The primary objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between different leadership styles and employee commitment in public organizations of Ethiopia with special reference to Dire Dawa Administration. For this study the researchers have applied stratified proportionate random sampling technique in which 597 sample respondents from 15 different public organizations of DDA are taken as sample size. Primary data collection method is used to collect information from the selected sample respondents comprising of leaders and employees from the administration by using Multi-factor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) and Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ). Descriptive statistics, two-tailed Pearson correlation analysis and independent sample T-test at 95% CL are used for data analysis. This study points out there are significant differences between the two samples on all dimensions of leadership except management by exception (active) and overall transactional leadership scale. Transformational leadership style is more effective than transactional leadership in affecting all subscales of employees' organizational commitment. However, laissez-faire leadership has a negative correlation with employees' affective commitment. But it does not have any significant correlation to both continuance and normative commitments. Hence, it is recommended that the leaders of DDA public organizations should focus more on developing efficient team work and express warm concern and trust to co-workers through transformational leadership behavior.

The study examines the link between leadership styles and employee performance in the public sector organizations with respect to organizational commitment. A total of 330 respondents were selected from ten public sector organizations in Ghana. A PLS-SEM analysis was conducted and was found that organizational commitment partially mediates the relationship between both transformational and transactional leadership styles and employee performance. The study concludes that organizational success largely depends on the commitment level of employees which helps reduce labor turnover. Theoretically, the study findings reveal that leadership is the main element of employee performance through the commitment of employees. Therefore, the effectiveness of these leadership styles in encouraging employee performance are dependent on organizational commitment.

This study examined the relationship between leadership-behaviour and organizational factors as predictors of workers organizational commitment. Ex-Post-Factor research design was employed. A total number of 504 workers selected from private and public sector organizations located in Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria participated in the study. The study was anchored on Graen and Scandura Leader-member exchange theory. It was hypothesized that job tenure, management cadre and organizational type will significantly predict workers' organizational commitment. Also, workers who perceived their bosses to be high on interpersonal relations and emancipatory leadership behaviour will identify more with their organization, demonstrate high loyalty and show high commitment to their organizations. Results revealed a positive progression in the influence of organizational factor on organizational commitment variables. Specifically, junior workers reported more commitment compared to senior management level workers for at least 1.03 times. Interpersonal relations contributed about 19.9% of the total variance of the observed job indentification and 28.8% to workers' job loyalty, and 19.3% to organizational commitmen respectivelyt. Emancipatory leadership-behaviour contributed 17.2% and10.2% to loyalty and organizational commitment. Autocratic/control contributed 19.3% to the observed variance in job involvement. Meanwhile, autocratic/control leadership-behavior accounted for about 15.4% of workers' disloyalty to their organizations. Findings in the study were discussed in the light of emergent literatures on leadership and organizational research.

The study was about the role of leadership style on organizational commitment. The study has two objectives; to find out the impact of transformational leadership on organizational commitment in Mogadishu, Somalia, to investigate the impact of transactional leadership on organizational commitment in Mogadishu, Somalia. The study was explanatory. The purpose of explanatory study was to explain the relationship between the two variables. Questionnaire was used to collect data from sample of 95 respondents. The data was analyzed using SPSS version. 20. Leadership could support organizational commitment using transformation and transaction styles, the first dimension of independent variable which transformation style has positive relationship with organizational commitment, the second dimension of which transaction style has positive relationship with organizational commitment. In reference with the result and findings it is revealed that employee commitment has positive relationship with the two dimensions of independent variable. The findings of this study, it makes an important contribution to our understanding of leadership style on organizational commitment. It is hoped that the results will stimulate further investigation into other equally important aspects affecting leadership style. This study was restricted to one construct of work related behaviors-leadership style on organizational commitment. Hence further research in the area could extend to cover other constructs which also relate to organizational commitment.

The influence of leadership style on employee commitment for the organisation has not been adequately addressed in the Parastatal companies in South Africa.
