the other kids on our block. 

She was glad to do the thankless, unglamorous work that for generations, has strengthened the fabric of this nation. 

The belief that if you do unto others… if you love thy neighbor… if you work and scrape and sacrifice, it will pay off—if not for you, then maybe for your children or your grandchildren… those values have been passed on through family farms and factory towns… through tree-lined suburbs and crowded tenements… through prayer groups and National Guard units and social studies classrooms. 

Those were the values my mother poured into me until her very last breath. 

Kamala Harris and I built our lives on those same foundational values. 

Even though our mothers grew up an ocean apart, they shared the same belief in the promise of this country. 

That's why her mother moved here from India at 19. 

It's why she taught Kamala about justice… about our obligation to lift others up… about our responsibility to give more than we take. 

She'd often tell her daughter, "Don't sit around and complain about things—do something!"

So with that voice in her head, Kamala went out and worked hard in school, graduating from an HBCU… earning her law degree at a state school… and then she went on to work for the people. 

Fighting to hold lawbreakers accountable and strengthen the rule of law… fighting to get folks better wages… cheaper prescription drugs… a good education… decent health care, childcare, and elder care. 

From a middle-class household, she worked her way up to become Vice President of the United States of America. 

Kamala Harris is more than ready for this moment. 

She is one of the most qualified people ever to seek the office of the presidency… and she is one of the most dignified—a tribute to her mother, to my mother, and probably to your mother too… the embodiment of the stories we tell ourselves about this country. 

Her story is your story… it's my story… it's the story of the vast majority of Americans trying to build a better life. 

Kamala knows, like we do, that regardless of where you come from, what you look like, who you love, how you worship, or what's in your bank account… we all deserve the opportunity to build a decent life… all of our contributions deserve to be accepted and valued. 

Because no one has a monopoly on what it means to be an American… no one!

Kamala has shown her allegiance to this nation, not by spewing anger and bitterness, but by living a life of service and always pushing the doors of opportunity open for others. 

She understands that most of us will never be afforded the grace of failing forward… we will never benefit from the affirmative action of generational wealth. 

If we bankrupt a business… or choke in a crisis, we don't get a second, third, or fourth chance. 

If things don't go our way, we don't have the luxury of whining or cheating others to get further ahead… we don't get to change the rules so we always win. 

If we see a mountain in front of us, we don't expect there to be an escalator waiting to take us to the top. 

No, we put our heads down. We get to work. In America, we do something. 

And throughout her entire life, that's exactly what we've seen from Kamala Harris: the steel of her spine… the steadiness of her upbringing… the honesty of her example… and yes, the joy of her laughter and her light. 

It couldn't be more obvious… of the two major candidates in this race, only Kamala Harris truly understands the unseen labor and unwavering commitment that has always made America great.

Unfortunately, we know what comes next… we know folks are going to do everything they can to distort her truth. 

My husband and I, sadly, know a little something about this. 

For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us. 

His limited and narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hardworking, highly educated, successful people who also happened to be Black. 

Who's going to tell him that the job he's currently seeking might just be one of those "Black jobs"?  

It's his same old con: doubling down on ugly, misogynistic, racist lies as a substitute for real ideas and solutions that will actually make people's lives better. 

You see, gutting our health care… taking away our freedom to control our bodies… the freedom to become a mother through IVF, like I did—those things are not going to improve the health outcomes of our wives, mothers, and daughters. 

Shutting down the Department of Education… banning our books—none of that will prepare our kids for the future. 

Demonizing our children for being who they are and loving who they love—that doesn't make anybody's life better. 

Instead, it only makes us small. 

And let me tell you… going small is never the answer. 

Going small is the opposite of what we teach our children. 

Going small is petty… it's unhealthy… and quite frankly, it's unpresidential. 

Why would we accept this from anyone seeking our highest office? 

Why would we normalize this type of backward leadership? 

Doing so only demeans and cheapens our politics… it only serves to further discourage good, big-hearted people from wanting to get involved at all. 

America, our parents taught us better than that… and we deserve so much better than that. 

That's why we must do everything in our power to elect two of those good, big-hearted people… there is no other choice than Kamala Harris and Tim Walz!

But as we embrace this renewed sense of hope, let us not forget the despair we have felt… let us not forget what we are up against.

Yes, Kamala and Tim are doing great right now… they're packing arenas across the country… folks are energized… we're feeling good. 

But there are still so many people who are desperate for a different outcome… who are ready to question and criticize every move Kamala makes… who are eager to spread those lies… who don't want to vote for a woman… who will continue to prioritize building their wealth over ensuring everyone has enough.

No matter how good we feel tonight or tomorrow or the next day, this is still going to be an uphill battle… so we cannot be our own worst enemies. 

No, the minute something goes wrong… the minute a lie takes hold, we cannot start wringing our hands. 

We cannot get a Goldilocks complex about whether everything is just right. 

We cannot indulge our anxieties about whether this country will elect someone like Kamala instead of doing everything we can to get someone like Kamala elected.

Kamala and Tim have lived amazing lives… I am confident they will lead with compassion, inclusion, and grace. 

But they are still only human. They are not perfect. And like all of us, they will make mistakes. 

But luckily, this is not just on them. 

No, this is up to us—all of us—to be the solution we seek… it is up to all of us to be the antidote to all the darkness and division. 

I don't care how you identify politically… whether you're a Democrat, Republican, independent, or none of the above… this is our time to stand up for what we know in our hearts is right. 

To stand up not just for our basic freedoms but for decency and humanity… for basic respect, dignity, and empathy… for the values at the very foundation of this democracy. 

It's up to us to remember what Kamala's mother told her: Don't just sit around and complain — do something! 

So if they lie about her, and they will, we've got to do something! 

If we see a bad poll, and we will, we've got to put down that phone and do something! 

If we start feeling tired… if we start feeling that dread creeping back in… we've got to pick ourselves up, throw water on our faces, and do something!  

We have only two and a half months to get this done… only 11 weeks to make sure every single person we know is registered and has a voting plan. 

So we cannot afford for anyone to sit on their hands and wait to be called upon… don't complain if no one from the campaign has specifically reached out to ask for your support… there is simply no time for that kind of foolishness.

You know what we need to do.

So consider this to be your official ask: Michelle Obama is asking you to do something!

Because this is going to be close. 

In some states, just a handful of votes in every precinct could decide the winner. 

So we need to vote in numbers that erase any doubt… we need to overwhelm any effort to suppress us. 

Our fate is in our hands. 

In 77 days, we have the power to turn our country away from the fear, division, and smallness of the past. 

We have the power to marry our hope with our action. 

We have the power to pay forward the love, sweat, and sacrifice of our mothers and fathers and all those who came before us. 

We did it before and we sure can do it again. 

Let us work like our lives depend on it… 

Let us keep moving our country forward and go higher — yes, higher — than we've ever gone before… 

As we elect the next President and Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz!

And now it is my honor to introduce somebody who knows a whole lot about hope… someone who has spent his life strengthening our democracy… please welcome America's 44th president and the love of my life… Barack Obama!

12 of the best attention getters to start a speech

The audience settles in their seats. The lights dim. You walk out to the center of the stage. You pause, take a deep breath, open your mouth and begin.

What you say over the next 30 seconds to introduce your speech or presentation is crucial.

That's how much time you have to make a positive impression on your audience. In it they will decide whether or not you have anything relevant or useful to say. Those first impressions count!

So how do you write an effective speech introduction to grab and hold their attention?

Begin by finding out how to choose the right opener.

How to choose the right opener for your speech

The better way to make your choice of opener is after you have carefully considered who you are talking to and why you're talking to them.

One size does not fit all. Different audiences will respond differently. If you are giving the same speech multiple times think about what you may need to change to fit. 

To work well your opening needs to be aligned with:

• the type of speech you're giving
• your main purpose for giving it
• your target audience and,  
• their interests or needs

Both the hook * to catch their attention and your topic must be relevant to them. Unless they're a captive audience, they've come freely to listen to you and they're expecting something of value from you.

How are you going to let them know they're in the right place? Why should they listen? What are they going to get or gain through listening?

Out of all the different ways to open, what attention getter is absolutely the best way?

The only way I know to work out what is best is to go through each of them, and as you do, consider your audience. Make a short list of those you think might work then try them out before making your final choice.

* hook – an opening statement that immediately captures the audience's attention just like a well baited hook on a fishing line catches a fish.

1. Use imagination to create mind pictures

Ask the audience to use their imagination. Get them to build evocative compelling images in their minds. Make them large. Add vibrant color, sound and movement.

For example:

“Let's take a break. Make yourself comfortable. Now close your eyes for a moment. Take a deep breath, and you're there, in the place where you feel the most at ease, the place where all the tensions, all the demands of your normal everyday life disappear. Look around you. See it. Feel it. It's so good, it's perfect."

“Close your eyes. Take a deep breath and a moment to picture in your mind the people dearest to you, the people you feel you could not live without. Now when did you talk to them, or spend real time with them last?"

2. Use an item to build a connection 

Choose an image or an object related to your speech, for instance a pair of shoes, to trigger interest and build a connection.

For example, if I were giving a speech on the lives of upper-middle class 19th century women I could open by holding up a pair of ornately decorated kid leather pumps.

“What's the name of the young woman who wore these? Listen. Can you hear the rustle of her silk skirts? And hear her heart beat bom-biddy-bom as the beau of the ball stepped her way? Would he, or wouldn't he ask her to dance?”

3. Ask a 'What if...?' rhetorical question

'What if...?' invites an audience to consider the possibilities of something becoming real. They can be positive somethings or negative, trivial or something that would have a significant impact if it came to pass.

The power of a 'what if...?' rhetorical question as an opener lies in the potency of the images and feelings it triggers. A well-chosen 'what if...?' will immediately have an audience wanting to hear the rest of your speech.

• "What if we don't find a way to successfully manage climate change?"
• "What if we really did solve the affordable housing crisis?"
• "What if questions of race and color ceased to matter?"
• "What if medicines were freely available to everybody who needed them?"
• "What if the person sitting next to you turned, looked into your eyes and said they loved you? Truly. Madly. Deeply."

4. Try a quotation from someone who's impacted your life in some way

To be effective a quotation doesn't have to be the clever quip or snippet of enduring wisdom: a famous quote from a well known person. It's origin could be personal, something someone important in your life said that's remained with you.

For example, my Mother answered all initial wails of outrage, pain or hurt from any of her five children with a command. "Breathe!" That was repeated, interwoven with encouraging asides, until whoever it was, was able to talk clearly and be understood.  "It's OK.", she'd say. "Breathe. Come on. You can do it. Breathe. That's it. Keep going. Good."

Or I could use this line from one of my high school reports which read, "...with further maturity she should do well." (Thank you Mr Phillips. Your prediction was right on target.) 

Or this from our son aged four as he watched me getting ready for another day of teaching: "When I grow up I'm going to wear pretty dresses and go to school just like you."

5. Use an interesting key fact

Choose an interesting key fact as an attention getting device: one of the most rarely known, or a shocking statistic from the body of your speech to open with.

For example: "Take a guess at what the most powerful and frequently used word is in the English language? 

It's not one of those usually thought of candidates.  Love? No. Money? Nope. Neither is it  any member of your family... Mum, Dad, brother, sister, son, or daughter.

It's a three letter word, so common it's overlooked and taken for granted. 'The'. It's the humble 'the'."

Or: "Between 2020/21 and 2021/2022, Americans consumed about 11 million metric tons of sugar, up from about 10 million metric tons in 2009/2010. Can you even begin to imagine the size of that sweet white mountain?"

6. Share personal stories

Share a personal story related to your specific topic as the beginning of a speech. Done well, it lets the audience know you understand their situation and helps establish your credibility: your right to talk on the subject.

As an example here's the opening of a speech I gave about the impact of suicide on families and friends:

“One fine Spring day I biked home from school and found a policemen guarding our backdoor. Through it came sounds I'll never forget: my quiet Mother screaming. He said, "You can't go in."

I kicked him in the shins and did. It was the 15th of September, three days before my thirteenth birthday and my father was dead. Killed by his own hand. Suicide.”

7. Rhetorical questions

These are questions that although they are asked, they're never really intended to be answered by anyone other than the person asking them. * Their principal function is to act as a segue, or lead in, to what the person intends to say next. For instance, the first main point of your introduction.

Examples: "What if I were to say to you that there was no such thing as public speaking fear?"

"What do you think the main benefits of being able to speak up in public are?"

* Although there's bound to be someone in your audience who will. Be ready for them, and move on.

8. An empathetic question, aligning yourself with the audience and eliciting a response

These questions bring speaker and audience together, establishing a common ground, a mutual understanding, which is an effective way to ease into a speech. If your question 'works' you'll see heads nodding in agreement.

• "Have you ever experienced the butterflies in your stomach turning into a herd of rampaging elephants, just before you step up to give your presentation?"
• "Have you ever wanted a good day to never end?"
• "How often have you 'lost' your car in the supermarket car park?"
• "How often have you ever wanted to shout, NO? You want me to prepare a new presentation by tomorrow? NO. You want me to stay late, again? NO."

9. It's in the news

Take headlines from what's trending in media you know the audience will be familiar with and see.

Using those that relate to your speech topic as the opening of your speech is a good way to grab the attention of the audience. It shows how relevant and up-to-the-minute the topic is.

For example: "'Death toll soars to 76 in Florida after Hurricane Ian demolished entire communities.' 'Noru became a super typhoon in 6 hours. Scientists say powerful storms are becoming harder to forecast.' 'Hurricane Orlene strengthens into Category 4 storm as it heads toward western Mexico.'

Three front page headlines from CNN just today. Climate change. Let's do what we can."

10. This day in history

If you're giving a speech to celebrate a special birthday or an anniversary, consider using several carefully selected events that occurred on the same day as a speech opening. They could be either funny or serious, depending on the specific purpose of your speech. They're a great way to place the person in a much wider context and often with exalted company.

For example: "What do the 1863 National Thanksgiving Day proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln, National Boyfriend Day, and Gwen Stefani have in common with Joe? Yes, the 3rd of October! It's a great date made better by being Joe's birthday. And we say Gwen is truly privileged to have the same one as him."

11. Issue a challenge

Let the audience know first thing, at the beginning of the speech, what action you expect they'll be able to take by the time your presentation is complete. Then when you come to the final points, repeat the call to action, or challenge, as part of your closing statement.

For example: "I've a challenge for you. That's to sign up for our public speaking course. Right now you may not see yourself doing that. Public speaking? Me? I'd rather have a root canal done, without painkillers. However, by the end of the presentation...well, let's see. There's a first time for everything!"

Use a startling statement, a fact, or a series of facts, to jolt the audience into paying attention.

"Covid. We've had 1.06 million of us die in the US, so far. Today there are nearly 60,00 new cases. More mothers, fathers, friends, colleagues, children – people. People ill. People who might die. So why have we stopped wearing masks?"

To my dearest daughter, Ashley, God love you, you’re incredible. Thanks for the introduction, and for being my courageous heart, along with Hunter and our entire family. And especially our rock, Jill, who is, those of you who know us, she still leaves me both breathless and speechless. Everybody knows her. I love her more than she loves me. She walks down the stairs and I still get that going “boom, boom, boom.” You all who know me know I’m not kidding. Let’s give a special round of applause to our First Lady Jill Biden.

My dad used to have an expression for real. He’d say, “Joey, family is the beginning, the middle, and the end.” And I love you all. Folks—and America, I love you.

Folks, let me ask you. Let me ask you: Are you ready to vote for freedom? Are you ready to vote for democracy and for America? Let me ask you: Are you ready to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz President and Vice President of the United States?

My fellow Democrats, my fellow Americans, nearly four years ago in winter on the steps of the Capitol, on a cold January day, I raised my right hand and I swore an oath to you and to God, to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and to faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States. In front of me was a city surrounded by the National Guard. Behind me, a Capitol just two weeks before had been overrun by a violent mob. But I knew then, from the bottom of my heart that I knew now, there is no place in America for political violence. None.

You cannot say you love your country only when you win. In that moment, I wasn’t looking to the past, I was looking to the future. I spoke to the work at hand, the moment we had to meet. It was, as I told you then, a winter of peril and possibility. Of peril and possibility. We’re in the grip of a once in a century pandemic, historic joblessness, a call for racial justice long overdue, clear and present threats to our very democracy.

( Crowd chants: “We love Joe!” ) Thank you.

Yet, I believed then, and I believe now, that progress was and is possible. Justice is achievable, and our best days are not behind us, they’re before us. Now it’s summer. The winter has passed, and with a grateful heart I stand before you now on this August night to report that democracy has prevailed, democracy has delivered, and now democracy must be preserved. 

You’ve heard me say it before, we’re facing an inflection point, one of those rare moments in history when the decisions we make now will determine the fate of our nation and the world for decades to come. That’s not hyperbole, I mean it literally. We’re in a battle for the very soul of America.

I ran for President in 2020 because of what I saw in Charlottesville in August of 2017. Extremists coming out of the woods, carrying torches, their veins bulging from their necks, carrying Nazi swastikas and chanting the same exact antisemitic bile that was heard in Germany in the early ’30s. Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and the Ku Klux Klan, so emboldened by a President then in the White House that they saw as an ally. They didn’t even bother to wear their hoods. 

Hate was on the march in America. Old ghosts in new garments, stirring up the oldest divisions, stoking the oldest fears, giving oxygen to the oldest forces that they long sought to tear apart America. In the process, a young woman was killed. When I contacted her mother, I asked about what happened. She told me. When the President was asked what he thought had happened, Donald Trump said, and I quote, “There are very fine people on both sides.” My God, that’s what he said. That is what he said and what he meant. 

That’s when I realized—had to listen to the admonition of my dead son—I could not stay on the sidelines. So I ran. 

Because I had no intention of running again. I’d just lost part of my soul. But I ran with a deep conviction in America. I know and believe in an America where honesty, dignity, decency, still matter. An America where everyone has a fair shot and hate has no safe harbor. An America where the fundamental creed of this nation that all of us are created equal is still very much alive. And a broad coalition of Americans joined with me. Eighty-one million voters voted for us, more than any time in all of history. Because of all of you in this room and others, we came together in 2020 to save democracy. 

As your President, I’ve been determined to keep America moving forward, not going back. To stand against hate and violence in all its forms. To be a nation where we not only live with but thrive on diversity, demonizing no one, leaving no one behind, and becoming a nation that we profess to be.

I also ran to rebuild the backbone of America, the middle class. I made a commitment to you that I’d be a President for all Americans, whether you voted for me or not. We have done that. Studies show the major bills we have passed actually delivered more to red states than blue, because the job of the President is to deliver to all of America. 

And because of you—and I’m not exaggerating, because of you—we’ve had one of the most extraordinary four years of progress ever. Period. When I say we, I mean Kamala and me. 

Just think about it. COVID no longer controls our lives. We got from economic crisis to the strongest economy in the entire world. Record 16 million new jobs. Record small business growth. Record high stock market. Record high 401(k)s. Wages up and inflation down, way down and continuing to go down. The smallest racial wealth gap in 20 years. And yes, we both know we have more to do, but we’re moving in the right direction. More Americans have peace of mind that comes from having health insurance. More Americans have health insurance today than ever before in American history. 

And after—as a young senator beginning to fight, beginning to fight for 50 years, to give Medicare the power to negotiate low prescription drug prices, we finally beat big Pharma. And guess who cast the tie breaking vote? Vice President soon-to-be President Kamala Harris. And now it’s the law of the land. Instead of paying $400 a month for insulin, seniors with diabetes will pay $35 a month. The law we passed already includes, starting in January, every senior’s total prescription costs can be capped at $2,000 no matter how expensive the drugs they have. And what we don’t focus on, and our Republican friends don’t seem to understand, our reforms don’t just save seniors money, they save the American taxpayers money. You know what we just passed saved? It saved $160 billion over the next decade. That’s not hyperbole. It’s because Medicare no longer has to pay those exorbitant prices to the Big Pharma.

But look. 

( Crowd chants: “Thank you, Joe!” ) Thank you, Kamala, too.

Look. Folks, how can we have the strongest economy in the world without the best infrastructure in the world? Donald Trump promised Infrastructure Week, every week for four years, and he never built a damn thing.

And now because of what Kamala and I have done—remember, we were told we couldn’t get it done? Remember, when we came into office, we couldn’t get anything passed?—but right now, we’re giving America an infrastructure decade not week. We’re modernizing our roads, our bridges, our ports, our airports, our trains, our buses, removing every lead pipe from schools and homes so every child could drink clean water. We’re providing affordable high speed internet for every American no matter where they live, unlike, not unlike what Roosevelt did with electricity. And so much more. We are uniting the country, we’re growing our economy, we’re improving our quality of life, and we’re building a better America. Because that’s who we are.

How can we be the strongest nation in the world without leading the world in science and technology? After years of importing 90% of our semiconductor chips from abroad, which America invented those chips, our CHIPS and Science Act meant that private companies from around the world are now investing literally tens of billions of dollars to build new chip factories right here in America. And over that period, they’ll create tens of thousands of jobs. And many of those jobs in the so-called Fabs, the buildings that make the chips that are being constructed now. And guess what? The average salary in those fabs, size of a football field, will be over $100,000 a year, and you don’t need a college degree. 

Because of you and so many electeds out there, American manufacturing is back. Where the hell does it say we wouldn’t lead the world in manufacturing. Eight-hundred-thousand new manufacturing jobs.

Our Republican friends and others made sure they’d go abroad to get the cheapest labor. We used to import products and export jobs. Now we export American products and create American jobs, right here in America, where jobs belong. With every new job, with every new factory, pride and hope is being brought back to communities throughout the country that were left behind. You know you’re from it, many of you. You know what it’s like when that factory closed where your mother, your father, your grandmother, grandfather worked. And now you’re back, providing once again, proving that Wall Street didn’t build America, the middle class built America, and unions—unions—built the middle class. 

It’s been my view since I came to the Senate and that’s why I’m proud to have been the first President to walk a picket line and be labeled the most pro-union President in history. And I accept it. That’s a fact. Because when unions do well, we all do well. 

( Crowd chants: “Union Joe!” ) You got it man. You got it. I agree. I’m proud.

Look, remember when we were told we couldn’t get anything done, we couldn’t get anything done in the Congress? Well, with your support, we passed the most significant climate law in the history of mankind. Over $370 billion. Cutting carbon emissions in half by 2030. Launching a Climate Corps similar to AmeriCorps and Peace Corps, creating tens of thousands of jobs for young people in the future who are gonna make sure this continues. Creating hundreds of thousands of jobs in clean energy for American workers, including the IBEW installing 500,000—500,000—charging stations all across America. And in the process, reducing carbon emissions.  And we’re seeing it, we’re seeing to it that the first beneficiaries of environmental initiatives are those fenceline communities that have been smothered by the legacy of pollution. Louisiana and Delaware, Route 9, all the factories, all those chemical factors are right next to the poorest neighborhoods. They’re the ones we’re going to bring back. 

And how, how can we be the greatest nation in the world without the best education system in the world? Donald Trump and the Republican friends—they not only can’t think, they can’t read very well. Seriously, think about it. Look at their Project 2025. They want to do away with the Department of Education. 

Well, during the pandemic, Kamala and I helped states and cities get back their schools back open. And we gave public school teachers a raise. We created apprenticeships with businesses in the communities, putting students on a path to a good paying job whether or not they go to college. And by the way, we’re making college a hell of a lot more affordable. Increasing Pell grants by $900. Over $15 billion dollars to HBCUs, minority-serving institutions including Hispanic institutions and tribal colleges. We kept our commitment to provide more student relief than ever by lifting the burden of helping millions of families so they could get married, start a family, buy a home, and begin to build family wealth and contribute to the community and grow our economy. It’s not costing us, it’s creating more wealth. 

We fundamentally transformed how our economy grows, from the middle-out and the bottom-up instead of the top-down. You know, my dad used to say there wasn’t a whole hell of a lot to drop down on my kitchen table at the end of the month. I come from a basic middle-class family—three bedroom house, four kids, a grandpop living with us, decent neighborhood, but never a penny to spare—and look, that top-down notion never worked. A lot of Democrats thought it worked, but it doesn’t. And when we did all that, what we’ve done, everybody can do well. Everybody.

Donald Trump calls America a failing nation. No, I’m saying, but think about this. Think about this. He publicly says to the whole world—I’m going to say something outrageous. I know more foreign leaders by their first names and know them well than anybody alive just because I’m so damn old. Well, I’m not joking—think of the message he sends around the world when he talks about America being a failing nation. 

He says, we’re losing. He’s the loser. He’s dead wrong. Many of you are very successful people who travel the world. Name me a country in the world that doesn’t think we’re the leading nation in the world. Without America—not a joke, think about it, I’m being literal—who can lead the world other than the United States of America? 

Well, guess what? America’s winning and the world’s better off for it. America’s more prosperous and America is safer today than under Donald Trump. Trump continues to lie about crime in America like everything else. Guess what? On his watch, the murder rate went up 30%, the biggest increase in history. Meanwhile, we made the largest investment, Kamala and I, in public safety ever. Now, the murder rate is falling faster than any time in history. Violent crime has dropped to the lowest level of more than 50 years. And crime will keep coming down when we put a prosecutor in the Oval Office instead of a convicted felon. 

And folks, the distinguished Senator from California and I passed the first ban on assault weapons. And guess what? It worked. If we care about public safety, we need to prevent gun violence. And what makes me ashamed when I've traveled the world, which I do, more children in America are killed by a gunshot than any other cause in the United States. More die from a bullet than cancer, accidents, or anything else in the United States of America. My God. That's why Kamala and I are proud. We beat the NRA when we passed the first major bipartisan gun safety law in 30 years. I am serious. That comes from here. ( Biden points to his heart. ) And now it’s time to ban assault weapons again and demand universal background checks. 

It’s hard. I never thought I’d stand before a crowd of Democrats and refer to a President as a liar so many times. No, I’m not trying to be funny. It’s sad. 

Trump continues to lie about the border. Here’s what he won’t tell you. Trump killed the strongest bipartisan border deal in the history of the United States that we negotiated with the Senate Republican took four weeks. Once it passed, and then we acknowledged those expansive border change in American history, he called senators to say, “Don’t support the bipartisan bill” because he said it would help me politically and hurt him politically. My God. No, I’m serious. Think about it. Not a joke. Ask even the press who doesn’t like me, they’ll tell you that’s true. Typically Trump, once again, putting himself first and America last. 

Then I had to take executive action. The result of the executive action I took: border encounters have dropped over 50%. In fact, there are fewer border crossings today than when Donald Trump left office. And unlike Trump, we will not demonize immigrants, saying they’re the poison of the blood of America, poison the blood of our country. Kamala and I are committed to strengthening legal immigration, including protecting Dreamers and more. 

And here’s what else I believe in: protecting your freedom. Your freedom to vote, your freedom to love who you love, and your freedom to choose. In its decision overturning Roe v. Wade , as you heard earlier tonight, the United States Supreme Court majority wrote the following, “Women are not without electoral or political power.” No kidding. MAGA Republicans found out the power of women in 2022. And Donald Trump is going to find out the power of women in 2024. Watch.

And where Trump and his MAGA Republican right wingers seek to erase history, we Democrats continue to write history and make more history. I’m proud. I’m proud to have kept my commitment to appoint the first Black woman in the United States Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson, a symbol for every young woman in America that you can do anything. I’m proud that I’ve kept my commitment to have an administration that looks like America and that taps into the full talent of our nation. The most diverse cabinet in history, including the first Black woman and South Asian descent to serve as Vice President—and will soon serve as the 47th President of the United States. 

She’s good. Look.

( Crowd chants: “Thank you, Joe!” ) Thank you, Kamala.

Folks, I’ve long said, we have many obligations as a nation. But I got in trouble years ago for saying I’d make no apologies. We have only one truly sacred obligation: to prepare and equip those we send to war and care for them and their families when they come home and when they don’t. That’s why I was so proud to have written and signed the PACT Act, one of the most significant laws ever, helping veterans and their families exposed to toxic materials like burn pits and Agent Orange. 

I was around during the Vietnam War. It’s hard. Nobody's able to prove that their illness is a consequence of Agent Orange. And no one was able to prove initially that because they lived in burn pits—like my son lived next to in Iraq for a year—that it was the cause of their illness. But because of the PACT Act, a surviving spouse to two children, is now eligible for a stipend of about $3,000 a month. And those children who lost a parent are eligible for tuition benefits to go to college and to get job training. It’s already helping over one million veterans and their families just so far. Well, I love them and I’m so proud of my son’s service. 

We get it. But guess who doesn’t get it—and doesn’t respect our veterans. We know from his own chief of staff, the four-star general John Kelly, that Trump when in Europe would not go to the grave sites, the one of—in France—the brave service members who gave their lives to this country. He called them suckers and losers. Who in the hell does he think he is? Who does he think he is? There’s no words for a person. They are not the words of a person—not worthy of being a commander-in-chief, period. Not then. Not now. And not ever. I mean that. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Just as no commander-in-chief should ever bow down to a dictator, the way Trump bows down to Putin. I never have, and I promise you, Kamala Harris will never do it, will never bow down. 

When Trump left office, Europe and NATO was in tatters. Not a joke. “America First” doctrine changed our whole image in the world. Well, I spent—they gave the hours, about 190 hours, sum total—[inaudible] with my counterparts or heads of state in Europe to strengthen NATO. We did. We united Europe like it hadn’t been united for years, adding Finland and Sweden to NATO. 

Ten days before he died, Henry Kissinger called and said, “Not since, not since Napoleon has Europe not looked over their shoulder at Russia with dread, until now. Until now.” Well, guess what? Putin thought he’d take Kyiv in three days. Three years later, Ukraine is still free. 

When I came to office, the conventional wisdom was that China would inevitably surpass the United States. They haven’t noticed: No one’s saying that now. 

And we’ll keep working to bring hostages home and end the war in Gaza and bring peace and security to the Middle East. As you know, I wrote a peace treaty for Gaza. A few days ago, I put forward a proposal that brought us closer to doing that than we’ve done since October 7th. We’re working around the clock, my Secretary of State, to prevent a wider war and reunite hostages with their families and surge humanitarian health and food assistance into Gaza now, to end the civilian suffering of the Palestinian people and finally, finally, finally deliver a ceasefire and end this war. 

Those protesters out in the street, they have a point. A lot of innocent people are being killed on both sides.

Just as we worked around the clock to bring home wrongfully detained Americans and others from Russia, in one of the most complicated swaps in history—but they’re home—Kamala and I are going to keep working to bring all Americans wrongfully detained around the world home. I mean it. 

Folks, I’ve got five months left in my presidency. I’ve got a lot to do. I intend to get it done.

It’s been the honor of my lifetime to serve as your President. I love the job, but I love my country more. I love my country more. 

And all this talk about how I’m angry with all those people who said I should step down—that’s not true. 

(Crowd chants: “We love Joe.”)

I love my country more, and we need to preserve our democracy. In 2024, we need you to vote. We need you to keep the Senate. We need you to win back the House of Representatives. And above all, we need you to beat Donald Trump and elect Kamala and Tim President and Vice President of the United States of America. 

Look, they’ll continue to lead America forward, creating more jobs, standing up for workers, growing the economy, lowering the cost of American families so they just have a little more breathing room. We made incredible progress, and we have more work to do. And Kamala and Tim will continue to take on corporate greed and bring down cost of food. They’ll keep taking on Big Pharma, making insulin $35 a month, not just for seniors but for everyone in America. And capping prescription drug cost to a total of $2,000, not just for seniors but for everyone. And folks, that’s going to save America again tens of billions of dollars. Folks, they’ll make housing more affordable, building 3 million new homes, providing $25,000 down payment assistance for the first-time home buyer, more than the 10 we approved.

Donald Trump wants a new tax on imported goods, food, gas, clothing, more. You know what that would cost the average family, according to the experts? $3,900 a year in tax. No, it’s a fact. Kamala and Tim will make the childcare tax credit permanent, lifting millions of children out of poverty and helping millions of families get ahead.

But you know what Trump has? He created the largest debt any President had in four years with his $2 trillion tax cut for the wealthy. Well, Trump has a new plan. He wants to provide a $5 billion tax cut for corporations that are very wealthy—read it—put us further in debt. And folks, you know we have a thousand billionaires in America. You know what their average tax rate they pay? 8.2%. If we just increased their taxes—we proposed to 25%, which isn’t the highest tax rate even—it would raise 500 billion new dollars over 10 years, and they’d still be very wealthy. Look, Kamala and Tim are going to make them pay their fair share. They’ll protect social security and Medicare. Trump wants to cut social security and Medicare. Kamala and Tim will protect your freedom. They’ll protect your right to vote. They’ll protect your civil rights. 

And you know Trump will do everything to ban abortion nationwide. Oh, he will. You know, Kamala and Tim will do everything they possibly can. That’s why you have to elect a Senate and a House to restore Roe v. Wade .

The ancient Greeks taught us that character is destiny. Character is destiny. For me and Jill, we know Kamala and Doug are people of character. It’s been our honor to serve alongside them. And we know that Tim and Gwen Walz are also people of great character. 

Selecting Kamala was the very first decision I made when I became our nominee. And it was the best decision I made my whole career. We’ve not only gotten to know each other, we’ve become close friends. She’s tough, she’s experienced, and she has enormous integrity. Enormous integrity. Her story represents the best American story. 

And like many of our best Presidents, she was also Vice President. That’s a joke. 

But she’ll be a President our children could look up to. She'll be a President respected by world leaders because she already is. She’ll be a President we can all be proud of. And she will be an historic President who puts her stamp on America’s future. 

This will be the first presidential election since January 6th. On that day, we almost lost everything about who we are as a country. And that threat—this is not hyperbole—that threat is still very much alive. Donald Trump says he will refuse to accept the election result if he loses again. Think about that. He means it. Think about that. He’s promising a “bloodbath” if he loses, in his words, and that he’ll be a dictator on “day one,” in his own words. By the way, this sucker means it. No, I’m not joking. Think about it. Anybody else said that in the past, you’d think he was crazy—he is crazy—but you’d think it was an exaggeration. But he means it. We can’t let that happen. 

Folks, all of us carry a special obligation. Independents, Republicans, Democrats. We saved democracy in 2020, and now we must save it again in 2024. The vote that each of us cast this year will determine whether democracy and freedom will prevail. It’s that simple. It’s that serious. And the power is literally in your hands. History’s in your hands. Not hyperbole. It’s in your hands. America’s future’s in your hands. 

Let me close with this: Nowhere else in the world could a kid with a stutter and modest beginnings in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Claymont, Delaware, grow up to sit behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office. That’s because America is and always has been a nation of possibilities. Possibilities. We must never lose that. Never. 

Kamala and Tim understand that this nation must continue to be a place of possibilities. Not just for the few of us, but for all of us. Join me in promising your whole heart to this effort. And where my heart will be, I promise I’ll be the best volunteer Harris and Walz’s camp have ever seen. 

Each of us has a part in the American story. For me and my family, there’s a song that means a lot to us, that captures the best of who we are as a nation. The song is called American Anthem . There’s one verse that stands out—and I can’t sing worth a damn so I’m not gonna try, I’ll just quote it—“The work and prayers of centuries have brought us to this day. What shall our legacy be? What will our children say? Let me know in my heart when my days are through. America, America, I gave my best to you.”

I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career, but I gave my best to you. For 50 years, like many of you, I’ve given my heart and soul to our nation. And I’ve been blessed a million times in return with the support of the American people. 

I’ve either been too young to be in the Senate because I wasn’t 30 yet and too old to stay as President. But I hope you know how grateful I am to all of you. 

I can honestly say, and I mean this from the bottom—I’ll give you my word as a Biden—I can honestly say I’m more optimistic about the future than I was when I was elected as a 29-year-old United States Senator. I mean it.

Folks, we just have to remember who we are. We’re the United States of America. And there's nothing we cannot do when we do it together. God bless you all, and may God protect our troops. Thank you.

Governor Lamont Highlights Growth of the Connecticut Youth Employment Program

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and Labor Commissioner Danté Bartolomeo today held a news conference at the YWCA Hartford Region to highlight the growth of the Connecticut Youth Employment Program , an initiative designed to help young people explore careers and bring them into the job market. The YWCA Hartford Region is one of the many partners across the state that are hiring youths under the program, which is overseen by the Connecticut Department of Labor and administered by the state’s five Workforce Development Boards.

Governor Lamont recently doubled funding for this program from $5 million in fiscal year 2024 to $10 million in fiscal year 2025. It connects young people ages 14 to 24 with meaningful opportunities that let them explore careers, work side-by-side with professionals who help them build career networks, and receive job training and experience, all while earning a paycheck.

“The Connecticut Youth Employment Program is a valuable workforce development initiative that gives young people an opportunity to build their resumes and gain valuable work experience, while also building a stronger workforce for employers,” Governor Lamont said . “Initiatives like this can changes lives around, especially for youths who are in need of professional guidance that can put them on the right track to building a successful career. I appreciate the many partners we have around Connecticut that are participating in this program and helping give youths an opportunity to build a foundation for a stable, productive life for themselves.”

Designed to break down employment barriers for young workers, the Connecticut Youth Employment Program covers participant salaries and other job-related expenses, such as uniforms and transportation to and from work. Approximately 94% of youths participating in the program are high school students, 2% are in college, and 4% are not in school. Additionally, with a focus on disconnected and underserved young people, the program provides community support and resources.
