The tuition fee of this university is free, yes, zero tuition fees but students have to take care of their living expenses such as accommodation, feeding, and buying school materials. The Free University of Berlin also offers several undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the English language.

Among these disciplines are Biochemistry, North American Studies, Chemistry, Data Science, English Literature, Medical Neuroscience, Mathematics, Physics, Pharmacy, Global History, etc.

2. University of Basel, Switzerland

With a spot amongst the 100 top universities in the world and established in 1460, the University of Basel is a prestigious institution in research. It provides world-class education through its diverse range of disciplines in the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs.

The University of Basel is one of the cheapest universities in Europe that teaches in English and German too, so international students coming to the school must possess one or two of the above language skills to help them pursue their careers to the fullest.

Students will have to provide proof of sufficient knowledge of either of the two languages, English or German, and attain the required score before being admitted and finally studying for their degrees.

As for its tuition, the University of Basel, Switzerland charges a fee of CHF 850 each semester for students while Doctoral candidates are charged a fee of CHF 350 each semester.

3. University of Wurzburg

This is a top-leading institution in Germany and ranked amongst Europe’s best 100 universities, founded in 1582 and is internationally known for its prestige in many scientific disciplines which include medicine, physics, biology, and psychology.

The University of Wurzburg is one of the cheap universities in Europe that teach in English for all of its programs and international students are requested to provide proof of English proficiency tests such as the IELTS , TOEFL, or Cambridge English Certificate.

Just like the Free University of Berlin, the University of Wurzburg does not charge any tuition for international students which makes both institutions among the free universities in the world for international students. The only fee you will pay at the University of Wurzburg is the semester contribution each semester for enrollment or re-enrollment. This contribution consists of a student’s contribution and the semester ticket.

4. Heidelberg University

This is a public research university established in 1386 and offers various disciplines for undergraduate and graduate degree programs

Heidelberg University is one of the cheap universities in Europe that teach in English, with its low tuition fees you can get a quality education and receive a world-class degree. As part of the application requirements, international students must take and pass the English proficiency test and submit the test scores to be considered for admission.

The accepted English proficiency tests and their required minimum test scores are;

TOEFL – 79 for computer-based and 550 for paper-based
IELTS – 6.5
GTEC – 1180 and
Cambridge – 180

Students who do not meet up to any of the English proficiency test scores can still be admitted but may have to take ESL courses through the Heidelberg English Language Institute (HELI) prior to starting classes in a degree program.

Heidelberg University Tuition fee: International students from European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries are charged a fee of €171.75 while international students from non-European Union (EU) and non-European Economic Area (EEA) countries are required to pay a tuition of €1,500 per semester.

5. University of Pisa

Ranking as the 6 th best university in Italy, where it is located, the University of Pisa has been providing excellent yet affordable education at cheap rates to international students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

In a bid to expand its internationalization, the University of Pisa offers some bachelor’s and master’s degree disciplines in the English language which is why it is compiled among the cheap universities in Europe that teach in English.

The bachelor’s degree program costs $2,500 annually while graduate degree programs cost $2,307 annually.

6. University of Gӧttingen
