Children’s Day Speech for Teachers 1 (400 Words, 4 Minute Speech)

Good morning everyone! Respected principal sir, Director Sir, teachers, and my dear students. As we all know, we are all here to celebrate the occasion of Children’s Day. I’d like to thank everyone for giving me the chance to speak in front of you all on this fun day.

So dear children, do you know why we celebrate children’s day? This day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who was the first prime minister of India. During his leadership, he focused on the education and rights of children. He believed that children are the future of the country and that it is important to take care of them. They are our society’s most priceless asset.

On Children’s Day, people in India should be reminded of how important it is to protect the rights and privileges of children. This day is not like any other celebration. It is a day to show children their worth and how important they are in building a strong nation. Childhood is the best time of life, and every child should have a healthy and happy childhood so they can be ready to lead their country in the future. We teachers and parents are a medium who will only assist you. It’s your turn to spread your wings and fly high to reach your goals.

We scold you and sometimes punish you but we all do this to make you strong. No one will be happier than teachers in the success of their students. We’re proud of what you’ve done in school and outside of school over the years. We will always try to get you to move in the right direction so that you can be successful. I would like to say that failures will always make you stronger, and you should try to turn your weaknesses into strengths. We all want you to follow Pandit Nehru’s ideas, which will help you grow as people and inspire you to become a great leader like him. I request all the children to study hard and make us feel proud.

So, on this auspicious day, I again wish all the children of our school a very happy children’s day. Thank you for listening to me carefully. You can all now enjoy your day as different things have been set up for you all.

Children’s Day Speech for Teachers 2 (500 Words, 5 Minute Speech)

Good morning everyone and Happy Children’s Day to all of my wonderful students! As the Principal of this school, I want to thank you all for coming to this happy event.

14 November or Children’s day is important for all humans. When celebrating children’s day how could we forget Jawaharlal Nehru? The morals and values that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru taught will help us to follow in his footsteps and be as successful as he was. He was India’s first prime minister who served for more than 16 years, and his goal was to make the country a world leader. We celebrate this day to honor the love of Jawaharlal Nehru toward children. He always liked children very much and loved them, that’s why; he was called “Chacha Nehru” by the children.

He was son of Motilal Nehru and Swarup Rani Nehru. Nehru Ji believed that our country’s well-being and progress depend on young minds. He believed that children could come up with new ideas that would be beneficial for our nation. He cared a lot about the health and well-being of the children in India. He worked hard for them so they could get what they deserved, like education and good health care. He started a lot of organizations to support education for children. He fed kids who had nothing to eat for free. He said that children are like flower buds. They are incredible gifts from God. They have pure hearts and everyone loves them.

Childhood is a special time, and you should all try to enjoy it to the fullest. But also this is the critical stage that decides your future. This occasion of children’s day reminds me of my childhood. When I was a kid, we also used to celebrate children’s day in our school. I was a naughty kid like some of you. My class teacher always used to ask me all the questions. Sometimes I used to get angry with him that why he always ask questions to me. But for answering him, I used to study a night before class. This helped me in exams and I got the highest marks in the class. Then I got my answer. A teacher will always try to prepare you for hardships. He will give his knowledge to you so that you do your best in exams as well as in life. I think every teacher loves their students because it is students who make us want to come to school and teach them every day. We feel proud when our students do good achievements in life.

In the end, I would like to say a famous quote by Jawaharlal Nehru to all the children over here. “Time is not measured by the passing of years but by what one does, what one feels, and what one achieves.” Dear kids, don’t stop, just keep working hard, success will definitely wait for you.

Now I would like to end my speech and once again happy children’s day to all. Enjoy your day.

Why We Celebrate Children’s Day?

From 1964 to till day we celebrate 14 th November as Children’s Day in the whole country. Let me tell you how it started.

The birthday of our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, which falls on 14 November, was chosen as the ideal day to celebrate Children’s Day. The decision was made to honor Nehru’s love for children and his commitment to their welfare. Nehru believed that children were the future of the country and they should be provided with a nurturing environment to grow, learn and flourish. Thus, Children’s Day became a way to celebrate Nehru’s legacy and promote the well-being of every child in the country.

Jawaharlal Nehru, fondly known as Chacha Nehru, was not only a visionary leader but also deeply connected with children. His love for children was evident in his interactions with them, where he was often seen playing, laughing, and engaging in conversation. Recognizing the importance of nurturing India’s young minds, Nehru was instrumental in establishing Children’s Day.

Significance of Children’s Day in promoting child rights and Well-being

Children’s Day holds immense significance in promoting child rights and well-being in India. It serves as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of providing every child with equal opportunities and a safe environment to grow. This day highlights the need for policies and programs that prioritize the rights of children, including access to education, healthcare, and protection from exploitation and abuse.

Furthermore, Children’s Day serves as a reminder to parents, educators, and society as a whole to recognize and respect the unique abilities and talents of children. It encourages us to create a nurturing environment where children can freely express themselves, explore their interests, and pursue their dreams. By promoting child rights and well-being, Children’s Day plays a crucial role in shaping a better future for our nation.

Unique Ways Children’s Day is celebrated across India

Children’s Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy across India. The day is filled with various activities, events, and programs that cater to the interests and needs of children. From schools to community centers, every place becomes a hub of celebration and excitement.

In schools, children often dress up in colorful attire and participate in cultural programs, including dance performances, skits, and music recitals. Teachers and staff organize special assemblies and events to honor the students and recognize their achievements. It is also common for schools to organize sports competitions, art exhibitions, and science fairs, providing children with a platform to showcase their talents.

In addition to school celebrations, many communities and organizations host events that engage children in fun and educational activities. These can include storytelling sessions, painting competitions, and workshops on various subjects. The aim is to create an inclusive and enjoyable atmosphere where children can learn, interact, and make lasting memories.

Children’s Day campaigns and initiatives by NGOs and government organizations

Numerous NGOs and government organizations in India actively work towards promoting child rights and well-being, and Children’s Day serves as a catalyst for their campaigns and initiatives. These organizations use this day to raise awareness about various issues affecting children and advocate for change at both the grassroots and policy levels.

Campaigns may focus on child education, child labor eradication , child health, or child protection. They aim to engage the public, policymakers, and stakeholders to address the challenges faced by children and create an environment that nurtures their growth and development.

Government organizations, such as the Ministry of Women and Child Development, play a crucial role in implementing policies and programs that safeguard the rights and well-being of children. They collaborate with NGOs, educational institutions, and healthcare providers to ensure that children’s needs are met and their voices are heard.

Challenges and issues related to Children’s Rights in India

While Children’s Day celebrates the progress made in promoting children’s rights in India, it also sheds light on the challenges that persist. Despite efforts to improve access to education, healthcare, and protection, many children in India continue to face barriers and injustices.

Child labor remains a significant concern, According to data from Census 2011, the number of child laborers in India is 10.1 million of which 5.6 million are boys and 4.5 million are girls.

Poverty, lack of awareness, and limited enforcement of labor laws contribute to this issue. Children living in marginalized communities, including those from tribal and rural areas, are particularly vulnerable to exploitation.

Education is another area that demands attention. Although efforts have been made to increase enrollment rates, quality education remains a challenge in many parts of the country. Limited infrastructure, inadequate resources, and a lack of trained teachers hinder the educational progress of children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

In addition, survey data shows that dropout rates have declined at all school levels in FY2012. For the primary level, the dropout rate declined by 1.5%, for the upper primary level by 3% and for the secondary level, the dropout rate declined by 12.6%.

Child marriage, child trafficking, and child abuse are additional issues that require urgent attention. These violations of children’s rights not only deprive them of their childhood but also have long-lasting physical, emotional, and psychological impacts.

Conclusion: Reflecting on the importance of Children’s Day and the continued need for child-centric policies

Children’s Day has had a significant impact on children’s empowerment and advocacy in India. By dedicating a day solely to celebrating and acknowledging children, society acknowledges their importance and value. This recognition boosts their self-esteem, encourages them to dream big, and instills in them a sense of belonging and purpose.

As we reflect on the captivating story of Children’s Day in India, it becomes clear that the day is not just another celebration, but a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility towards the well-being and future of our children. From its beginnings as a tribute to Chacha Nehru to its evolution into a day dedicated to all children, Children’s Day has come a long way.

Although progress has been made in promoting child rights and well-being, there are still challenges that remain to be overcome. Child labor, limited access to quality education, and various forms of exploitation continue. Therefore, it is essential to continue advocating for child-centered policies and programs that address these issues and create an enabling environment for each child’s development.

Children’s Day serves as a call to action for individuals, communities, NGOs, and government organizations to work together to protect and nurture the youngest citizens of our country. By investing in their education, health, and holistic development, we invest in a brighter future for India, where every child has the opportunity to fulfill their potential and contribute to society.

Children’s Day Speech for Teachers 1

Hon’ble Principal, Vice Principal, Beloved Teachers and My Dear Students – I thank you all for giving me this wonderful opportunity to deliver a speech on the very special occasion, which is Children’s Day.

We commemorate this day to pay tribute to Jawaharlal Nehru’s deep affection for children. He had a strong fondness for kids, which earned him the affectionate nickname ‘Chacha Nehru’ from them. Born to Motilal Nehru and Swarup Rani Nehru, Nehru Ji believed that the future and development of our nation rely on the youth.

“Chacha Nehru” as he was fondly called had a clear vision for the nation as he believed that the development of our country is possible when young people like you all will take responsibility and charge of various development activities of our Nation.

He deliberated that through enthusiasm and aspirations of children only will we be able to achieve the glory that Indian Society is worthy.

It’s not only our school which loves to celebrate Children’s day with fun activities and entertainment programs, but several other institutions too host exciting competitions for children. The day, cannot be complete without reflecting on the values and morals that Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru left behind for us so that you all could follow his footsteps and achieve great success in life with his estimable values. He belonged to a privileged family background but his outlook never reflected that kind of opulence and luxury. He could have easily received a renowned position in the British Administration due to his association with royal families but he left behind the materialistic life and decided to join the Indian National Movement with Mahatma Gandhi.

This story about Pundit Nehru’s life is hidden with certain effective morals which would give you an insight as to why one should not follow materialistic lifestyle as it survives for a certain period of time, rather simple living helps you attain a successful and preeminent career. Nehru Ji dedicated his entire life for the country and this is how every child present here should select a rightful path which will take our country to glory.

Far from cherishing children like you who are our country’s building blocks, the children of our nation are fighting with deep rooted problems which include poor state of basic education and healthcare. There are several children who work all day long in small workshops and could not even afford a square meal once in a day. On certain days and nights, they sleep empty stomach without meals, and we here crave for little things in life without even thinking about those kids. There could not be another day where I could convey these alarming situations to you.

Thus, once again I would like to wish you all a very Happy Children’s Day and lets us all celebrate this day with joy and appreciate the gift of childhood that has been bestowed upon us.

Therefore, I would request you all that whenever you receive an opportunity, help these children and fulfill Nehru Ji’s dreams for a better society and building an integrated nation.

Speech on Children’s Day for Teachers 2

Respected Principal, Vice Principal, Beloved Teachers and Dear students – Warm Greetings to everyone!

I Sumita Sharma, teacher of the Humanities section, take immense pleasure to deliver a speech on Children’s Day which is celebrated every year on 14 th November. Do you all know why is Children’s Day celebrated?

This auspicious occasion is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru who was the first Prime Minister of India. Jawaharlal Nehru was one of the most prominent personalities of India. He had a charming personality with charismatic leadership.

Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru was a very admirable statesman as well as a deserving politician. He was popular among children as Chacha Nehru. According to his belief, he considered children as the future of our country. He emphasized that children have innocent hearts and they win the hearts of everyone with their acquitted and angel smile. Children were considered as building blocks for our nation and he never discriminated between a girl and a boy. For him equality was a wining ideal for any nation.

This day is celebrated across the country with fun and frolic. Teachers together with other colleagues across schools arrange stage shows to entertain you all. Even we have arranged for sweets and fun filled activities like plays, tambola competition and ramp shows. We hope you would enjoy our performances.

We all want that you children should also follow Pundit Nehru’s ideals which will develop your personality and you could become a great leader like him in near future. He was a man of courage and words. Never give up ideology was his distinctive characteristic. He had to go to jail many times, though he did not get tired and continued his fight by suffering all the punishments.

Nehru’s administration helped the All India Institute of Medical Sciences which in today’s scenario is considered as one of biggest hospital. Indian Institute of Technology, and National Institute of Technology were also established and are deliberated to be greatest institutions of higher education. He was instrumental in establishing many other Indian institutions, and guarantee free and compulsory primary education to children of India. While serving his country, he enjoyed the prestigious status and was widely praised internationally for his idealism and politics.

This clearly reveals how committed Nehru Ji was regarding children getting proper education as he believed Children to be the future of the country. The progress of our country is dependent on the development of our children. You are considered as building blocks of a strong nation.

If you all come together collectively then you can bring about revolutionary changes in our country. You are responsible citizens of tomorrow because the development of the country is in your hands. I hope I have been able to address this gathering well. You all now can proceed towards enjoying activities that have been displayed across stalls for you. Enjoy the day to the core.

Speech on Children’s Day for Teachers 3

Hon’ble Principal, Vice Principal, Dear Colleagues and My Adorable Students – Warm Greetings to Everyone!

On this auspicious occasion of Children’s Day, I would like to thank everyone for giving me this wonderful opportunity to speak before you all on this fun filled day. Children are the future of any nation. They are the foundation on which the development and success of the nation is based. This day is also commemorated as birth anniversary of Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru. He is still fondly remembered as Chacha Nehru by the children.

Nehru Ji believed that for the welfare and progress of our country, we require young minds; who have the ability to build new ideas and shape our country in a manner which would be fruitful for future generation. His ideology was mainly inclined on the belief that with the establishment of various educational institutions we can nurture our future pool of talents.

Primary and elementary education was the crux of his ideas and that is the main reason which proves that he admired children.

Free meals were provided during his tenure to school children like you, which included milk and healthy meals which would prevent malnutrition in India.

Children’s Day is the time to re-establish awareness among people of India about the importance of safeguarding the rights and privileges of children as you are the future of our nation.

We celebrate Children’s Day with lots of happiness but have you ever wondered what about children who are not able to go to schools due to certain circumstances in their household. The state of children in India is a far-fetched dream to what Nehru Ji visualized. Child labor is a menace in India where children your age serve food to people in restaurants, wash dishes; leave aside the dream of education. Wherever you find children working and getting exploited, you as young minds should take initiative and restrict this kind of exploitation.

The main cause of child labor has been poverty and illiteracy. The huge gap between rich and poor is getting widened due to improper distribution of wealth. Children belonging to families below the poverty line are the ones who are adversely affected due to this scenario. They have no other option but to feed themselves through working as unskilled labor, rather it is their age to attend schools and receive knowledge and play in parks like you children.

It’s not only the state which is responsible for all this menace; but, we all are equally responsible. Turning a blind eye to such crime is also considered as a major crime. We collectively can initiate programs to help these children. We should start working towards it by implementing these thoughts in our home itself. Stop employing children as domestic help and whoever does it, make them aware. You all can donate your old books and stationary to these kids so that even they can get at least little amount of education.

Let’s join hands and help these children in what they deserve. By doing this, you will be helping the progress and development of our country.

Speech on Children’s Day for Teachers 4

Good morning Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers and My Dear Students!

As we all know that we are gathered here to celebrate the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India which is also celebrated as Children’s Day. With immense pleasure, I would like to speak on this great occasion and make this occasion a memorable one for all of you.

14 th November is celebrated as Children’s Day every year all over India in several schools and colleges. Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day because of his great love and affection for the children of the nation. He had given much importance to the children throughout his life and loved to talk and interact with them. It always liked to be among children and surrounded by them. He is fondly called as Chacha Nehru due to his admirable love for children.

In India, this day is celebrated with lot of respect and happiness. Cabinet ministers and high officials including other people gather at Shanti Bhavan early morning to pay homage and tribute to the great leader and an admirable statesman. They place flower garland at the Samadhi and perform prayers and then chanting of hymns takes place. A heartily tribute is paid to Chacha Nehru for his selfless sacrifices, encouraging youths, peaceful political achievements, etc.

He was very fond of children despite his hectic life as Indian Prime Minister. He loved to stay and play with children. In order to pay him a tribute, his birth anniversary was started celebrating as Children’s Day. Chacha Nehru said that children are the future of the country so it is necessary to love and give them care until they become independent and take the reins of their life in their own hands. Children’s day celebration is a call to everyone to protect the children from any harm and save their future to maintain bright future of the country.

Children in our country have been forced for hard labor for long hours at very little pay. Some of them have no access to modern education and that is the main reason why they are can never leave the vicious cycle of labor. They need to raise their status which is possible when every Indian citizen like us would understand our responsibility. They are valuable assets and future of the country as well as hope of tomorrow. Children’s day celebration is a right step regarding their bright future.

You as young minds can help stop these problems in India by collaborating with each other and initiating programs which can support these children. You can take help from Non-Governmental Organizations who are already working in establishing a bright future for these children. What do you do with your old books? The best that can be done is by donating these books to several NGO’s prevalent in our country which would reach those children automatically. It’s not only books, but you can also contribute your old clothes and blankets as winter is just round the corner and this will save them from chilling weather.

You all now can enjoy your day with various activities arranged for you.

Extended Speech for Children’s Day:

Respected Principal, esteemed teachers, parents, and dear students,

Today, I stand before you with a heart brimming with honor as we celebrate Children’s Day. This day, marking the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, affectionately known as Chacha Nehru, is not just a celebration; it's a profound acknowledgment of the pivotal role children play in shaping the destiny of our nation.

Our beloved Chacha Nehru once declared, “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow.” These words echo the responsibility we bear in shaping the future of our great nation. Today, in our swiftly evolving world, the power of knowledge and education is unparalleled. We, as fortunate recipients of education, must recognize the privilege bestowed upon us – a privilege not every child around the world enjoys.

However, along with this privilege comes a responsibility. We must be more than academic achievers; we must be compassionate, kind, and socially responsible individuals. Our duty is not only to excel but to stand against injustice, discrimination, and inequality. As young minds, we have the potential to be catalysts for positive change.

Every child is born with a unique set of talents, waiting to be discovered and nurtured. Whether in arts, sciences, sports, or any other field, we must strive for excellence. Yet, let us not forget that success is not merely personal achievement; it is the positive impact we impart on the lives of others.

As we revel in the festivities of Children’s Day, let us renew our commitment to learning, growing, and making a positive difference in the world. Let's treasure the joys of childhood, the laughter, and the friendships that enrich our lives. Never forget, we are the future of this great nation, and with our potential and determination, we can achieve anything.

I leave you with the profound words of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who said, “Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts, and thoughts result in action.” So, my dear friends, let us dare to dream, and through our actions, let us shape a bright and prosperous future for ourselves and our beloved India.

Happy Children’s Day to all of you, and may the spirit of childhood always stay alive in our hearts! Thank you.

After guiding your child to write a well-crafted Teachers’ Day Speech, the next step is to help them practice and deliver it with confidence. Here are some tips to ensure your child’s speech is not only impressive but also emotionally touching:

  • Practice, Practice, Practice: Encourage your child to rehearse their speech in front of a mirror or with family and friends. This will help them overcome stage fright and build their confidence.
  • Focus on Intonation and Voice Modulation: The tone of voice and modulation can make or break a speech. Encourage your child to practice speaking in a clear, confident, and emotive tone. Teach them to emphasize important words, phrases, and expressions to make their speech more impactful.
  • Maintain a Moderate Rate of Speech: Your child should speak at a pace that is neither too fast nor too slow. Speaking too fast may cause the audience to miss important points, while speaking too slowly can make the speech boring and uninteresting.
  • Use a Pleasing Pitch: Your child’s pitch should be pleasing to the ear. Teach them to speak with a tone that is neither too high nor too low. This will make their speech more engaging and interesting to listen to.
  • Engage the Audience with Presentation: Encourage your child to use appropriate gestures and body language to complement their speech. This will help them connect with the audience and keep them engaged throughout the speech.
  • Maintain Eye Contact: Your child should maintain eye contact with the audience while delivering their speech. This will make them appear confident and sincere.

How to Prepare Your Child for the Speech

Preparing your child for a speech can be a daunting task, but with the right approach, it can be an enjoyable experience for both you and your child. Whether your child is giving a speech for a school assembly or a special occasion like Teacher’s Day, here are some tips to help them prepare and deliver an outstanding speech.

  • Start Early: It’s important to give your child enough time to prepare their speech. This will allow them to research the topic, organize their thoughts, and practice their delivery. Encourage your child to start working on their speech at least a week in advance.
  • Understand the Audience: Before your child starts writing their speech, it’s important to understand the audience they will be speaking to. This will help them tailor their speech to the interests and expectations of the listeners.
  • Practice, Practice, Practice: Once your child has written their speech, encourage them to practice it several times. This will help them feel more confident and comfortable with their delivery. You can also practice with them by giving feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Intonation and Voice Modulation: Encourage your child to practice their intonation and voice modulation. This will help them to add emphasis to important points and create a more engaging delivery. A monotone delivery can quickly lose the attention of the audience.
  • Moderate Rate of Speech: Encourage your child to speak at a moderate rate. Speaking too fast can cause the audience to lose track of what’s being said, while speaking too slow can cause them to lose interest.
  • Use Personal Anecdotes: Encourage your child to include personal anecdotes in their speech. This will help them connect with the audience on a deeper level and make their speech more memorable.
  • Incorporate Humor: Humor is a great way to engage the audience and make the speech more entertaining. Encourage your child to include appropriate humor in their speech.
  • Keep it Short and Simple: Encourage your child to keep their speech short and to the point. A long, rambling speech can quickly lose the interest of the audience.
  • Use Visual Aids: If appropriate, encourage your child to use visual aids to support their speech. This can include slides, pictures, or props that help to illustrate their points.
  • Be Confident: Finally, encourage your child to be confident in their delivery. Remind them that they have worked hard to prepare their speech and that they have important things to share with the audience. With the right preparation and mindset, your child can deliver a successful and memorable speech.
  • Encourage them to practice in front of a mirror: This will help them to work on their facial expressions and body language, which are important aspects of delivering a great speech.
  • Record their practice sessions: By recording their practice sessions, your child can listen to themselves and identify areas where they need to improve, such as intonation, pacing, or clarity.
  • Provide constructive feedback: When listening to your child’s practice sessions, be sure to offer constructive feedback that will help them improve their speech. Focus on specific areas where they can improve, and be sure to offer praise for what they’re doing well.
  • Help them to memorize the speech: While it’s not necessary for your child to memorize their entire speech, it’s a good idea for them to memorize the opening and closing lines, as well as any important points they want to make.
  • Practice with an audience: Encourage your child to practice their speech in front of a small audience, such as family members or close friends. This will help them to get used to speaking in front of others and build their confidence.
  • Remind them to breathe: Before your child begins their speech, remind them to take a deep breath and exhale slowly. This will help to calm their nerves and steady their voice.
  • Dress appropriately: Encourage your child to dress appropriately for the occasion. This will help them to feel confident and professional, which will shine through in their speech.

Remember, the most important thing is to help your child feel confident and prepared for their Teacher’s Day speech. With your guidance and support, they’ll be able to deliver a speech that is heartfelt, meaningful, and impactful.

Long Speech on Teacher’s Day for Students

Respected Principal, teachers, dear students, and esteemed guests,

Good morning to all of you,

Today, we are gathered here to celebrate a day that holds immense significance in our lives – Teacher's Day. This day provides us with an opportunity to express our deep appreciation for the invaluable contributions that our teachers make to our education and personal growth.

Teachers are the architects of our futures. They are the guiding lights that illuminate the path of knowledge, wisdom, and character-building for us. Their impact goes far beyond the classroom, shaping not only our academic pursuits but also our values, aspirations, and outlook on life. As we celebrate Teacher's Day, it is essential to reflect on the profound role teachers play in moulding us into responsible citizens and lifelong learners.

The history of Teacher's Day dates back to the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a distinguished philosopher, scholar, and teacher. His dedication to education and his belief in the power of knowledge to transform lives have left an indelible mark on our society. It was his humility and commitment that led him to suggest that his birthday should be celebrated not as his own, but as a day to honour teachers. This gesture exemplifies the humility and selflessness that define the teaching profession.

The journey of education cannot be traversed alone. It requires the guidance, mentorship, and support of dedicated teachers who nurture us along the way. They invest their time, energy, and passion in ensuring that we are equipped with the tools we need to succeed, both academically and in life. They believe in us even when we doubt ourselves and encourage us to reach for the stars.

Every teacher is unique and brings their own style and approach to the classroom. Some teachers are strict taskmasters, pushing us to achieve our best, while others are compassionate listeners, ready to offer a guiding hand when we face challenges. Regardless of their methods, all teachers share a common goal – to empower us with knowledge and skills that will enable us to thrive in an ever-changing world.

The impact of a teacher goes beyond academic subjects. They are role models who teach us values like honesty, empathy, and perseverance. They inspire us to be curious, to question the world around us, and to seek knowledge beyond the confines of textbooks. Teachers shape our character, instil in us a sense of responsibility towards society, and encourage us to contribute positively to the world.

Think back to the teachers who have left a lasting impression on your life. Perhaps it was a teacher who patiently explained a difficult concept until you grasped it, a teacher who recognized your potential and encouraged you to pursue your passions or a teacher who offered a listening ear and words of comfort during challenging times. These are the teachers who go above and beyond, and who make a difference not only in our education but in our hearts.

As we celebrate Teacher's Day, let us not forget the challenges that teachers face. The teaching profession is one of dedication and sacrifice. Teachers often work long hours, spend countless evenings grading papers, and invest their own resources to create engaging learning experiences for us. It is important that we acknowledge their efforts and show our appreciation not just on this day but throughout the year.

So, how can we make this Teacher's Day meaningful? Firstly, let us express our gratitude. A simple "thank you" can go a long way in letting our teachers know that their hard work is recognized and valued. Secondly, let us strive to be active participants in our education. Engage in class discussions, ask questions, and take ownership of your learning journey. Lastly, let us carry forward the lessons our teachers have taught us. Let's be kind, curious, and committed to making a positive impact on the world around us.

In conclusion, let us celebrate Teacher's Day with genuine appreciation for the teachers who shape our lives. Let us honour their dedication, recognize their impact, and express our heartfelt gratitude. Remember that the knowledge and values they impart will continue to influence us long after we leave the school gates. As we embark on our journey of learning and growth, let us carry the torch of knowledge that our teachers have passed on to us and make them proud in all our endeavours.

Short Speech on Teachers Day 300 Words

Good morning to one and all. Today is an auspicious occassion where we get a chance to acknowledge the hardwork of the teachers who mould the students into future leaders. This day is known as the “Teachers’ Day” which is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the second president of Independent India, who himself was a teacher, philosopher and educationist.

Teachers are the pillars of a country. They guide and shape the destiny of the students. They teach them to become better human beings. They are the reason behind the successful career of a student. Teachers like S.Radhakrishnan and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam are some of the renowned names that have given meaning to the word “teacher”.

Teachers are not necessarily present only in schools. Everyone around us teaches something or the other. The greatest of all teachers is ‘life’ that teaches us the art of survival. Parents are our prime most teachers. Our friends, nature, animals, our mistakes, everything is a teacher in some form or the other. Today is the day to honour all of them.

I take privilege in wishing all our mentors in the school and across the country a very happy teachers’ day. Teachers are a blessing in disguise. They are the guiding light that brightens our lives all through. Teaching is actually a way of life, and not just a profession. We are fortunate to have been blessed with such wonderful teachers who are always up for grooming the students into the finest individuals. We pray for their well-being and success, and shower immense respect today and always.

Long Speech on Teachers Day 500 Words in English

Good morning respected Principal Sir, teachers and dear students. Today we have gathered here to honour and acknowledge the hard work and contributions of teachers throughout the world.

Educating people is one of the greatest jobs one can do. The profession of teaching exists since time immemorial. In olden times, there was the gurukul system of teaching where the students left their homes to stay with the sages in the forest. They educated the students for years who returned to their homes after several years of training. These sages were worshipped by the students and their parents like they worshipped God. Since then, a teacher is placed next to God.

The teaching system had been modified over the years and today we see a large number of educational institutions running across the country. Teaching is the greatest act of optimism. It is one such profession that creates all other professions. Great teachers like Sir Radhakrishnan and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam are an inspiration to all of us.

5th September is celebrated as “ Teachers’ Day ” throughout the country since the year 1962 on the birth anniversary of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the second President of India who was also a philosopher and an educationist. When he became the President of India, few of his students requested to let them celebrate his birthday on 5th September. On this, he asked them to celebrate the day as “Teachers’ Day” and not just as his birthday. This would make him happier and even more proud. Ever since. the day is celebrated as “Teachers’ Day”.

Everything and everyone around us teach something or the other. Our prime education begins at home. As we grow and meet people, we learn from them. Experience and mistakes are our greatest teachers. They teach us how to handle situations and survive in this world. I had been fortunate enough to have been taught by such wonderful teachers who had helped me transform into a better person.

Long Speech on Children’s Day

Long Speech on Teachers Day in English for students is helpful for students in grades 7-12. Let’s take a look at the Teachers Day Speech, one can speak about.

Greetings to everyone gathered here on the occasion of Children’s Day respected teachers, and my dear friends.

Children’s Day in India is celebrated every year on 14th November. This day is also called Bal Divas, “Bal” in Hindi means a “child”, and divas mean “day.” This day is also celebrated in honor of the birth anniversary of our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru who was fondly called “Chacha Nehru” or “Chachaji” by children, he had a special connection with them and was always affectionate in their company. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14th November 1889, in Allahabad and was schooled at home under private tutors in his early life. This is his 132nd anniversary. After he breathed his last in 1964, a resolution was passed to celebrate his birthday as Bal Divas or Children’s Day, where all can revisit the child in them and celebrate their childlike qualities and remember the importance of keeping them intact.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the epitome of love towards children and was always devoted to working towards their betterment and welfare. A child when well nurtured builds a stronger nation. And this can be achieved through quality education, a child’s first school is their home, so parents play an important role in laying the foundation of discipline, honesty, and sincerity, and children with such qualities go on to excel in school and life and bring laurels to our nation. Many of our great freedom fighters credit their competencies and ability to their parents and teachers, similarly, one can take inspiration from them and follow their paths by giving due respect to parents and teachers equally as they play an essential role in shaping a child’s future. A child should be given complete freedom to unleash themselves and explore their interests and take the path of their calling. And this is possible only through proper education and holistic development.

A child should be treated and cared for in the kindest and affectionate way and Pandit Nehru deeply cared for their well being hence many laws were established for this purpose. The Indian Constitution’s Supreme Law guarantees that all under the age of 18 have children’s rights. This law advocates the right to be cared for by their parents or guardians, the right to education, the right to consume healthy food, and the right to feel safe and protected. Specially-abled children have the right to special care.

In his regime, he always focused on the vision of making India a world leader and that can be achieved only by nurturing the future of the country which are the children. He always believed in empowering young children and never clipping their wings. He said, “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow.” This Children’s Day let’s take a pledge to create a safe place for the future of our country and not threaten and hinder their growth.

Wish you all a Happy Children’s Day.

He was tutored privately with a tutor in his early years and he understood the importance of education and the good outcomes it can lead to.

He loved his time with children and children also were very fond of him as they referred to him as “Chacha Nehru” and “Chachaji”. Children’s Day Speech in English

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed teachers, and my dear fellow students,

Today, as we gather here to celebrate Children’s Day, it is an absolute pleasure to address you. This day holds a special place in our hearts, as it is a day dedicated entirely to us, the future of our nation. It is a day when we come together to celebrate the spirit of childhood, innocence, and the boundless potential that resides within each one of  us.

Children’s Day, observed on the birthday of our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, is a day that not only honors his love and affection for children but also symbolizes the significance of nurturing, educating, and empowering the young minds of our nation.

Our beloved Chacha Nehru once said, “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow.” These words still hold true, reminding us of the vital role we play in shaping the destiny of our great nation. Our actions, thoughts, and dreams will determine the path India follows in the future. We must remember that the dreams we nurture today will be the reality we live in tomorrow.

In today’s rapidly changing world, the power of knowledge and education is unparalleled. We, the children, are fortunate to have access to education, a gift that not every child around the world is privileged to receive. This gift empowers us to dream, to think critically, and to make choices. It is our duty to make the most of this opportunity.

We must also acknowledge that along with the privilege of education comes the responsibility to be the change-makers in society. We must stand up against injustice, discrimination, and inequalities. Our role is not just to excel academically but to be compassionate, kind, and socially responsible individuals.

Every child is born with a unique set of talents, and it is our responsibility to discover and nurture those talents. Whether it is in the arts, sciences, sports, or any other field, we must strive for excellence. In our pursuit of greatness, let us remember that success is not measured solely by personal achievements but by the positive impact we have on the lives of others.

Today, as we celebrate Children’s Day, let us renew our commitment to learning, to growing, and making a positive difference in the world. Let us treasure the joys of childhood, the laughter, and the friendships that enrich our lives. Let us never forget that we are the future of this great nation, and with our potential and determination, we can achieve anything we set our minds to.

I would like to leave you with a thought by the great Dr.

Thank you.

Children, you are the architects of tomorrow. Your dreams, your aspirations, and your actions will shape the world we live in. So, let your dreams soar high, for the sky is the limit.

Parents, teachers, and adults, let us stand by these young minds. Let us provide them with the love, care, and guidance they need to thrive. Together, we can create a world where every child’s potential is realized.

The Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization said his father has proven time and time again that he is not fueled by personal ambition but by courage, determination and profound love for the American people.

"My father has been persecuted, targeted by far left Democrats, funded by special interest groups and handpicked judges. My father has been pulled off the ballot of states, radical justices attempting to defy the will of millions of Americans who adore who he is and what he stands for," Eric Trump said.

Eric's words followed Wednesday's speech by Donald Trump Jr., who attacked the administration of President Joe Biden on inflation, border policy and so-called cancel culture. Trump Jr. also complained about the Department of Justice and the 34 state felony convictions against the former president.

What to know about Eric Trump

Trump's second eldest son, Eric is an American businessman, philanthropist and former reality TV personality. He is among the cohort of Trump's loved ones who spoke at the RNC. Lara Trump, Trump's daughter-in-law (Eric Trump's wife), Donald Trump Jr., and Kimberly Guilfoyle, Trump's soon-to-be daughter-in-law (Donald Trump Jr.'s fiancée) spoke earlier this week.

On the first night of the convention Monday, during an interview with NBC News ' Savannah Gutherie, the 40-year-old reflected on his father surviving Saturday's assassination attempt and his plans for an "incredibly positive" speech. He also praised his dad's decision to select Ohio Sen. JD Vance as his running mate.

"The chemistry between the two of them... is really tremendous," Eric Trump said. They communicate well."

The Republican National Convention is in Milwaukee through Thursday where former President Donald Trump on Thursday will formally accept the party’s nomination for the 2024 Election.

5 takeaways from the final night of the RNC, including Trump’s speech

short speech on children's day for teachers

By BILL BARROW and MICHELLE L. PRICE, Associated Press

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Republican National Convention celebrated former President  Donald Trump  not just as a party leader but a living martyr who survived a would-be  assassin’s bullet  and is ready to work for everyday Americans after a sweeping victory in November.

The portrayals of unity, including in Trump’s first speech since he was injured in the assassination attempt last Saturday, sought to erase the image of a man whose presidency often swirled in chaos and infighting and ended with a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Democrats have repeatedly wielded images of that day to try to thwart his return and have spotlighted his recurring use of inflammatory and hardline rhetoric.

Inside the Milwaukee arena, he was “an American folk hero” and “strong commander in chief,” alive because of a “miracle.” To the left, he remains a threat to democracy, with authoritarian designs.

There’s plenty of campaigning left between now and the election, so the effectiveness of the competing messages remains to be seen. But it’s been a striking four days for a Republican Party that over three presidential elections has been reshaped by Trump’s personality and his politics.

Here are some takeaways from the closing stanza of the GOP gathering in Wisconsin.

Trump promisesd to serve ‘all of America’ (But …)

Trump, who has not won the popular vote in two tries, opened with the sweeping tone common to inaugural addresses.

“The discord and division in our society must be healed. As Americans, we are bound together by a single fate and a shared destiny,” he said. “I am running to be president for all of America, not half of America, because there is no victory in winning for half of America.”

It was a sharp departure from his first convention acceptance in Cleveland eight years ago, when he painted a dark portrait of American life and declared, “I alone can fix it.”

It seemed at first that Trump was trying to embody a less partisan, less caustic version of himself — still a giant personality, but one that uses his stature for the country’s benefit. Yet as quickly as he called for an end of the “demonization of political enemies,” he turned the issue exclusively toward Democrats. He reprised his accusations that his criminal conviction and other prosecutions were because of the weaponization of the justice system. And he answered the critique that he is upending democracy by insisting, “I am the one saving democracy.”

Republicans in the convention hall embraced the idea. But it was aimed at what’s almost certainly a more circumspect crowd: swing voters and sporadic voters, those people Republicans will need in order to have the kind of sweeping victory they talked about in Milwaukee.

Trump tried to humanize his image by telling of assassination attempt

The former president spoke in vivid detail of his experience being injured and nearly killed on Saturday.

“You will never hear it from me a second time because it’s actually too painful,” he said before recalling at length a “beautiful day” that took a fateful turn. He recalled “a loud whizzing sound” and realized his ear was injured. He praised Secret Service agents, avoiding any mention of the criticism the agency is taking in Washington.

“I felt serene,” he said.

“I stand before you in this arena only by the grace of Almighty God,” Trump continued, echoing the same idea of divine intervention that flowed freely from the stage during the convention. “I’m not supposed to be here tonight,” he said, with delegates responding with a chant of “Yes you are! Yes you are!”

On stage was the uniform of the retired fire chief, Corey Comperatore, who was killed behind Trump. It was powerful stagecraft and storytelling. When Trump returns to his post-convention rally circuit, it will be notable to watch whether the former presidents sticks to his claim that he will not talk again about the assassination attempt that shocked the nation.

The brand man rebranded — with limits

Trump, the name and the man, has been ubiquitous for decades. Americans and the world recognized those gold letters, T-R-U-M-P, and watched him say, “You’re fired!” on his hit show “The Apprentice” long before Trump first ran for president. He took over the GOP and won the presidency in 2016 as the unapologetically bombastic political outsider.

The convention program sought to frame the former president as a softer, more compassionate man who helps people individually and is determined to help Americans across the country.  Alina Habba , a Trump attorney, talked of “his character, his kindness, his commitment to saving this great country.” Personal friend Steve Witkoff described Trump as a lover of music, “a man who in the darkest hours shows up, listens and always acts.”

Between speeches Thursday, videos of Trump filled the arena with another tone. Democrats, a stern-looking Trump said, “are destroying our country. … They do cheat. And, frankly, it’s the only thing they do well. … Swamp them — they can’t cheat.”

Leading up to his speech, Trump called on a number of figures from the world of professional fighting, including retired wrestler Hulk Hogan and Linda McMahon, the former president and CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. She made perhaps the most overt attempt to straddle the competing messages: “Donald Trump is not only a fighter, ladies and gentleman,” she said. “He is a good man.”

It perhaps added up to a confusing message.

Certainly, you can square images of an aggressive politician and a compassionate man who loves music, his friends, his family and even Americans he does not know.

But there’s a difference in selling Trump as someone who leverages his determination on behalf of those “everyday Americans” and one who uses hyperbolic attacks on whole classes of Americans and still fights over a presidential election that he lost. Voters who believe Trump’s false assertions about 2020 and relish his broadsides are already in his corner. He’s trying to grow his coalition, or at least he needs to if Republicans want to have the kind of November sweep they’ve talked about in Milwaukee.

Short on details of another term

Trump made sweeping promises to end inflation and secure the border. He said “Republicans have a plan” to bring down energy prices “very, very rapidly.” He didn’t say what it is.

He said he’d “drill, baby, drill” and “reduce your taxes.” He suggested falsely that Democrats want to raise taxes “by four times” what they are now.

The most specific he got was promising to roll back Biden administration efforts to combat climate change, direct all infrastructure spending to “roads and bridges,” and impose steep tariffs.

GOP leaders said ahead of the convention that Trump should lay out a clear vision of what a second presidency would look like. If he did that, it was only in the broadest strokes, mostly using crowd-pleasing talking points.

Trump barely mentioned Biden or Harris

Many Republican speakers this week made a point not just to blast President Joe Biden but also Vice President  Kamala Harris . It’s an obvious move to position the party for the possibility that the 81-year-old Biden ends his campaign and Democrats turn to his second-in-command.

Trump himself barely acknowledged the Democratic incumbents. “I’m only going to say it one time,” he said, after mentioning Biden by name. At another point, he said merely “this person.”

That approach could be because of how much  Democrats are in flux , leaving Trump unsure of who he will actually face in the fall. It could just as easily reflect how confident Trump is that he will win. Perhaps he believes he does not need to take on Biden any longer at all.

Who's sitting next to Donald Trump at the RNC? Jason Aldean, Eric Hovde and more

Former President Donald Trump was flanked by some notable names as he took his seat at Fiserv Forum to take in the final night of the Republican National Convention on Thursday night.

Among those sitting with Trump was his vice-presidential pick, U.S. Sen. JD Vance and his wife Usha; Wisconsin U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde; and country music star Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany Aldean.

Trump entered the arena well before he was scheduled to formally accept the nomination on the stage later Thursday night, taking a seat in a box above the stage.

Wisconsin U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde sits with Trump on final night of RNC

Hovde was seated behind Trump and shook the former president's hand when Trump arrived in the box.

The multimillionaire banking mogul is running against U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, a Democrat from Madison.

Jason Aldean, Brittany Aldean, Sen. Ted Cruz and others join Trump in box at RNC

Aldean sat directly next to Trump.

Aldean will be performing at a party the RNC Host Committee is throwing after the convention ends Thursday night, Reince Priebus, chair of the RNC host committee, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz was seated behind Donald Trump Thursday and next to Hovde.

Cruz, Trump's former rival, has struck a very different tone in 2024 compared to 2016 , when he refused to endorse Trump and urged people to "vote your conscience."

Sam Brown, a U.S. Senate candidate from Nevada, joined Trump and others Thursday in Trump's box, which was wrapped in red and labeled, "Make America Great Once Again." Brown, who previously spoke at the RNC, survived an explosion in Afghanistan.

Later in the evening, Trump was also joined after a while by his vice-presidential running mate Ohio Sen. JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance in addition to Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee and his daughter-in-law. Politicians and others continued to exit and join the box throughout the night.

Politics latest: Starmer suspends Labour MPs who rebelled over two-child benefit cap vote; James Cleverly announces Tory leadership bid

Mr Cleverly becomes the first Tory MP to announce he is entering the race to replace Rishi Sunak as the party's leader; MPs vote against an amendment which called for the two-child benefit cap to be scrapped - but seven Labour MPs who rebelled have the whip withdrawn.

We're pausing our live politics coverage for tonight.

Be sure to join us again tomorrow morning for all the latest updates as they happen.

Earlier, we reported on seven Labour MPs voting against the government to back an SNP amendment on the King's Speech.

This called for the abolition of the two-child benefit cap.

Well, the MPs have got their response from the party - a suspension.

Richard Burgon, John McDonnell, Imran Hussain, Apsana Begum, Zarah Sultana, Rebecca Long-Bailey and Ian Byrne have all had the whip suspended.

This decision will be reviewed in six months, it is understood.

Ms Sultana said on social media: "I have been informed by the Chief Whip & the Labour Party leadership that the whip has been withdrawn from me for voting to scrap the two-child benefit cap, which would lift 330,000 children out of poverty.

"I will always stand up for the most vulnerable in our society."

Shadow home secretary James Cleverly has become the first Tory MP to break cover in the race to replace Rishi Sunak as the party's leader.

He shared a video on X explaining his reasons.

And writing in the Telegraph, he said: "We need to rediscover confidence that our core values are shared by the British public and present an offer of unity, security, and prosperity.

"We must ditch the self indulgent infighting and be ready to deliver when the next chance comes. This will take dedication, discipline and focus."

His campaign launch touted the fact Mr Cleverly "negotiated a landmark treaty with Rwanda" and "passed the Safety of Rwanda Act" as being among his achievements while home secretary.

It also pointed out his success as Tory chair during the Johnson years and the associated campaigns, and his lobbying for Ukraine and against Hamas as foreign secretary.

His policy platform includes wanting lower taxes, a smaller state, supporting business with deregulation instead of subsidy, and increasing defence spending to 3%.

He also calls for more housing to be built in urban areas.

We're hearing a bit more from the tunnels of the Palace of Westminster about tonight's vote.

Seven of the 103 people who voted for the SNP's amendment to the King's Speech seeking to abolish the two-child benefit cap were from Labour.

This is lower than previously expected - with reports those who did so risked losing the party whip.

Richard Burgon, John McDonnell, Imran Hussain, Apsana Begum, Zarah Sultana, Rebecca Long-Bailey and Ian Byrne all voted against the government, according to the official record.

They were joined by the SNP, Green Party, independents including Jeremy Corbyn and much of the Liberal Democrat party.

One Conservative MP recorded a vote - Sir John Hayes, who voted with Labour.

Despite their motion being defeated in the Commons just now, the SNP have put out a response saying they will keep campaigning for the two-child benefit cap to be abolished.

In a statement, SNP leader in Westminster Stephen Flynn said: "Tonight, the Labour Party has failed its first major test in government.

"Labour MPs had the opportunity to deliver meaningful change from years of Tory misrule by immediately lifting thousands of children out of poverty - they have made a political choice not to do so.

"This is now the Labour government's two child cap - and it must take ownership of the damage it is causing, including the appalling levels of poverty in the UK.

"The SNP will campaign vigorously for the cap to be abolished at the earliest opportunity. It is the very worst of Westminster's welfare cuts, and every day it remains more children suffer.

"The Labour government has a moral duty to go much further and faster to tackle child poverty. Scrapping the cap is the bare minimum we should expect."

Sir Keir Starmer's Labour has seen off a rebellion from backbench MPs in the Commons.

MPs have been voting in the parliament on Labour's legislative plans set out in the King's Speech.

One such vote was an attempt to amend the King's Speech to mention the abolition of the two-child benefit cap.

A number of Labour MPs rebelled against their own government - we'll bring you a full list later on - but with a majority of more than 170 Sir Keir Starmer easily saw them off.

In total, there were 103 votes for the amendment, and 363 against.

The amendment had the backing of the Green Party, Plaid Cymru, the SDLP, the Alliance Party and a number of independent MPs, including former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, as well as Labour rebels and the SNP.

The new government has said they want to lift the cap, but can't afford the £3bn it would cost.

This is the first challenge the new government has faced from its own benches, but will be far from the last.

The timeless words of "Division! Clear the lobby!" have been called by the Speaker of the Commons, and MPs are now voting on the SNP's amendment to the King's Speech calling for the abolition of the two-child benefit cap.

Interestingly, it does not seem like many Tory MPs are present.

However, a healthy delegation of Labour MPs are in the chamber, so we can expect the government to vote down the motion comfortably.

While our main channel switches between the events in the US and Westminster, you can follow the Commons on a dedicated stream below:

Sky chief political correspondent Jon Craig is in central lobby in Westminster, as MPs vote on the King's Speech and various amendments.

A rebellion is expected from some Labour MPs to back the SNP's calls for the abolition of the two-child benefit cap.

But Jon hears the rebellion could be as small as eight to a dozen MPs - far fewer than was previously threatened.

There are even reports that Labour MPs voting with the SNP have been threatened with suspension from the parliamentary party.

Stay with us for all the latest - the vote is expected shortly.

Today's episode of the Politics Hub with Ali Fortescue is underway.

Ali Fortescue is hosting the Politics Hub tonight from 7pm.

She'll be joined by Mick Lynch , the general secretary of the RMT Union, and Baroness Sayeeda Warsi , a Conservative peer.

And it may be that during the show we'll be getting votes on the King's Speech in the Commons - including a potential Labour rebellion on the two-child benefit cap.

Chief political correspondent Jon Craig will be at hand to explain what happens and what it all means.

A Fiery Biden, Ignoring Critics, Attacks Trump to Chants of ‘Lock Him Up’

Facing rising frustration in his party, the president brushed it off in an energetic speech in Michigan. Inside the room, at least, the Democratic mood was defiant, with cheers of “Don’t go, Joe.”

President Biden speaking onstage at a high school in Detroit on Friday evening.

By Nicholas Nehamas and Reid J. Epstein

Nicholas Nehamas reported from Detroit, and Reid J. Epstein from Washington.

President Biden on Friday strove to turn the nation’s attention back to former President Donald J. Trump, delivering a fiery and energetic speech in battleground Michigan that painted his Republican rival as a convict, a rapist and a cheater while simultaneously attacking the news media for an insufficient focus on such misdeeds.

Even as Mr. Biden faces mounting pressure from congressional Democrats and major donors , he largely ignored the brewing Democratic revolt over his refusal to drop out of the race, beyond an emphatic statement that “I am running, and we’re going to win.”

The president’s defiance, and the crowd’s enthusiastic response, helped give the Biden event at a Detroit high school gym the flavor of a Trump rally at times. When Mr. Biden referred to his political opponent, there were chants of “Lock him up” — which the president did not discourage. When he criticized news media coverage, big cheers followed, with his supporters turning to boo and point fingers at reporters.

Mr. Biden thundered that his rival was a “convicted criminal” and a “business fraud,” and said that he had “raped” the writer E. Jean Carroll, whom Mr. Trump was found liable of sexually abusing by a civil court.

In all, the 35-minute speech was a version of Mr. Biden that has been absent since he began his re-election campaign — and maybe one not seen since he was on a presidential ticket with Barack Obama. After two weeks of Democratic panic since his distressing debate performance, plummeting donations and polls that show him falling further behind Mr. Trump, Mr. Biden acted as if he was in the presidential race to stay.

“I’m the nominee of the Democratic Party, the only Democrat or Republican who has beaten Donald Trump ever,” said Mr. Biden, whose remarks were greeted by loud chants of “Don’t go, Joe” and “Don’t you quit.”
