Voice Talent Cover Letter Three of Three

We have reached the third and final part of our three-step series for the voice talent cover letter. At the bottom of this article will be a full example of a completed cover letter. Before this, it is essential to complete the construction of the letter. Take a moment to imagine a Christmas tree; on its own, it looks plain, but the addition of baubles and tinsel makes it visually much more interesting. In this part of our cover letter series, we will be applying the lights and turning them on, making your cover letter shine like the most festive of Christmas trees.

Critiquing the Cover Letter Intro

Referring back to the introduction line it is important to ask one’s self the following question: why do you love that thing you referenced? How does it resonate with you? Why is this client amazing? The language recommended for use here will only complement the potential client. Example: “ Climate change is an important topic, and the fact that you are dealing with it in such a creative way is inspiring. I will support your mission in any way that I can. ”

Looking at this sentence, we can break it down as follows: Climate change is an important topic =  The element we identified on the potential client’s website which we liked and the fact that you are dealing with it in such a creative way is inspiring. = complementing the potential client I will support your mission in any way that I can. = Reassuring the potential client they are doing the right thing and giving your support

Adapting Paragraph One of the Voiceover Cover Letter

For paragraph one, it is important to ask oneself the following question: Why are you the solution to their problem? Be honest with them; it’s fine to acknowledge that they are super busy and life is hard; everyone experiences this. Example: ” I know you must be snowed under with none-stop emails, texts, and phone calls, but a nice break helps with everything ”

One of the most powerful parts of the cover letter comes after you have signed off… The P.S. Having a ‘P.S.’ at the end of a cover letter is highly likely to get seen by the reader. Studies show that the reader will almost always acknowledge the P.S.

Concluding The Cover Letter for Voice Actors

For the P.S., ensure that you have a powerful, fun, and catchy point to deliver. Example: “P.S. Don’t wait too long to get back to me; we don’t want the coffee to get cold!”

Once you have gone through this section, make any relevant changes to what you wrote previously. Finally, do not forget to add your ‘P.S.’!

Cover letters are very important and there is a real art to getting it right. The wonderful thing right now in the industry is that you can take control of your business and reach out to your future clients and agents. Reaching out to producers, casting directors and agents directly is very helpful. A cover letter should be engaging, relevant and definitely not generic. One of the most important things when writing a cover letter is taking the time to research who you are writing to so that it is relevant to them. Cover letters are used for building your contact, client and dream list.

My name is Alan and I am a British voice actor based in Leeds, UK. I have a friendly, story-telling charm to my voice with a small hint of a Northern English accent. I can create a range of powerful character voices for Animation and Gaming. Additionally, I can also provide informative, conversational and relaxed voices for Commercial and Corporate use.

I have worked in the Performing Arts industry for over 20 years. Having worked in Theatre, TV, Performance Capture, Film and VO I am passionate about bringing characters to life no matter what situation or genre they are needed for.

I am confident working with clients all over the world from my high spec home studio but I am more than happy to commute if that is to my client's preference. My aim is to bring your projects to life in the smoothest way possible for you. Every production will be of the highest quality and will be delivered within any deadline given.
