The family office of actor Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly acquired a minor stake in the food delivery platform Swiggy . This move reflects the growing interest in the quick-commerce sector, driven by the rising demand for rapid delivery services.
The Economic Times reported that Amitabh Bachchan’s family office acquired this stake by purchasing shares from the company’s employees and early investors.
While the specific financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, it is described as significant.
Additionally, the report mentions that Raamdeo Agrawal, chairman of Motilal Oswal Financial Services, has also taken a stake in Swiggy.

The SoftBank-backed Indian food delivery giant is also targeting a valuation of around $15 billion for its upcoming stock market offering to raise $1-1.2 billion, three people familiar with the matter told news agency Reuters .
The deal would make it one of the biggest Indian initial public offerings this year.
Swiggy competes with Zomato in India’s online restaurant and cafe food deliveries sector, and both have made major bets on the new so-called quick commerce boom where groceries and other products are being delivered in 10 minutes.
Swiggy received shareholder approval in April for an IPO that would raise to $1.25 billion and its confidential filing is expected to be cleared by the Indian markets regulator within a month or so. Following the approval it will file a public prospectus, according to the people, who declined to be named as the matter is private.
The company is targeting a valuation of around $15 billion though the final figure can change, they said.
Swiggy said in response to a Reuters query that it could not comment on “any market speculation”.
Its last funding round, led by Invesco in 2022, valued it at $10.7 billion.
One of the sources said Swiggy aimed to use IPO proceeds to expand its quick commerce Instamart business and open more warehouses to better compete with Zomato.
Zomato’s shares have more than doubled since listing in 2021 and it has a market valuation of around $28 billion.
Goldman Sachs said in April quick deliveries accounted for $5 billion, or 45%, of India’s $11 billion online grocery market and forecast the segment to reach a 70% share of that market by 2030.
Reuters in June reported that Swiggy was increasingly focusing on its Instamart business.
Swiggy’s food delivery business is profitable but grocery delivery Instamart business is still loss making, sources say. The company has around 550 grocery warehouses in 35 Indian cities.

I have probably never before visited such a high class café as Tchaikovsky. There was nothing outside telling that inside was something extra and without my Russian friends I would never had went in. But do visit Café Tchaikovsky. You will not be disappointed. You can stop there just to have a cup of coffee or thee, but you can also have food if you like. The atmosphere is fine and the service good. Note, that there are several big rooms belonging to this café.

We were absolutely delighted to discover genuine Georgian food and delicious wine inside cafe Chaikovsky. The walls are thoughtfully decorated by XIX c. Photographs of Tbilisi=Tiflis, capital of Georgia and Petr Chaikovsky visiting Georgia. He was in love with the country its culture and gastronomy. Service and atmosphere were very friendly and there was a great variety of our favorite entries. The bill was unexpectedly moderate and we plan to come back with our friends and relatives!
The cafe/restaurant itself looks great and the lady who greeted us and showed us to a table was good but the waiters who openly argue infront of the customers and who also got my girlfriend's order wrong despite repeating it back to us left us thinking this place could be so much more than just average to sloppy. We also had to ask for the bill twice.
Georgian specialaities. Big place, some seating outside. Decent menu. The trick here is to have a big selection of starters and pass on the main course. Those starters are excellent and original. The meat skewers are good, but not as special as the Georgian starters. Very friendly service, but the delivery was faulty. Had to wait longer than we should have for drinks.
Went to this restaurant after a concert at the Tchaikovsky hall. Being able to walk straight into the restaurant from the main foyer is great in itself and the restaurant looks like it would fit the bill. The menu is predictable but OK. Service a bit sloppy but acceptable, the food was good. All in all a decent experience. BUT, imagine what this could be. The setting is unique in one of the city's two main classical music venues. Many guests, like me, will just have come out from a lovely concert and are in a good mood. To then be greeted by non-descript loud modern music and staff that appear oblivious to where they are working is not how it should be. Get it right and this will be a top spot in Moscow!
