Create a strong pizza delivery driver resume by featuring your most compelling qualifications and experience. For example, if you know the area well, you can reduce delivery times. If you have a clean driving record, it bodes well for reduced employer risks.
This guide covers everything you need to know to write a winning pizza delivery driver resume. That includes information on covering your work history and education and tips on using action verbs and choosing the right template.
1. Summarize your pizza delivery driver qualifications in a dynamic profile
The professional profile is a metaphorical handshake, creating a first impression with a potential employer. Start with an opening sentence that lists your title, years of experience, and three to four skills that match the job description.
For example, one of the first things companies look for when evaluating candidates for driver positions is whether or not they have a safe driving record. Emphasizing your compliance with traffic laws and safety directly in your summary will show hiring managers they can trust you to manage company vehicles during high-volume business hours.
Profile Example #1
Profile example #2, 2. outline your pizza delivery driver experience in a compelling list.
Incorporating numbers into your resume is a powerful way to grab the hiring manager’s attention during the application process. Although it may seem difficult to quantify achievements as a delivery driver, there are ways to use numbers to your advantage. For example, you might feature customer satisfaction ratings, on-time delivery rates, and the volume of orders you were managing on a daily basis.
Companies also value drivers who excel in route planning and navigation. If a restaurant has low on-time delivery ratings, this can have a serious negative impact on the business’s bottom line. Demonstrate that you can plan optimal routes for your deliveries.

3. Include pizza delivery driver-related education and certifications
Including education details on your resume can help employers see you as a mature candidate willing to put in work to achieve goals. Even listing your high school diploma can help employers take you more seriously. Potential pizza delivery drivers may also want to include certifications or courses related to delivery driving, food service, or other relevant niches.
You don’t need to detail your extracurriculars or provide your GPA. Keep your education section short and simple. If you do have relevant skills and experience from school-related activities, consider adding them to your experience section or including them in your cover letter.

- High School Diploma
- Cave Spring High, Roanoke, VA | 2022

4. List your pizza delivery driver-related skills and proficiencies
Listing key skills — and including them naturally throughout your resume — can demonstrate to an employer why you’re a great candidate for a position. Think above and beyond the major task of delivering pizzas — but definitely include information that indicates you’re a skilled and safe driver.
Pizza delivery drivers who have food-prep and handling experience or are skilled in managing cash or providing customer service may be valuable additions to an organization. Consider some of the key skills below relevant to pizza delivery driver resumes and whether you can include them on your resume.

How To Pick the Best Pizza Delivery Driver Resume Template
Working from a template helps you create a professional-looking resume and ensures you don’t forget critical sections. Choose a template that is easy to work with, such as one you can customize in a user-friendly word-processing program like Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
Most pizza delivery drivers should opt for a one-page resume template without any design flourishes. Keep everything streamlined and scannable — your resume may be perused by hiring managers in or near busy kitchens and dining rooms. Anything you can do to make your document easier to read will likely be a point in your favor.

What Matters Most: Your Skills & Job History
Your resume skills section gives recruiters a snapshot of what you’re able to do—so make sure each skill you list ties directly in with your role as a pizza delivery driver. Even if your previous jobs seemed unrelated, you’re bound to find some skills that overlap.
Even if your skills do overlap, try and spin them in a job-specific way: Generic “everyjob” abilities like communication and customer service can be tailored to your profession. How about “Food Orders” and “Cheerful Delivery” instead?
To give recruiters an even better idea of how well you’ll perform as a pizza delivery driver, make individual skills more specific, too. Instead of just “attention to detail,” specify that you catch or prevent errors between baking and delivering!

Sample pizza delivery driver work experience bullet points
Now that you’ve laid your skills out on the table, recruiters want to read about how you’ve used them to create success! How did you use your customer service knowledge to help increase customer satisfaction? Did your detail-oriented mindset help you reduce pizza order errors?
Experiences from unrelated jobs can tie in well, too! If you’ve been really good about staying on schedule as a CDL truck driver, you can use that experience to reinforce your capabilities as an efficient delivery driver.
Just make sure you bring in some quantifiable data to back up those examples! Metrics are necessary for a successful point. Recruiters need to see numbers, percentages, and ratings.
Here are some tasty samples:
- Delivered pizzas to 67+ customers per day, exceeding expectations by 9%
- Presented a clean, neat, and professional appearance in person with delivery vehicles to ensure positive brand promotion, earning a personal rating of 89% and boosting brand ratings to 4.7/5.0 stars
- Delivered each order on time, offering professional customer service, increasing customer satisfaction by 32%
- Provided excellent customer service during order deliveries and transactions, securing a 97% customer satisfaction rate
- Executed cash and credit transactions with attention to detail, matching totals and recorded receipts with 99% accuracy
Top 5 Tips for Your Pizza Delivery Driver Resume
- Just like each pizza that enters your vehicle, you want to deliver important info as quickly as possible! Recruiters only have a few seconds on average to spend on their initial resume speed-read, so showcase your best points ASAP within your layout. You can go a step above by generating a cover letter to hook the hiring manager on why you want this job .
- If you have any other certs that boost your credibility as a delivery driver, like that CDL or an OSHA Safety Certificate, don’t keep quiet about them! Include them alongside your other qualifications and education.
- If you’ve worked other jobs in the food industry, such as kitchen or table waiting roles, these can be related to pizza delivery. Just about anything that happened specifically in a pizzeria can be spun to your advantage since it gives you familiarity with the environment—even register or dishwashing!
- You’ll perform plenty of tasks that you might not expect while delivering pizzas—maybe the customer mistakenly gave you the wrong address, or had less money on hand than they thought. Include examples of how you’ve handled curve balls to show your devotion to customer satisfaction.
- This might seem like a random detail, but share experience points featuring deliveries of all sizes, from single-pizza home deliveries to full-blown events. You’ll show that you can safely transport large quantities of food while treating each valuable customer with equal care and attentiveness.
You generally only need a high school diploma to work a pizza delivery driver job, but that doesn’t mean you can’t include extra stuff! If you’ve taken any independent classes or earned additional driving or food safety certificates, include them.
Even if you don’t have a license or certificate related to food safety, work it into your experience points. Mention that you accomplished all that you did while adhering to important state or restaurant regulations!
Revisit the job description and seek out opportunities to align yourself with the company culture where you’re applying. Look for buzzwords like “fast service,” “professional image,” or “food safety” that you can echo in your resume.

The dedication and responsibility you show in a pizza delivery driver role will reflect on how you would perform in any other role. Make sure your resume shows you’ve given the job your best and proven yourself as someone reliable and trustworthy.
Absolutely! Although the driver isn’t involved in food preparation, it’s still his job to make sure food arrives to the customer safely and in good condition. That means not crushed or exposed to unsanitary conditions. Hot food should be hot, cold food should be cold. In multiple areas of his work history on the pizza delivery driver resume sample, our candidate discusses quality control and food safety and also points out inspecting food for quality both before and after packaging for delivery.
When customers order pizza for delivery, often their only interaction with a human being from that pizza company is the delivery driver. For that customer, the delivery driver is the company and should represent them with a positive demeanor and excellent customer service attitude. The sample resume makes it clear the example candidate takes this very seriously and recognizes his role as the customer’s only point of human contact when it comes to dealing with that pizza restaurant. Make sure your resume as a delivery driver shows awareness of this, and demonstrates your commitment to an excellent customer experience.

When creating a resume for a job in 2024, there are a few key elements to consider in terms of length, design, and format. Length: Keep your resume concise and focused. Aim for a maximum of one to two pages. Tailor your content to highlight your most relevant skills and experiences. Design: Choose a clean and professional design for your resume. Avoid using overly creative or fancy fonts, as they may be difficult to read by applicant tracking systems (ATS) used by many companies. Format: Opt for a reverse-chronological format, where your most recent experience is listed first. This format is widely preferred by hiring managers as it allows them to quickly assess your career progression. While the specific sections you include may vary depending on the job, here are some popular sections that can make your resume stand out: Summary/Objective: Provide a brief overview of your skills and career goals. This section can help recruiters quickly understand your qualifications. Experience: Highlight your relevant work experience using the Context-Action-Result (CAR) framework. Describe the situation or challenge you faced, the actions you took, and the results you achieved. Skills: List the specific skills that are relevant to the job, such as technical skills, industry-specific knowledge, and soft skills. Achievements: Showcase any awards, accolades, or notable accomplishments that demonstrate your expertise and contributions. Remember, while these sections are popular, it's important to tailor your resume to the specific job you're applying for. Customize the sections and emphasize the most relevant information that aligns with the job requirements. The Context-Action-Result (CAR) framework is an effective way to showcase your experience in a compelling manner. Here are some examples of bullet points using this framework: Context: Managed a team of 15 sales representatives in a fast-paced retail environment. Action: Developed and implemented sales training programs, resulting in a 20% increase in monthly revenue. Result: Led the team to exceed sales targets by 15% for three consecutive quarters. 4. List your pizza delivery driver experience
The most important part of any resume for a pizza delivery driver is the experience section. Recruiters and hiring managers expect to see your experience listed in reverse chronological order, meaning that you should begin with your most recent experience and then work backwards.
Don't just list your job duties below each job entry. Instead, make sure most of your bullet points discuss impressive achievements from your past positions. Whenever you can, use numbers to contextualize your accomplishments for the hiring manager reading your resume.
It's okay if you can't include exact percentages or dollar figures. There's a big difference even between saying "Managed a team of pizza delivery drivers" and "Managed a team of 6 pizza delivery drivers over a 9-month project. "
Most importantly, make sure that the experience you include is relevant to the job you're applying for. Use the job description to ensure that each bullet point on your resume is appropriate and helpful.

If you have any of these certifications, make sure to put them on your pizza delivery driver resume:
- Commercial Driver License (CDL)

A resume summary statement consists of 1-3 sentences at the top of your pizza delivery driver resume that quickly summarizes who you are and what you have to offer. How to format a delivery driver resume
Selecting the ideal resume format is essential for setting your application apart from the competition. Here are three main formats you can choose from for a delivery driver resume:
- Reverse chronological resume : Best for those with solid experience in delivery driving, this format lists your previous jobs from the most recent to the earliest.
- Functional resume : It's suitable if you're new to delivery driving, switching careers, just starting out, or have gaps in your work history. It focuses more on your skills than your past jobs.
- Hybrid resume : Combining the strengths of both chronological and functional formats, the hybrid resume allows you to show your most relevant skills and achievements at the top, followed by a brief history of your work. This is particularly effective for demonstrating experiences that match the delivery driver job you want.
To make your resume catch a recruiter’s eye, consider these tips:
- Choose a visually appealing resume template , such as a two-column design, which can contain a lot of information yet remains quick to scan.
- Select easy-to-read fonts like Rubik, Lato, or Times New Roman, and keep the font size between 10 and 12 points for optimal legibility.
- Check the job listing to see if adding a photo to your resume is necessary. In the US, it’s usually best to omit a photo unless it's specifically requested.
- Use uniform margins around 1 inch to give your resume a clean and organized appearance.
- Start with a header that includes your name, job title, contact information, and possibly a LinkedIn profile link .
- Always save your delivery driver resume as a PDF file to keep its formatting consistent across all devices.
When making your delivery driver resume, think about its length. Use one page to keep it simple, or two pages if you have a lot of experience.
It's important to use a plain format for your delivery driver resume because Applicant Tracking Systems can miss details in resumes with fancy layouts or creative titles.
Also, try our intuitive AI resume checker . It evaluates your resume on 16 essential points for free, helping you make it more appealing to recruiters.

To present your skills as a delivery driver, you need to know how to describe your work experience clearly. We'll cover more on this topic in the next section.
Your resume should mainly talk about how you’ve applied your skills in real situations, proving you can handle what delivery driving throws at you. Start with your most recent job and work backward, including your job title, the place you worked, and how long you were there. Don't forget to list your responsibilities and achievements in bullet points, leading off with strong action verbs . We’ll give you some tips on what to highlight and what to drop from your resume .
Let's first show what is the wrong way to present your work experience.

- Objective statement: Craft a concise statement that expresses your excitement for delivery driving, related experiences if you have any, and your career goals. Aim for 3-4 sentences.
- Transferable skills : Even if you've never been a delivery driver, you may have relevant skills from other jobs or even school or college. Highlight abilities like teamwork, navigational skills, and making quick decisions under pressure. Provide examples if possible.
- Experience section: Feature any work, even volunteering or internships, especially if they involve teamwork or delivery tasks. They may not have been paid roles, but they definitely show your dedication and abilities.
Above all, tailor your resume for the delivery driver position you're targeting. Customize it to match the specific requirements and duties of the job. Include relevant keywords from the job description to make your resume stand out.
Always get paid first! Don't hand over the food until you've got the payment. It'll save you from that nasty moment when the door slams shut and you're left without your money.
Adding a skills section to your resume is a smart way to show what you can do, whether you're new to delivery driving or have been doing it for a while. List hard skills like using GPS, planning quick routes, and basic car maintenance. Also, include soft skills such as being reliable, detail-oriented, and a good communicator. Now that we've got the skills sorted, let's move on with the education and certifications needed.
Most delivery driving jobs ask for no more than a high school diploma, but if you’ve picked up additional certificates, or diplomas, or have gone through more training—list those as well.
Don't overlook the education section on your resume . Make sure to include the name of your high school, the years you attended, and its location. It's also crucial to highlight any significant achievements from your time in school. If you have higher education or are working towards a degree , make sure that's on there too.

Including your driving license could be what draws a recruiter to your application. If you hold a Class A, Class B, or Class C CDL (Commercial Driver's License), you're already ahead of the game.
Any certifications related to driving can enhance your resume profile and show employers your initiative in expanding your skill set beyond traditional education. Here, we recommend 5 certifications that are valuable for delivery driver roles.
Best certifications for your delivery driver resume
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Defensive Driving Course Certification ]
- DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
- OSHA Safety Certificate
- Hazmat Endorsement
There are dozens of certifications that you can earn as a delivery driver. But, some are more effective than others. That’s why you shouldn’t include certificates other applicants might have. Try instead to get a few of the more difficult ones.
When delivery companies and retail businesses start going through piles of resumes, a sharp summary or objective on yours can really help it pop. Highlight your delivery skills and your knack for reliable service to catch their eye. Both a resume summary and an objective are there to grab the recruiter’s attention quickly and show that your skills and experiences are just what they're looking for.
So, what’s the difference between the two?
- Objective statement : Keep it short, about 3 sentences, focusing on your career goals and why you're interested in this job. It's perfect if you’re just starting out, thinking about a career shift, or coming back after a break.
- Summary: This should be a quick snapshot of your biggest professional wins and relevant experience, about 3 to 5 sentences long. It works best if you’ve got solid experience in the field.
Want to see what they look like in action? Take a look at the examples below:
The summary introduces a driver with over ten years of experience but lacks specific examples and vibrant language that would make it compelling. It mentions general skills in delivery operations without detailing any standout achievements or moments that highlight the driver's capabilities. To truly capture the interest of a potential employer like FedEx, the summary needs more detailed examples and a more energetic tone to reflect the driver’s dedication and fit for the role.
You can see the difference, can’t you? Let’s break down 3 reasons why it’s a better example:
- Relevant experience: With 10 years as a delivery driver, managing over 500 routes each year with a 99% on-time delivery rate, the summary effectively shows the candidate as a seasoned expert. This experience directly relates to the demands of a high-paced delivery role.
- Quantified achievements: The candidate doesn’t just state their experience. They quantify it, emphasizing their success in maintaining an impressive on-time delivery rate and their capability to handle a large volume of routes.
- Strong intent: The summary states the candidate’s desire to transition their extensive delivery driving experience into a specific role at FedEx. This demonstrates a targeted career direction and a strong commitment to contributing to the company.
In case you're new to the delivery driving field and seeking your first position without prior experience, here's an approach to consider.
Make your delivery driver's resume more personal. Add additional sections that show off your personality, so employers can see what makes you different.
