Step 1 Open the PowerPoint presentation you want to upload.

  • Click the slide you want to start recording from.
  • Click Record in the upper right side of the menu bar. You may be prompted to allow access to your microphone.
  • You can also type a script for yourself at the top of the window if you'd like.
  • You’ll see a 3-second countdown before the recording starts.
  • Click the Stop button at the top of the screen when you’re done (it’s in the same place as the Record button, but it will turn into a square Stop button while you’re recording).
  • Use the navigation arrows below the slide to move to the next slide.

  • You can also create a new PowerPoint directly in OneDrive if you want.

Step 3 Click the Share tab.

• By default, anyone with access to the link can edit your PowerPoint online. If you want to change this, click Anyone with the link can edit at the bottom of the popup and select your preferred sharing options.

How to Share PowerPoint on Facebook

Have some gorgeous PowerPoint that you like to share on Facebook? Wow, that's cool! But "how" could be the problem you need to solve. In the past, you might know that only videos can be uploaded to Facebook for sharing. But actually, PPT files can be shared on Facebook. There are two basic ways you can adopt to upload PPT to Facebook. One is via the app in Facebook name as Slideshare. And another is converting PPT to Facebook friendly videos. Let's take a look at the two ways carefully.

Via App SlideShare on Facebook

Before you try this method, you should go to slideshare.net, signup an account. Without the account information, you cannot upload PPT to Facebook via the app, SlideShare, at all.

Login Facebook and search for Slideshare. After you find the application, add it to your application section. After that you could see the SlideShare page appears on Facebook. Then it displays the "sync SlideShare.net Account" option. All you need is click it combine your Facebook account with the SlideShare account.

After that, you could click the "Upload" button to upload your PowerPoint to Facebook. When the process is over, the PPT is in the "My Slidespace" section. Then you can click the "Post to Wall" option.

I have to say this method is not so good, because these well-prepared PowerPoint slides are displayed like pictures. The animation and other effects just are lost.

Convert PPT to video

You must know that it is very easy to upload video to Facebook. This method just has followed the logic. Before you begin, you should download and install the app, PPT2Video Pro, we're going to use. Ok, just let's start.

Download Win Version

Launch PPT2Video Pro and click "Create Video Files", then follow the steps below.

Step 1. Click "Add"button to import your PowerPoint to the app and press "Next".

Step 2. On the "settings" interface, in the format drop-down list, choose "Facebook video" in the category of "Online Video". Then click "Next".

Step 3. Set the folder to save the target video and hit "Start".

Bingo! Just in a few second, you could see the target videos. The music and annotations in the PPT are fully preserved. Then you can login your Facebook and share the PPT on Facebook.

Two Ways to Share PowerPoint on Facebook

Facebook is a social networking site which is enormously popular. It can be used both for keeping tabs on friends, and as a highly effective business tool for marketing and connecting with customers. For individuals, funny presentations or photo slideshows are usually made with PowerPoint. When it comes to business, PowerPoint is frequently used for creating company profiles, product brochures or service advertisements.

For the wide spread of these PowerPoint files, upload the PowerPoint Presentation to Facebook seems like a good idea. So, how can we share these PowerPoint files on Facebook to let more people enjoy the fun or promote your business better? Here I would like to introduce two effective ways for you.

Solution 1: Use the Slideshare Application on Facebook

Facebook doesn’t support uploading and sharing PowerPoint files directly yet. But with this Slideshare application on Facebook, you can share the presentation easily.

Step1: Login Facebook with your account. Search “slideshare”, and add it in your application area. After you finish adding it, you will be able to see the SlideShare page appears on Facebook.

Step2: If you already have a SlideShare account, click Sync SlideShare.net Account. By doing this, the application will connect Facebook with your slideshare account. And then you will be able to see the presentations you uploaded to slideshare.

Step3: Click Upload to upload your PowerPoint files. After the uploading process is over, you can find the presentation in My Slidespace area. Click on the thumbnail of it, and you will be able to share and post it in your wall. Your friends can then view the presentation directly from Facebook, and post comments or likes.

Disadvantage: The animations, transitions, sounds and video clips in your presentation will not be retained. The PowerPoint file will be played just like a series of static pictures. If you want all the features you have added to PowerPoint presentation to be kept, you may use the second solution.

Solution 2: Share PowerPoint File as Video on Facebook

As we know, we can upload a video to Facebook directly. So, if we can transfer PowerPoint file to a video, sharing PowerPoint on Facebook will be no longer difficult. This PowerPoint to video converter is recommended for doing this: Wondershare PPT2Video Pro .

First, import PowerPoint files to this program. After that, choose the output video format as AVI, FLV, MPEG, MOV or WMV that Facebook supports. Finally click Start, and your presentations will be automatically converted to a Facebook compatible video with all elements retained. You can then upload the video to Facebook with your account directly.

With the two methods above, you can now share your PowerPoint files on Facebook easily. Have fun and make the most of it.

Can You Post Powerpoint Files on Facebook?

By Steve McDonnell

You can't share a PowerPoint presentation on Facebook by uploading the PPT file. However, you can turn your PowerPoint presentation into a video using the built-in "Save & Send" option, and then upload and share the video. If you've narrated your slides and set custom timings for each slide, the video reflects your settings.

Create Video File

Launch PowerPoint and open your presentation.

Choose "File" and "Save & Send" from the menu.

Choose "Create a Video." Select the target display device, such as "Computer and HD Displays." Select "Use Recorded Timings and Narrations" if you recorded a narration in PowerPoint and set up timings for each slide.

Click "Create Video." Select a destination folder, enter a file name for the video and choose "Save."

Post the Video to Facebook

Launch Facebook and sign in to your account.

Select "News Feed" if it doesn't appear as the default view. Choose "Add Photos/Video" and select "Upload Photos/Video."

Navigate to the folder where you saved the video, select the video file to upload and choose "Open."

Type a description of the slideshow or any other information you want to include with the video when it's posted to your news feed.

Click the arrow next to the Post button and adjust the security settings. Choose the people or groups who are allowed to see the video if you want to restrict the audience. Select "Post" to post your PowerPoint presentation as a video file on Facebook.

How to Create Social Media Videos With PowerPoint

Carla Albinagorta

PowerPoint is a fantastic graphic tool that very few people take full advantage of! While making presentations is its primary use, there are actually dozens of other uses you can give to it. Using PowerPoint can help you upgrade your social media content more than you’ve ever thought. Here you’ll learn how to create social media videos using PowerPoint. Whether it’s to add some extra elements to an already existing video or making one from scratch, for Instagram, Facebook, or Linkedin, PowerPoint can help you create content that will catch your audience’s eye!

create social media videos using PowerPoint

Why use PowerPoint for Social Media marketing?

While PowerPoint might not be the go-to software for creating social media content, you will be amazed at how versatile it actually is! It offers a wide array of very intuitive design tools, even for someone with little design experience. Photoshop, Illustrator, or After Effects… these are usually the default for those working on creating visual content. However, these types of software demand to be brought separately and have a steep learning curve.

The biggest advantage of PowerPoint is that chances are, you already have it installed on your computer! As part of the Microsoft Office Suite, it’s a widespread tool, so you’re probably already familiarized with its workspace. It doesn’t need any particular hardware specifications like some of the “bigger” programs do. Despite its apparent simplicity, you can do some incredible videos for social media with PowerPoint. Don’t believe it? Check out this video for 24Slides ’ professional presentation design services:

Believe it or not, this video has been done 100% in PowerPoint. As you can see, it looks incredibly professional and clean. PowerPoint offers a ton of options for creating videos for social media. It’s more intuitive and friendly than many other design software. Its transition and animations options are pre-programmed, so you can create a smooth-running video without all the trouble of animating element by element manually. In short, it’s a great option to have when working on your social media content!

Things to consider when making a social media video

If you’re already familiar with making presentation slides in PowerPoint, you might feel tempted to approach making videos for social media exactly the same. However, it’s important to remember that videos, especially social media ones, need a very different approach.

For starters, when doing a presentation, your audience is most likely already interested in the topic. At the very least, they are probably open to the subject (since they are attending your presentation for a reason). On the contrary, in social media, your content is always going to fight to get attention. Social media channels are extremely “noisy,” and there are thousands and thousands of videos and images that people can go through. It is constantly updating itself and growing.

That’s why so much social media content is focused on what it can offer to the viewer. Instead of just advertisement for the product or service, social media content usually focuses on getting the target’s attention by giving them valuable and useful content. Ask yourself why your audience should keep watching. This way, you’ll be able to think it through and be very strategic with the content you make. Here are other things to take into consideration when creating social media videos with PowerPoint:

More visual elements, less text

According to studies, the average attention span on Facebook is between 1.7 and 2.5 seconds . This means you have around 2 seconds to convince a person they want to continue watching your video. Human brains are naturally wired to pay more attention to images than text. That’s why visual content is so prominent on all sorts of platforms. Make sure that the social media videos you’re creating with PowerPoint take full advantage of the visual aspect. While it might be tempting to add a written explanation as you would on a presentation, keep the text at a minimum. Use keywords and visual elements to convey your message in a more engaging way.

create social media videos with PowerPoint

Make it short and sweet.

Following the last point, it’s essential to make your content bite-size. The overall ideal length of your video depends on what platform you’re using . But the general rule is to make it as short as possible. A short attention span on social media also means that people jump quickly from one publication to the next. That’s why it is extra important to deliver your message as efficiently as possible and don’t drag it too long!

Exploit PowerPoint tools!

PowerPoint offers an amazing array of tools that can be used to create social media videos. Animations and transitions will make your video run smoothly. If you have Office 365, great options to take into consideration are the Morph and Zoom features . The Morph tool, in particular, will allow you to “transform” certain elements from one slide to the next automatically! This will give your video a more professional, seamless look without any work.

Social Media aspect ratios

Take into consideration that different social media channels have different aspect ratios and limitations. For example, Facebook and Instagram stories have a vertical aspect ratio of 9:16. However, Instagram in-feed videos work better with a square 1:1. These aspect ratios are constantly changing, so you must know what platform you’re posting your video to and the preferred specifications. Here you can find SproutSocial’s always-up-to-date guide of video specs to make sure you’re on the right track.

Luckily for you, when working on a social media video with PowerPoint, you can customize it to fit your needs perfectly ! You just need to go to the de Design tab > Slide Size > Custom Slide Size . You’ll get a new window where you can make your slide fit precisely the aspect ratio you’re looking for. Don’t forget to make your videos big enough, so it doesn’t lose any quality when posted online. For example, a good size for a Facebook square video would be 12.5 x 12.5.

How to create a social media video with PowerPoint from an already existing video

If you want to make an already existing video more social media-friendly, PowerPoint is a great option. You can add your recording to your slides just like you would in a common presentation. This way, you’ll be able to crop it, ad a frame, text, or extra graphics, and download it as a video.

Step 1: Customize your slide aspects

As it was said in the section before, one of the best things about making videos for social media in PowerPoint is that you can customize them. This way, you’ll have content that fits perfectly whatever channel you’re going to use. You just need to go to the Design tab > Slide Size > Custom Slide Size . In the new window that pops up, you’ll be able to add the aspect ratio that better fits your needs.

how to upload powerpoint presentation on facebook

In this example, I will be making an Instagram Story post. This means my slide size will follow the 9:16 aspect ratio.

Step 2: Insert your video into your slide

Go to the Insert tab > Video . Here you will be able to choose whatever video you want to add, or even choose from the PowerPoint stock video library.

Step 3: Adjust video settings

By clicking on your video, you’ll be able to access the Video Format tab . This is where you can edit your video as much as you want. You can change the color, brightness, add different “styles” and frames, and even change the overall shape of your video. Here you can also crop your video to make sure it fits your slide perfectly and that everything that you want to showcase is within the frame.

how to upload powerpoint presentation on facebook

Step 4: Add graphics and text

Now that you have your main video ready, it’s time to add all the compliments! You can add anything you would add to a normal PowerPoint slide. Text, images, shapes, icons, your imagination is the limit!

Remember that you can also add animations and transitions to these elements. This will make the elements “appear” in a certain order, versus just “being there” from the start. You can even customize the effects to change directions and durations.

Step 5: Make your video run automatically

This is an extremely important step when making social media videos with PowerPoint! In order to get your video to work, you first need to set it to run automatically. Otherwise, when you export it, your video will remain as a still image. Luckily this is very easy to do.

Click on your video and choose the Playback tab option. In this section, you’ll be able to customize all the video settings and how it will look when played. In the Video Options section, choose Start: automatically . Here you can also choose if you want to video to loop or rewind once it’s over.

If you have added text, graphics, or other elements with animation effects, you must also make them run automatically.

Step 6: Export as a video

Now you’re all done! If you haven’t yet, play your video first as you would a normal slide to make sure it looks exactly as you wanted it to be. Take into consideration that all animation effects and your video should run automatically, no clicks needed.

export powerpoint as video for social media content

Once you’re sure it is perfect, you just need to go to File > Export > Create a Video . Choose the quality you want for your video and how long you want to spend on each slide. Since all your video is condensed into one slide, this time should be the length of your original video so you don’t lose any footage. Select Create Video , and you’re all done!

Final note: Once it’s in video form, you won’t be able to edit it. That’s why you might want to save the document as a PowerPoint file too ! This will allow you to go back and edit it in case you need it. Otherwise, you’ll need to do everything back to back!

How to create social media videos from scratch with PowerPoint

You can also use PowerPoint to create social media videos from scratch! You can add content to different slides and use transitions to give the effect of a seamless animation.

Just like last time, start by choosing the technical aspects of your video. Change your canvas size in the Design tab > Slide Size > Custom Slide Size to fit the aspect ratio of the social media platform you’re going to use.

In this case, I’ll be using a 12.5×12.5 to create with PowerPoint a square social media video. This will make it fit both Instagram and Facebook organic feeds.

Step 2: Get your slides done!

Now that you have your canvas, it is time to get to the design aspect of it all! To make your life a little easier, you can use a template to help you with the design. You’ll probably have to edit it to fit the slides’ new aspect ratio, but it’s still a good starting point! In this case, I’ll be using one from our Templates by 24Slides free library .

Work your way through the slides and add all the elements you want in your social media video. Remember to make the most of the visual elements like images and icons, and keep the text to the minimum!

Step 3: Add animations

Now it’s time to make it look like a video instead of just PowerPOint slides. A great option for Office 365 users is the Morph feature . This tool will make your slides have a seamless transition between slides by identifying similar elements and “transforming” them one into the next from slide to slide. Learn more about how to use the morph feature here .

You can also add animation effects within one same slide. This will make specific elements appear (or exit) in their own way and. If you have animations in one same slide that need to follow a certain order or too many elements, the Animation Pane tool is a must! This side window will let you see all the active animations and transitions in each slide, what order will they appear in, their duration, and their start cue.

While this process might seem complicated at first, it’s all about trial-and-error. It’ll probably take a time to get used to it. It’s all about playing it over and over and tuning it up until it looks exactly as you want it to be!

Step 4: Export as a video

Finally, it’s time to turn your PowerPoint file into a video you can use for social media. go to File > Export > Create a Video . Pick your video quality and how much time you want to spend on each slide. Don’t forget to save it as a PowerPoint file too, so you can edit it later if needed!

And there you have it, a social media video created 100% with PowerPoint!

Leave PowerPoint in our hands!

It’s always nice to have new tool options, and PowerPoint is definitely one to consider when talking about creating social media videos. Its amazing graphic tools and animation features will help you make a video that looks professional with minimum effort.

However, as intuitive as PowerPoint is, creating a video from scratch will still need practice and effort to make. And creating slides that look appealing to the eye still needs some design knowledge. While you can probably make it on your own, why waste time on such a secondary task?

Whether it’s an outstanding presentation, an eye-catching infographic, or a professional video, 24Slides ’ designers will use their PowerPoint expertise to give you the best possible product. And the best thing is, you can just sit back and relax! Use your time smartly on developing your social media strategy, while our professional designers do all the heavy lifting.

The best movies new to streaming this September

Period romances, anime fantasies, and fast-moving hedgehogs

by Toussaint Egan , Austen Goslin , and Polygon Staff

Emma-0525

August is finally over, and you know what that means: Summer is almost over! Before we can start putting away our swimsuits and busting out our finest fall-themed sweaters, however, we’ll have to make it through September first. There’s a ton of exciting new releases coming to theaters this month, including Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Megalopolis, as well as movies new to streaming.

If you’re looking for the best movies you can stream from home this September, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve pored over this month’s newest arrivals to bring you the very best of the best of what to stream. We’ve got an Oscar-winning animated drama, an irreverent neo-noir mystery, a brilliant adaptation of a classic Jane Austen novel, and much more.

Here are the movies new to streaming services you should watch this month.

Editor’s pick: The Boy and the Heron

A boy with a visible scar on his head stares sternly at a leering bird with visible teeth in The Boy and the Heron.

Where to watch: Max Genre: Fantasy drama Director: Hayao Miyazaki Cast: Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda, Aimyon

The latest Oscar-winning animated feature from Hayao Miyazaki is arguably his most personal and deeply moving work yet. Inspired by Miyazaki’s own childhood growing up in post-WWII Japan, The Boy and the Heron follows the story of Mahito, a young boy grieving the death of his mother. Moving to the countryside with his newly remarried father and step-mother, Mahito is despondent over the cruelties of the world.

After crossing paths with a mysterious shape-shifting heron, Mahito embarks on a journey to the land of the dead in hopes of reuniting with his mother and learning an important lesson: how do you continue to live in the wake of loss? Brilliantly animated and achingly beautiful, The Boy and the Heron is a phenomenal meditation on mortality, grief, and artistic aspiration made all the more moving considering the film’s parallels to Miyazaki’s own life and legacy. I wouldn’t recommend it as the first Hayao Miyazaki movie one should watch — maybe start with Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke — but it is a must-watch all the same. —Toussaint Egan

New on Netflix

Sonic the hedgehog.

sonic the hedgehog (redesigned) looks at a drone floating outside a car window in Sonic the Hedgehog

Genre: Comedy Director: Jeff Fowler Cast: Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Jim Carrey

Let’s get this out of the way: yes, there’s a few fart jokes and flossing references in Sonic the Hedgehog . But there’s a whole lotta heart in the movie, and Sonic himself is absolutely adorable, especially when you realize that he’s supposed to be a precocious (yet deeply lonely) preteen. I want to give him a hug! Also every live-action actor fully delivers on their performances, from Jim Carrey’s delightfully unhinged Dr. Robotnik to James Marsden’s everyman police officer, and just makes the interaction with the cartoony Sonic even better. —Petrana Radulovic

New on Hulu

Die hard with a vengeance.

Two disheveled man looking over the railing of a metal bridge in Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Genre: Action thriller Director: John McTiernan Cast: Bruce Willis, Jeremy Irons, Samuel L. Jackson

Far and away the best of the Die Hard sequels, and in certain circles a candidate for best movie in the whole series, Die Hard with a Vengeance transports John McClane back to his native New York for a face off with a deadly terrorist who’s planted bombs all over the city.

The movie’s biggest strength is that it doesn’t try to recreate the highs of the original movie, but is instead mostly a cat and mouse game with the terrorist, played wonderfully by Jeremy Irons, giving McClane and his partner Zeus Carver, Samuel L. Jackson fresh off of Pulp Fiction, clues to finding the bombs, all to distract from his real plot.

Die Hard With a Vengeance brings back the original film’s director John McTiernan, who shoots the action brilliantly, replacing the cramped spaces of Nakatomi Plaza with the cramped streets of New York as Jackson and Willis rush from one borough to the next, always feeling a step behind. It all makes for a terrific new setting for one of action’s best characters, and one of the best thrillers of the 90s. —Austen Goslin

Inherent Vice

Joaquin Phoenix and Michael K. Williamsshaking hands in front of a map of Los Angeles in Inherent Vice.

Genre: Neo-noir comedy Director: Paul Thomas Anderson Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson

Few things are better on film than watching a detective slide through life and slink through a case, and few movies have ever depicted that like Inherent Vice .

Paul Thomas Anderson’s adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon novel follows Doc Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix), a private investigator in the ’70s who stumbles into a massive conspiracy that involves a secret society and maybe the whole of Los Angeles. The mystery takes half a dozen baffling turns, and like most noir stories ends up confusing enough that you and the characters can only really follow about half of it. But that’s not what’s important here.

What makes Inherent Vice truly brilliant is its vibes. Phoenix’s pothead detective is one of the best slapstick characters of the 2010s, and Josh Brolin’s straight-laced detective has two or three of the funniest deadpan reads ever put on film. Anderson shoots his LA of the ’70s with tremendous love and care, and fills out every single one of its office buildings and seedy alleys with tremendous character actors like Martin Short, Benicio del Toro, Jena Malone, Owen Wilson, and more. Even if you can’t keep the movie’s conspiracy straight, or map out all its major players, Inherent Vice is the kind of movie that you can sink into and by the time the credits roll you’ll wish you could stay inside its vibes and charm for at least a few more hours. —AG

New on Prime Video

Emma giving a side eye toward Harriet as she slowly eats a strawberry in Emma. (2020)

Genre: Period romcom Director: Autumn de Wilde Cast: Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn, Josh O’Connor

The world doesn’t hold the same space it used to for Jane Austen adaptations, and that’s a damn shame. Thankfully, this 2020’s excellent adaptation of Emma fills at least a small part of that vacancy.

Unlike movies like Clueless that take a modern bent to Austen’s work, this version, directed by Autumn de Wilde, approaches it in its original time period. The result is a thoroughly gorgeous movie, with exquisite costumes, and a whole lot of venomous words said with a smile.

The whole thing rests on the shoulders of a tremendous lead performance by Anya Taylor-Joy, who performs the incredible balancing act of making Emma mean, cruel, petty, and eminently likable and charming. Of course, Joy is also aided by a ridiculously talented supporting cast that includes Josh O’Connor, Johnny Flynn, Callum Turner, Mia Goth, and Bill Nighy. —AG
