This is probably the most common way you’ll be uploading your resume to LinkedIn. It’s also the smartest way. Your chances of getting to the next round for an opening you’re qualified for are much higher if you tailor your resume to each job. This method allows you to upload a tailored resume for each posting you apply to.

Click the “Easy Apply” button on the job posting.

  • Under the “Resume” field, click on the oval “Upload resume” button. (You may need to click “Next” in the bottom right corner if the “Resume” field isn’t on the first page.)
  • If you’ve previously uploaded a resume, LinkedIn will automatically select it. Click the gray “x” on the right side of the file name, and you’ll be given the option to select or upload another resume.
  • Select the correct resume using the file picker that appears.

Note: If there’s no “Easy Apply” option for the job, clicking “Apply” will take you away from LinkedIn, and resume upload instructions will vary.

Please note that the resume you attach shouldn’t differ from the information stated on your LinkedIn profile, since the platform connects a copy of your entire profile along with the information you have indicated in the pop-up “Easy Apply” window. Your resume and LinkedIn versions shouldn’t be exact copies, but the events and numbers should match. 

Recruiters scan profiles first and then go to resumes. There is no point rushing the job search if something still needs further rework. Make sure both your application and profile look well-structured and attractive. 

Here are a few final notes on uploading your resume to the platform:

  • The platform saves recently submitted resumes, whether you use the mobile or desktop site. You can reuse old versions whenever you need them for future job applications. If using the LinkedIn Job Search App, however, the files won’t appear on the list of recently used resumes.
  • When you submit your resume, the author of the job post isn’t the only person who can see it. The recruiter can share it within their company.

Adding your resume to LinkedIn increase the touchpoints for the recruiter viewing your profile. They could easily click on it and get a deeper understanding of all your experiences. Here is a step-by-step guide to adding your resume to LinkedIn.

Step 1: Head over to Linkedin

Enter the URL for  Linkedin  and navigate to the website. Here there are multiple ways for you to get to your profile. The easiest way would be to click on your profile picture on the left-hand side.

Step 2: Navigate to your profile by clicking on the profile picture

Once you’re in your profile navigate down to the featured section. In my case I already have some posts on the featured section, you can also add other posts but now we will upload a resume to this section. The featured is quite important because when a recruiter visits your profile this comes on top and they can interact with the post and links that you have shared here.

When you tap on the plus button, you’ll notice that there are a lot of different kinds of featured items that you can add. You can add posts, articles, links, and media. In this case, we will add media.

Follow these steps to upload your resume directly to your profile:

Step #1: Click the Me tab on the top toolbar below your profile photo.

Step #2: Choose View Profile from the drop-down menu that appears.

Step #4: If you don't see the “ Featured” section , it might be disabled. If that’s the case, scroll to the top of your profile and select “ Add profile section” , then “ Recommended” , and then “ Add featured”, and finally "Add Media" .

Step #5: Otherwise, if your Featured section is enabled, click Add Favorites or the plus icon , and select Media from the drop-down menu.

However, the real question here is , is using a LinkedIn profile as a resume a good idea?

The answer is no .

The LinkedIn resume is simply not that effective for several reasons:

  • It simply doesn’t look that good. And yes, your resume’s design does matter. The cleaner your resume layout, the easier it is to scan, and as such, more likely to get read by the HR manager.
  • It’s not comprehensive enough. Your LinkedIn profile should not be as detailed as your resume. The purpose of a LI profile is to act as a brief introduction to you as a professional, not to sell you as a candidate.
  • The output might be too long. Generally, you want to keep your resume length to one, maybe two pages max. A LinkedIn profile export can be longer than that.

Most people know LinkedIn as a professional networking site, but it's also one of the world's largest job-posting sites. In fact, many potential employers prefer LinkedIn over other job boards because of its large pool of potential candidates and its wide range of filtering options.

However, just having a great LinkedIn profile – as important as that is– will not always be what grabs an employer's attention. You should also upload your resume to LinkedIn because each one has a specific role to play in your job search.

Why add your resume to LinkedIn?

Your LinkedIn profile and resume actually complement each other – especially when both are well-crafted.

Your resume is a concise, professional, and fact-based document tailored for a specific career or job position that employers use to determine if you're qualified for their specific position. 

Your profile, on the other hand, presents a broader picture of yourself using more personable/conversational language and can include information that wouldn't be on your resume.

So, while a resume and LinkedIn profile work hand-in-hand to present a wider and more complete picture of what you can bring to the table, employers will still want to see a customized resume, not just your profile.

There are four different ways you can get your resume onto your LinkedIn profile.

Option 1: The 'Easy Apply' process for uploading resume to LinkedIn

With this option, job seekers can upload and save numerous resumes to use when applying for specific jobs. This ensures you are able to use tailored versions of your resume that include the required keywords that future employers will be searching for.

Here are the steps for using Easy Apply :

In LinkedIn, click the 'Jobs' tab in the navigation bar.

Search for a job by title or location. Click on a job title to get details, and then press the 'Easy Apply' button on any jobs you want to apply for. A note from LinkedIn: “If you see the 'Apply' button instead of the 'Easy Apply' button, you'll be routed to that company's website or job board to continue the job application process.”

Upload your resume to include it in the job application. LinkedIn will save the last five resumes you uploaded, along with the date you last used each version, so you can easily apply for similar jobs in the future.

A good tip is to vary your resume file names to keep track of which ones are for which jobs so you can easily find them with a search. For example, Richard.Jones.Programmer.doc or Richard.Jones.Data.Analyst.doc.

Remember that a resume on your LinkedIn account should still follow the rules of good resume writing that you'd use for applying on other sites. Be professional and concise, and customize each resume to the specific position you're after using your title, summary section, and the keywords from the job description.

Option 2: Resumes and application data space for uploading resume to LinkedIn

LinkedIn has a dedicated page on which you can store your different resumes. Ultimately, this is where they're saved when you use the 'Easy Apply' feature that we talked about for Option 1. You can add your resumes to this 'Resumes and application data' page without weeding through job listings to find those with the 'Easy Apply' option. Additionally, you can navigate to this landing page to update the resumes that LinkedIn pulls from when you apply for jobs. 

This is also the place to turn the saved resumes feature on or off. There are toggle switches for

Option 3: Uploading resume to your LinkedIn profile

This option makes a “general” copy of your resume available as a separate document on your LinkedIn profile. We don't recommend this choice for several very good reasons:

No Privacy: Unless you've taken certain steps to keep your job search private , all of your information will be publicly available from your resume with this process. This is a bad choice if your job search is confidential.

Lack of Control: When your custom resume is uploaded in this way, anyone can see it, copy it, download it, or use it without your knowledge or consent.

Prevents Customization: Uploading a “general” resume means it's not customized for a particular job opening, which means It will be ignored by most hiring managers.

Poor Knowledge of LinkedIn: Because it's not really a regular job board , posting your resume in your profile tells recruiters that you don't understand how LinkedIn actually works. Don't substitute your resume for your profile. Focus on creating a detailed profile that works with your resume to give a complete view of your job experience and skills.

If you do choose to use this option, here's how it works:

In your profile, scroll down to the “Featured” section and click on the plus sign on the right-hand side to open a drop-down box. 

Click on the plus sign in the “Media” section at the bottom of the drop-down box to upload your resume.

Click on your resume file to upload it as part of your “Featured” section. Save it as “[Your Name] resume mm/yyyy” so you can locate it quickly if needed.

Option 4: Creating a new post on your feed for uploading resume to LinkedIn

It can be easy to forget that LinkedIn is, first and foremost, a social media site. The first thing you see when you type in LinkedIn's main URL is your feed. Here, you can see things that other people have posted. Some people opt to include their resumes in a post that the other folks in their network can see, like, and comment on. 

All you have to do is start typing in the “Start a post” box at the top of your feed. Avoid uploading your resume to the feed without taking the time to write a post that goes with it. There has to be a reason you're uploading your resume to your feed, or else people will likely ignore it.

When you click the “Start a post” box, a new window will open that asks, “What do you want to talk about?” Use that space to talk about your reason for sharing your resume. Then, click the three dots at the bottom of the window to expand your options and find the icon to add a document. Click that icon, locate your resume on your computer, and click “Done” to add it to your post. 

Important note: When you add your resume to a post, people will be able to download it as a PDF. 

Uploading your tailored resume on LinkedIn

Remember that recently uploaded resumes posted to LinkedIn can be subject to scanning by an Applicant Tracking System, or ATS, just as with other online job sites, so make sure your targeted resume is ATS optimized with the appropriate keywords and formatting before you upload.

Attach a customized resume to each LinkedIn job application. This gives you the best chance of standing out to the ATS and recruiters, which can lead to an initial interview.

Add your resume to LinkedIn during Easy Apply

If you find a job opportunity with the option for Easy Apply, you can upload your resume when prompted.

To add your resume to LinkedIn during Easy Apply:

1. Search LinkedIn for job opportunities that interest you.

Narrow down your search by using the filters right below the search box. You can specify the job type, salary range, and experience level, among others.

You can also click the “Easy Apply” button in the filters section to show only the job postings with the Easy Apply feature.

2. Click on the job title to open the information panel for the position.

When you click the job you are interested in, all job post details will be displayed on the right side of the screen. You will find the scope of the job, requirements, location, and other important information.

3. Click on “Easy Apply” and fill out the required information fields.

Once you click the “Easy Apply” button, you will be required to complete fields like your name, email address, phone number, and home address. Be sure to complete all the required fields.

4. Under “Resume,” click the button to upload your resume as a .doc, .docx, or PDF file that’s 2MB or less in size.

5. Complete all required fields and submit your application when finished.

Once you upload your resume, there will be a few more required fields asking for more information about you. Complete all the fields, verify that all information is correct, and hit “Submit.”

LinkedIn will send you application updates when the job poster downloads your resume.

You can add your resume to your LinkedIn account for future job applications by going to Job Application Settings .

To navigate to that page from your LinkedIn feed:

1. Go to the navigation bar and click “Me.”

2. In the dropdown menu, select “Settings & Privacy.”

Open “Settings & Privacy” to adjust your profile visibility, messaging settings, and select your preferences.

2. In the pop-up, click “Add Featured.”

Your “Featured” options include writing posts, adding articles, and sharing links to help frame your profile as an industry expert.

3. Click the plus (+) sign in the upper right-hand corner and choose “Add Media.”

Of course, uploading your resume to LinkedIn during the job application process is fine. After all, most employers still want to see your resume and don’t satisfy themselves with looking at your LinkedIn profile. 

However, if you’ve been meaning to include your resume in your LinkedIn profile for the whole world to see, you may want to reconsider. Here’s why:

Finally, you can opt to use your LinkedIn as a standalone part of your job search. You don't need to upload your resume if you already have all the important information on your LinkedIn!

How to Add Your Resume to LinkedIn

There are two ways to add your resume to LinkedIn: uploading it to your profile and when you apply for a job via LinkedIn.

In both cases, you need to create a resume and download it to your computer. LinkedIn only accepts resumes in .doc, .docx., and .pdf formats.

How to Add Your Resume to Your LinkedIn Profile

  • On the top navigation bar, click “Jobs.”
  • That takes you to the Jobs screen. On the left navigation bar, click “Application settings.” 
  • On the “Job application settings” screen, click “Upload resume.”
  • Upload your resume, hit save, and you’re done!

The resume you upload through your profile must be less than 5MB. Anything larger will need to be compressed, or you can create a clean document that doesn’t contain anything that was copied and pasted.

On your Job application settings, two toggle bars are on by default, “Save and manage your resumes and answers,” and “Save self-ID information.”

The first selection allows LinkedIn to prefill your answers to employer questions (like how many years of experience you have). Even if you leave the option on, you can adjust your answers each time you apply to a job through LinkedIn. The second option saves self-reported demographic information (race, gender, etc.). 

LinkedIn lets you upload and save four resumes. This gives you the ability to have resumes tailored to different industries and roles. The resumes remain saved to your profile until you delete them.

Add Your Resume To LinkedIn When Applying for a Job

Some job postings have the “Easy Apply” button. This lets you apply for the role with one click, sharing your resume and LinkedIn profile with the job poster.

When you apply, you’ll fill in some information (name, contact information, employer questions). Then you’ll reach the “Resume” section. You can use a resume that’s saved to your profile or upload a new one. However, if you add a new resume, it must be less than 2MB.

GUILTY: Pitipong Daengbunga sentenced to life in prison for 2022 murder

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Pitipong Daengbunga was sentenced Thursday afternoon for the 2022 murder of Jamie Boggs.

Daengbunga was on trial for first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Judge Randi Mueller sentenced Daengbunga to life in prison for the murder charge, and 10 years for the tampering with evidence charge.

The jury deliberated for only 35 minutes.

Pitipong Daengbunga’s murder trial continues after being accused of killing a woman in 2022

The prosecution summed up the case in closing arguments Thursday, saying Boggs was “massacred” inside the Rodenberg Avenue apartment she shared with Daengbunga in February 2022, adding that “he intended to kill Boggs and enjoyed it.”

The state told jurors to remember Daengbunga was previously charged with attempted murder of a woman in Jones County. The state showed jurors photos of both women, saying their injuries were “mirror images” of each other.

Daengbunga’s attorneys said he acted in self-defense the night Boggs died, pointing to a witness who testified she saw Boggs hitting Daengbunga during a fight three weeks before her death the morning of January 11, 2022.

That witness was former neighbor Pam McLemore, who is currently in jail in Texas. McLemore testified via Zoom.

McLemore described the altercation, saying she saw Boggs hitting and throwing things at Daengbunga. She told the jury she was afraid for both of them that day.

McLemore called 911, and Biloxi Police officers responded to the apartment.

A police dispatcher who was on duty that day testified. Jurors listened to the 911 call and heard Boggs yelling in the background.

In rebuttal, the prosecution called up the Biloxi Police officer who responded to McLemore’s 911 call.

The officer testified that when he arrived, Daengbunga was alone and uninjured, saying he did not need any assistance.

McLemore testified that Daengbunga never had many visitors until Boggs moved in; then, she saw men coming and going from the apartment.

According to the neighbor, Daengbunga wanted Boggs to move out, but she wouldn’t leave.

On the night of her death, Daengbunga’s lawyers said there was “frenzied chaos” inside the apartment and that Daengbunga retaliated with what was there.

Boggs was beaten, stabbed and strangled to death.

The jury began deliberating just before 3:30 p.m. and made a decision just after 4 p.m.

Drug Combo JAKs Up Immunotherapy in Two Clinical Trials

JAK proteins (blue)—the targets of JAK inhibitors—are like puppet masters, pulling the strings that control numerous cellular functions, including inflammation and immune cell activity. 

Two separate clinical trials have found that a class of drugs that stymie inflammation may improve the effectiveness of commonly used immunotherapies. In both trials—one involving people with lung cancer and the other with lymphoma—adding a JAK inhibitor to an immune checkpoint inhibitor shrank tumors in more than half of the participants. 

Typically, immune checkpoint inhibitors, which are standard treatments for dozens of cancer types, only work for 15% to 60% of people who take them . But when these treatments do work, they can have astonishing effects, melting metastatic tumors and keeping them away for years . 

Over the past decade, scientists have been searching up and down for ways to make these drugs work for more patients. In the new studies, researchers explored a possible role for JAK inhibitors, which dampen chronic inflammation and are used to treat inflammatory and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis . 

The results are impressive for a few reasons, experts said. In the lung cancer trial , the combination shrank the tumors of substantially more participants than is typically seen with an immune checkpoint inhibitor alone. And in the lymphoma trial , all the participants had already been treated with an immune checkpoint inhibitor that had stopped working. Both studies were published June 21 in Science .

The studies also uncovered why JAK inhibitors and immune checkpoint inhibitors appear to work well together. Immune checkpoint inhibitors unleash the activity of cancer-killing immune cells called T cells . And JAK inhibitors, the studies showed, reinvigorate burnt-out T cells—setting the stage for immune checkpoint inhibitors to turbocharge them against tumors. 

Those findings highlight an important trend, according to Grégoire Altan-Bonnet, Ph.D., of NCI’s Laboratory of Integrative Cancer Immunology . “We are becoming more sophisticated in the ways we manipulate the immune response [to cancer],” said Dr. Altan-Bonnet, who wasn’t involved in either study. 

The two trials involved people with different types of cancer, treated with different JAK inhibitors and immune checkpoint inhibitors, and with different timing of each drug’s administration, pointed out Andy Minn, M.D., Ph.D., one of the leaders of the lung cancer study.

“And yet we both reached the same conclusion, which to me is just really remarkable and provides a lot of motivation and hope that we're on to something,” said Dr. Minn, of the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and director of the Mark Foundation Center for Immunotherapy, Immune Signaling, and Radiation. 

But there’s still a lot to learn about this combination approach, said the lymphoma study’s leader, John Teijaro, Ph.D., of Scripps Research Institute in California. “There’s still a long way to go in understanding how this works, what the best course is for patients, what the best JAK inhibitor is, when you should give it, and what dose you should give. They’re all open questions that need to be investigated,” he said.

Timing matters for tumor inflammation

JAK proteins—the targets of JAK inhibitors—are like puppet masters, pulling the strings that control numerous cellular functions, including inflammation and immune cell activity. And once immune checkpoint inhibitors came onto the scene, scientists quickly gathered loads of evidence that JAK proteins are also critical for these drugs to work . 

So until now, the thought was that blocking JAK proteins with JAK inhibitors would only make immune checkpoint inhibitors less effective.

Overcoming T Cell Exhaustion in Immunotherapy

Targeting proteins involved in T cell exhaustion may boost immunotherapy.

But Dr. Minn and Dr. Teijaro were finding the exact opposite could also be true. Dr. Minn’s group noticed that tumors in mice that grew back after immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment had high activity of JAK-regulated genes. And Dr. Teijaro’s team found that JAK inhibitors revived cancer-killing T cells. 

“We had a lot of data that was pointing in this paradoxical direction,” Dr. Minn said. The researchers landed on a new idea: What if timing matters when it comes to JAK proteins and immune checkpoint inhibitors? 

“And it turned out, we think that's the case,” Dr. Minn said. 

They suspect that an initial, short burst of JAK-led inflammation activates T cells, setting the stage for immune checkpoint inhibitors to unleash the T cells against tumors. But if JAK proteins keep signaling on an endless loop, chronic inflammation sets in and cancer-killing T cells get burnt out—often called T cell exhaustion . And treating chronically inflamed tumors with immune checkpoint inhibitors is like pushing the “on” button of a toy with dead batteries. 

So, both groups set out to see if JAK inhibitors could cool the flames of chronic inflammation while preserving that first spark needed for immune checkpoint inhibitors to work.

Rescuing immune checkpoint inhibitors

Both sets of researchers started by testing the combination strategy in mice implanted with various kinds of cancer. Combining a JAK inhibitor with an immune checkpoint inhibitor slowed tumor growth substantially more than either drug alone, both teams found. 

Buoyed by their findings, Dr. Minn and his colleagues launched a clinical trial involving 21 people with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer. All patients received the immune checkpoint inhibitor pembrolizumab (Keytruda) plus the JAK inhibitor itacitinib .  

The treatment partially or completely shrank the tumors of 14 of the 21 participants (67%). And it kept their tumors at bay for a median of more than 2 years. In other clinical trials, by contrast, tumors have been found to shrink in less than half of people with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer who get pembrolizumab as an initial treatment. And among those whose tumors do shrink, the treatment typically stops tumor growth for only a few months. 

Dr. Teijaro and his colleagues connected with researchers at the University of Minnesota who were testing the JAK inhibitor ruxolitinib (Jakafi) and the immune checkpoint inhibitor nivolumab (Opdivo) in a clinical trial of 19 people with Hodgkin lymphoma. All participants had previously received an immune checkpoint inhibitor that hadn’t worked for them or had worked only marginally. 

When immune checkpoint inhibitors fail for people with Hodgkin lymphoma, there are few treatment options left, Dr. Teijaro pointed out. “Their [cancer is] resistant to most [drugs] by that time. This is a really tough patient population to treat,” he said.

But when nivolumab was reintroduced with ruxolitinib, tumors shrank in 10 people (53%), including six patients whose tumors disappeared completely. Two years after the start of the trial, 46% of participants had no sign of their cancer growing back ( disease progression ). In contrast, 2-year progression-free survival was 23% in a small clinical trial of people with lymphoma who received nivolumab and another drug after nivolumab alone stopped working.

Side effects were infrequent in the two trials, and none of the patients in the lymphoma trial had to stop the treatment due to side effects, said another member of the Scripps team, Jaroslav Zak, Ph.D. 

“Even anemia, which is quite common with ruxolitinib—most of these patients didn’t get anemia or any [blood cell – related] side effects that were sufficiently severe that they had to go off the therapy,” he added.  

Rousing T cells and myeloid cells

When the researchers dug deeper, both groups saw that the combination treatment substantially altered the numbers and activities of various immune cells in both patients and mice.

Manipulating an Immune Cell May Make Radiation More Effective

Boosting levels of a protein called BAMBI in MDSC immune cells helped make tumors less resistant to radiation therapy.

As hoped, they saw that the treatments raised numbers of invigorated T cells for many patients. But additional data suggested that there’s a limit to what JAK inhibitors can do if a patient’s T cells are completely exhausted, noted Dr. Altan-Bonnet, which may be why the combination didn’t work for everyone.

JAK inhibitors also appear to do more than help exhausted T cells, Dr. Zak said. In the lymphoma trial, the treatment produced “an even more dramatic change in myeloid cells,” especially in people whose tumors completely disappeared, he said. 

Myeloid cells are immune cells that can either restrain T cells or help them grow. The JAK inhibitor tipped the scales, pushing myeloid cells to be more helpful than harmful, he explained. 

These results raise “hopes for myeloid [cell] modulation in the context of cancer therapy,” Dr. Zak said. “We have done really well with modulating T cells with checkpoint inhibitors, CAR T-cell therapy, and adoptive T-cell therapy. But I think we are far behind with myeloid cell modulation, and yet we know how important those cells are” to the success of immunotherapy, he said.

These findings about specific immune cells could eventually help researchers learn more about the best dose and timing of immunotherapies, wrote Massimo Gadina, Ph.D., and John O’Shea, M.D., of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, in a commentary on the studies .

The blind cavefish is silvery and has no eyes

Blind cavefish have extraordinary taste buds

Cavefish increase the number and location of taste buds — to the head and chin, say uc biologists.

Over thousands of years, cavefish evolved and lost their vision, earning the moniker “the blind cavefish,” but some cavefish also developed an inordinate number of taste buds on the head and chin. 

In a new study, now published in the Nature journal Communications Biology , scientists at the University of Cincinnati have determined when the taste buds start to appear in areas beyond the oral cavity. The study was supported by the National Science Foundation. 

To begin, blind cavefish evolved in cave ponds in northeastern Mexico. They are pale pink and nearly translucent compared to their silvery counterparts that live in surface rivers and streams. While cavefish have the faintest outline of eye sockets, the surface fish have enormous round eyes that give them a perpetually surprised expression.

Despite the many obvious physical differences, the two fish are considered the same species.

“Regression, such as the loss of eyesight and pigmentation, is a well-studied phenomenon, but the biological bases of constructive features are less well understood,” says the article’s senior author  UC professor and biologist Joshua Gross , whose laboratory is dedicated to the study of evolution and development of cave-dwelling vertebrates.

“Knowing just how many doors this opened for future research involving taste bud and taste development was a truly rewarding aspect of this research; especially considering how long these fish live,” says co-author Daniel Berning who earned his master’s degree in biology at UC in 2022, while working on the study in Dr. Gross’ lab.

Cavefish have a keener sense of taste.

Although scientists in the 1960s discovered that certain populations of blind cavefish had extra taste buds — on the head and chin — there was no further study of the developmental or genetic processes that explain this unusual trait, says Gross.

To determine when the extra taste buds appear, Gross and his research team looked at the species Astyanax mexicanus, including two separate cavefish populations that dwell in the Pachón and Tinaja caves in northwestern Mexico, known to have the additional taste buds. 

The research team found that the number of taste buds is similar to the surface fish from birth through 5 months of age. The taste buds then start to increase in number and appear on the head and chin in smatterings, well into adulthood, at approximately 18 months.

Cavefish can live much longer than 18 months in nature and captivity, and the authors suspect even more taste buds continually accumulate as the fish get older.

The increase correlates with the time that the cavefish stop eating other live foods for sustenance and start to pursue other food sources, Gross says, such as bat guano. Equally fascinating, he says, is that the expansion may occur in other cave locations where there are no bat populations.   

With more taste buds, he says, the cavefish have a keener sense of taste, “which is likely an adaptive trait.”   

“It remains unclear what is the precise functional and adaptive relevance of this augmented taste system,” says Gross, which has led the team to begin new studies that focus on taste, by exposing the fish to different flavors such as sour, sweet and bitter.

Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate on Tuesday.

The Minnesota governor was selected by Harris to join the ticket over a short list of other contenders, including Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro , Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly , Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg .

Walz was born April 6, 1964 in West Point, Nebraska. The 60-year-old Minnesota governor grew up in Nebraska, graduating from Butte High School in 1982.

After high school, Walz enlisted in the Army National Guard, according to his Minnesota Governor bio.

He graduated with a bachelor of science in social science education from Chadron State College in 1989. He spent a year teaching abroad before he returned to the U.S. to serve full time in the National Guard, and worked as a high school social studies teacher and football coach.

He graduated with a Master of Science in educational leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2001.

1994: Tim and Gwen Walz marry

Walz married his wife, Gwen , in 1994. The couple has two children, Hope and Gus. The family lived in Mankato, Minnesota for nearly 20 years before moving to Saint Paul when he was elected governor.

Gwen Walz, whose maiden name is Whipple, was born in Glencoe, Minnesota and grew up in western Minnesota, according to her Minnesota First Lady website.
