• Must be a holder of a full Grade 12 Certificate . Professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
• Grade Twelve (12) Certificates must be certified by the Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ) .
• Must have a minimum height of 1.60 metres for males and 1.57 metres for females
• Must be single and without children.
• Must have no criminal record.
• Must be physically and mentally fit .
• For Non-Commissioned Officers Recruitment, those interested to join as Special Forces should apply as such.

To join the Zambian army, you need to be a citizen of Zambia, be between the age of 18-25, have the minimum academic qualification, be mentally and physically fit, have a valid national registration card, be free of criminal record, height for a female is 5.4 while a male is 5.8. Also, you should be able to express yourself orally and in written form.

How Long is Zambian Army Training?

Zambia Amry training takes about three to six (3-6) months across all the training centers or provinces in the country including Central, Copperbelt, Eastern, Luapula, Lusaka, Muchinga, North-Western, Northern, Southern, Western, etc.

The Zambia National Service (ZNS) is part of the Zambian Defence Force. It's main objectives revolve around land development, agriculture, industries, youth skills training as well as arts, sports and culture. It was established in 1963 as Land Army and was used as a militant wing of an indigenous major political party fighting for Zambia's independence at the time. It was later renamed the Zambia Youth Service in 1965, however, due to escalating liberation wars in the region, the Government felt the need for a more militant organization to augment the Zambia Army.

The Zambia Army, with Lieutenant General Dennis Sitali Alibuzwi - Army Commander, is part of the Zambian Defence Force. Like all branches of the Zambian military, citizens of the nation are required to register at 18 years old and citizens can join at 17 years with parental consent or at 18 years old when they are classified as adults in Zambia. There is currently no conscription. (There was Zambia National Defence Force conscription from 1975 to 1980.) 	Major General Tom Reid once served with the Kings African Rifles(Cenyral African Rifles) and took over from Maj Gen Grigg on 31 December 1967.
