Unnecessarily complicated and unbelievable ending, script is too complicated and lots of error in seances just like every other hindi movie. There is not a single part where we can remember the movie and going to tell somebody about that flim. Nothing new.

‘HIT’ movie review: This Vishwak Sen-starrer hits close to the bull’s eye
Director sailesh kolanu debuts with a riveting thriller, and signals the beginning of a new franchise.
February 28, 2020 02:01 pm | Updated 02:18 pm IST
Vishwak Sen in the film
The mark of a well-made thriller lies in its ability to grab our attention and keep us invested throughout, and more importantly make us care for the key characters. Writer and debut director Dr Sailesh Kolanu does that skilfully with HIT (Homicide Intervention Team), building a taut thriller that doesn’t lose momentum.
HIT has a strong screenplay and complementing Sailesh’s vision is a bravura team — cinematographer S Manikandan who creates an atmosphere of intrigue with a largely brown-green-yellow tinted colour palette, art director Avinash Kolla, editor Garry B H who ensures that the pace doesn’t dip, and above all, composer Vivek Sagar whose brilliant background score knows when to ebb and flow. The score adds to the narrative beautifully without overshadowing the proceedings.
Vikram Rudraraju (Vishwak Sen) is an intelligent and committed officer who’s also battling post traumatic stress, haunted by tragic incidents from the past. The gruesome things he witnesses during crime solving become triggers for panic attacks.
- Cast: Vishwak Sen, Ruhani Sharma
- Direction: Sailesh Konalu
- Music: Vivek Sagar
HIT explores why Vikram takes up the case of a missing girl, Preethi, and what it has to do with his own personal story. Vikram is advised against dealing with a case where someone close to him is at stake, as he might let emotions overrule intelligence, but it’s inevitable that Vikram gets to the bottom of the mystery.
In some of the recent thrillers where the plots are built around cases of missing women, the focus is on crime inflicted on women. HIT deviates from this trope and builds a complex web of incidents. At one point when Vikram says in frustration that though there are a handful of clues and suspects, nothing adds up, the tension is palpable.
In this non-linear narrative where Vikram’s past is revealed in flashes, Sailesh leaves it to you to interpret a few things and doesn’t spoon feed. He also makes you subconsciously piece together the puzzle along with Vikram and his aides, which in itself is the success of the thriller.
Vikram’s character sketch is also an intriguing one. Small incidents, presented with a dash of humour, establish what kind of a person he is — like the scene where a child who sells tea is counting money (probably to pay school fees) while his employer has been slapped, and the portion where Vikram rebukes a professor who comments about the degrading culture among students. The smaller sub plot of Vikram’s clash with a jealous colleague also fits in well.
The thriller is dotted with actors who are aptly cast for their different parts. Vishwak performs with a lot of conviction and this is his best so far. Ruhani is impressive in her limited portions. The role she’s given, at least in part one (oh yes, there’s HIT - case two coming up in 2021), is not an author backed one like in her debut film Chi La Sow , but she’s good as the forensic officer and as Vikram’s lady love, Neha. Newcomer Chaitanya as officer Rohit is apt too. Brahmaji, Bhanuchander, Hari Teja and Murali Sharma do their portions well.
The only grouse is with the big revelation in the climax. It could have been even better. The backstory of the culprit is believable and there are no obvious loopholes, and yet, it felt a little underwhelming. A well-constructed thriller such as this one had the potential to end on a high note, with a climax that can knock your socks off.
HIT deserves a thumbs up. It hasn’t revealed all its cards, so here’s looking forward to part two.

AnnaSophia Robb talks about Netflix’s slow-burn action movie, Rebel Ridge
In Rebel Ridge , Shelby Springs’ police officers will learn the hard way to never mess with a former Marine on a mission. Terry Richmond (Aaron Pierre), the soldier in question, is biking into the town to post bail for his cousin when the cops unfairly hit him from behind and seize his life’s savings. Terry attempts to report the crime, but he’s turned away by the corrupt police chief, Sandy Burnne (Don Johnson).
Forced to take matters into his own hands, Terry finds an ally in court clerk Summer McBride (AnnaSophia Robb), who offers advice on how to help his cousin. When the authorities fail him, Terry takes the law into his own hands. Written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier, Rebel Ridge is a grounded thriller that feels like the 1980s and 1990s action movies so many people grew up on. Rebel Ridge’s themes of injustice and corruption resonate with many people in this country.
In an interview with Digital Trends, Robb spoke about her journey with the character of Summer, how she used dialogue as a weapon, and her responsibility to a film that tackles serious issues.
Note: This article has been edited for length and clarity .
Digital Trends: With all the recastings and delays, you’ve been with this character for three years. That’s such a long time. How are you feeling, now that it’s ready to come out?
AnnaSophia Robb: I’m so thrilled that Rebel Ridge is coming out now , and I can’t wait for people to see it. I’m so proud of it. There are three different movies that were made. It’s the one that’s written, the one that’s shot, and then the one that actually comes out in the edit. This is the same film all the way through, which is a testament to Jeremy Saulnier, our fantastic writer-director. I mean, he’s an auteur filmmaker, and I treasure him so much. I think he’s one of my favorite people I’ve ever had the privilege of working with.
The script that I read transfixed me. I wanted to make it so badly. And then, when I was able to see the film a couple of weeks ago, after all this time, I felt such immense joy because it was exactly the script that I had read, watched, and acted in. I watched Aaron perform all these stunts. It turned out so well. I’m really proud of what he and everybody made.
I feel like there’s this shift halfway through, where the first half is this outlaw man on a mission, and then the second half becomes a two-hander with you and Aaron teaming up to tackle corruption. We see the hand-to-hand action. What I found interesting is how the dialogue acted like a weapon. I look at your scene with Aaron and James Cromwell. You’re not holding a gun, but everything you say is like a bullet to the chest. Did you have conversations with Aaron and Jeremy about how to weaponize the dialogue and elevate it to another level?
Thank you so much for asking that question and pointing that out. I completely agree with you. I think the dialogue in this film is so smart, and it is a weapon. Jeremy was really thoughtful about that because, in this film, even though there are a lot of guns present, our heroes never actually shoot any weaponry, like live weapons. The way that Jeremy constructs a scene, he uses the words to uncover, to unveil, to rip back. I think so much of language, especially in movies, is filler, and it feels like there is not a wasted line in this movie.
To read a script as an actor and go, “OK. How do I break this down? What are all these different beat points? How do I walk into this scene thinking that I’m going to turn my back and walk right out, and by the end of the scene, I’ve decided to commit my life to help this man and put everything on the line?” It’s really about taking a microscope at each line and figuring out what these characters are thinking. How is Summer weighing the pros and cons? How is she thinking about her past? How is she thinking about her future?
Jeremy was supremely helpful. It’s so natural to him. He’s created this story. He knows it back to front, sideways, upside down. If I had any questions or any concerns, like if it didn’t quite make sense to me, he was always right there to go, “Oh, I’m thinking this.” If I had an idea, he’d be like, “Yeah. We can pivot to that.” He knows the truth points of each character. I felt that really calmed me as an actor because I knew that I was in good hands.
And to your point, the scene with James Cromwell, for me, was a heartbreaking scene. That’s like a giant breakup scene. It’s a weapon, but it’s also this massive betrayal. I think of it like Jenga . We have all these building blocks. She’s [Summer] starting to pull them all apart, and the building fully crumbles. Her worldview fully falls apart.
When you put the picture down and say your wife wanted to watch, I’m like, “Whoa. That was the kill shot.”
Yeah, that was the kill shot. Yes, exactly. [laughs]
When you were cast, you put up an Instagram post and said that tackling a film like Rebel Ridge, one about systemic injustice, is a privilege you do not take for granted. Although this film isn’t based on a true story, it has themes of corruption and malpractice. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t surprise anyone to read in the news that something like this happened. As an actor, what is your responsibility to a film with these real-life themes?
I wish more films were made like this. I think when I read this script, I wanted to be part of it so badly. I love fantasy. I grew up in the age of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. However, [we’re] telling stories that are very true to what’s happening in real life. Civil asset forfeiture is a real thing that affects a lot of people. It is widely controversial. That’s the reason why Jeremy picked this topic. Both sides know and recognize that it’s a problem.
As an actor, I have the privilege of being cast and telling this story with great filmmakers and tremendous actors. I think Aaron is so phenomenally talented, as are David Denman, Don Johnson, James Cromwell, Steve Zissis, Emery Cohen, and Zsane Jhe. Everybody brings their all.
I feel like our responsibility as actors is just to tell the story, [and] to tell what is on the page in the most truthful, real way. It’s to do the work, to prepare, [and] to understand. It’s to be on the same page and collaborate so that it isn’t a selfish environment. It’s one of collaboration.
We’re all pushing this boulder up the mountain and doing our best. Ultimately, it’s a testament to Jeremy to craft this film and deliver it. Then, it’s also really cool that Netflix is telling this story and that it’s going to be on a global platform that people are able to see, not just in America, but all over the world. The biggest honor, for me, is that this is an American story. But I also think it’s a universal story because it’s about individuals seeing injustice and realizing they can choose to do the right thing.
Rebel Ridge is now on Netflix .

A new month means new movies on Hulu, and that's good news for anyone who would rather stay at home and stream a few films instead of going out to the theaters. For the first full weekend of September, Hulu doesn't have any truly big movies to offer viewers. But there are a handful that we've selected as our three Hulu movies that you need to stream this weekend.
Our current picks include Steven Spielberg's most recent sci-fi flick, a rom-com that's celebrating its 25th anniversary, and perhaps the most ridiculous movie that Michael Bay has ever directed. Ready Player One (2018)

Terrifier 3 Looks Like It Delivers On The Scariest Movie Yet Promise
Fast & furious 11’s surprising character return means this dominic toretto crossover can finally happen, the 10 coolest monster designs in godzilla's movies.
Although Terrifier 2 substantially improved upon Terrifier ’s reception, Terrifier 3 will have a hard time replicating this success thanks to numerous factors. 2016’s Terrifier was not a mainstream breakout hit for director Damian Leone. Earning 57% on RottenTomatoes , the intensely dark, brutal slasher earned around $400,000 upon release according to BoxOfficeMojo . However, the 2022 sequel to Leone’s killer clown horror was another story. Terrifier ’s modest success resulted in an Indiegogo campaign that funded Terrifier 2 which, alongside the support of BloodyDisgusting , brought the sequel’s budget up to $250,000. Terrifier 2 went on to earn over $15 million.
Terrifier 3 promises to be the scariest movie in the slasher series, bringing back the suspense and tension from Art the Clown's earlier outings.
While Terrifier 2 ’s ending left the door open for another installment, its reception made a sequel inevitable. Terrifier 2 was a bonafide sleeper hit, earning an incredible sum despite its limited release and even winning over critics. Since Terrifier 2 ’s success was so unprecedented, many mainstream publications neglected to even review Leone’s sequel. As a result, Terrifier 2 earned a superb 86% RottenTomatoes rating. Although 2024’s upcoming Terrifier 3 will want to build on this success, viewers expecting a repeat performance should note that the slasher’s predecessor benefited from a few unique circumstances.
Terrifier 3 Won't Have Terrifier 2's Sleeper Hit Status
Terrifier 2 was a surprise success upon release.
Many of Terrifier 2 ’s positive reviews highlighted the indie movie’s underdog origins and its low budget , since these elements make its unlikely success all the more impressive. However, Terrifier 3 won’t share these qualities. Terrifier 3 ’s bigger budget means that audience expectations will grow in proportion, which may hurt the movie’s reception. While 1999’s seminal found footage classic The Blair Witch Project was a critical hit, its sequels Book of Shadows and Blair Witch were both critically dismissed. Terrifier 3 may suffer a similar fate thanks to hype backlash.
Terrifier 3 can simply act as a bigger, bloodier, more ambitious extension of the first two movies in the series.
In fairness to the killer clown franchise, Terrifier doesn’t share one issue the Blair Witch series faced. While that franchise had to either replicate the first movie’s format or give up on its found footage style, Terrifier 3 can simply act as a bigger, bloodier, more ambitious extension of the first two movies in the series. Terrifier 2 made Art the Clown’s lore more complicated and spent more time introducing its victims, but the movie retained Terrifier’ s basic setup. Both Terrifier movies follow Art on a vicious killing spree and a Final Girl in her attempts to stop him.
Terrifier 3 Arrives Burdened With Audience Expectations
Terrifier 3 is expected to tie the trilogy together.
Admittedly, Terrifier 3 ’s story can’t be as loose as the diffuse plot of Terrifier 2 thanks to its status as the trilogy’s closing chapter. Whereas Terrifier 2 was free to experiment, Terrifier 3 will be burdened with audience expectations. Viewers expect boundary-pushing gore, but also some more clarification on the link between Art and Sienna’s father and potentially even an explanation of Art’s supernatural powers. Terrifier 3 ’s ending has to tie the franchise together, whereas the first two movies in the series were content to simply chronicle the killer’s gruesome antics. This loose structure facilitated many memorable chases and murders.
This isn’t necessarily a problem, but it does mean the filmmakers will need to focus on character and plot more than ever. To its credit, Terrifier 2 established clearer links between Art and its lead characters than Terrifier , where Art’s choice of victims was seemingly rooted in random chance. The original movie saw Art indiscriminately slaughter everyone he came across, including the movie’s apparent Final Girl. In contrast, Terrifier 2 set up Lauren LaVera’s Sienna as its heroine and built a clear connection between her and Art, making her fate more compelling. However, Terrifier 3 will need to do more.
Terrifier 2's Success Puts A Mainstream Spotlight On Terrifier 3
Many mainstream outlets didn’t even review terrier 2.
To impress mainstream critics, Terrifier 3 will need to introduce more believable characters, clearer stakes, and a more cohesive storyline t han its predecessors. While most major publications ignored Art the Clown ’s movies until 2022, the wide release and massive marketing campaign for Terrifier 3 ensures that all eyes will be on the killer clown when his third outing hits cinemas. The backlash to the highly hyped series could hurt Terrifier 3 ’s reception, but there is also a bigger problem. Namely, a lot of major mainstream outlets who didn’t even review the first two movies will be spotlighting this sequel.
Variety ’s largely negative write-up of the sequel could potentially set the tone for mainstream critical reactions.
RogerEbert.com , The New York Times , Empire Magazine , The AVClub , and many other mainstream movie magazines never even reviewed Terrifier 2 , and Variety ’s largely negative write-up of the sequel could potentially set the tone for their reactions. Thanks to the franchise’s boundary-pushing content and its self-conscious disregard for acting and storytelling, the Terrifier movies were never likely to find much purchase with critics. Terrifier 2 ’s incredible RottenTomatoes rating may have been shaped by the movie’s success among established horror fans and reviewers, rather than mainstream critics. One review of Terrifier 2 provides some evidence for this theory.
Terrifier 2’s Few Mainstream Reviews Look Bad For Terrifier 3
Variety bemoaned terrifier 2’s features not its bugs.
In his thoughtful Variety review of Terrifier 2 , Owen Gleiberman questioned the purpose of the franchise’s extreme, graphic carnage. Gleiberman situated Terrifier 2 in the tradition of Herschel Gordon Lewis’ early splatter films and the “ Scuzzy ” grindhouse milieu of the ‘70s, but criticized the validity of gory shock value for its own sake. Per the critic, “ Terrifier 2 puts sadism front and center ” without even the pretence of providing more than this. While this is a valid observation, it points out a feature of the movies, not a bug. Terrifier 2 , and its predecessor, are conscious exercises in depravity.
Terrifier 2 's 86% RottenTomatoes rating represented a 29% jump up from Terrifier 's 57% rating.
Although Terrifier 3 might be 2024’s scariest movie , it is unlikely that mainstream critics will give Art the Clown his flowers any time soon. No matter how accomplished David Howard Thornton’s performance as the villain is or how much Leone’s directorial skill has improved since the last outing, it is the nature of the Terrifier franchise’s specific contours that put off many reviewers. Simply put, a lot of critics can’t stomach the thought of recommendig any of the Terrifier movies, regardless of their technical merit, so Terrifier 3 managing to replicate Terrifier 2 ’s success seems vanishingly unlikely.

Manmarziyaan Movie Review: Like love, This Film Is Messy And Flawed And Glorious
Director: Anurag Kashyap
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal
Love, it is often said, is a many splendored thing. In Manmarziyaan , director Anurag Kashyap and writer and creative producer Kanika Dhillon offer us a deep-dive into this splendor. We see various shades of love – the volcanic relationship between Vicky and Rumi, a couple that has little control on their hormones, emotions or tongues. Their love hurtles like a wild horse, unmindful of the damage it is wrecking. We see the more expansive love that Robbie has for Rumi – a feeling so strong that he is willing to absorb the pain of her loving another man. And we have the relationship of Robbie and Rumi – slow and eventually simmering with depth and an understanding that comes from having your heart broken.
Anurag, Hindi cinema's high priest of darkness, turns his ferocious gaze on relationships. Obviously then, this is not the routine Bollywood meet cute followed by first-world complications scenario. Vicky and Rumi are already in the throes of a grand passion when we meet them. She is headstrong, manipulative and as Robbie describes her, a dayan. Vicky is the local wastrel. Sandhu da puttar, whose life is propelled by his desire for Rumi. Our first visual of Vicky is him leaping across roofs to be with Rumi. We are told that they are the only two people in Amritsar with dyed hair – his is blue, hers is red. They look at each other with hunger and abandon. Their love is throbbing, destructive but also magnificently alive.

The first half of Manmarziyaan is absolute magic. Anurag and Kanika create a fully realized world that is fuelled by Amit Trivedi's pulsating soundtrack. My favourites are 'Dhayaanchand' and 'Daryaa'. The songs are woven into scenes. They underline emotions and remind us that even though the material is sunnier, we are still in an Anurag Kashyap universe – twin sisters, who function as stylized, silent witnesses become a recurring trope .
But the style would be hollow without the brilliant performances of Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. She is mercurial and mysterious and maddening. With her cloud of red hair enveloping her, Rumi seems, continually to be a woman on a warpath. And Vicky – both the actor and character – matches her every beat. Watch his expressions in scenes where Rumi is trying to scream sense into him. He says nothing but his eyes register his confusion, hurt and longing. You feel that you've glimpsed into his soul.
But the magic takes a hit post-interval. Robbie, by design, is silent and sacrificing. He is the mature, wise foil to the follies of Rumi and Vicky. It's a complex, unflashy character who descends from a line of sacrificing partners in Hindi cinema – Dr. Anand in Woh Saat Din , Vanraj in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and to some extent, Vijay Khanna in Kabhi Kabhie . This is a man so understanding that his wife asks him – tum insaan ke roop mein devtaa ho ya devta ke roop mein insaan. Rumi also calls Robbie 'Ram ji types'. Their relationship naturally is staid but the trouble is that here the film also becomes less adventurous. It's nice to see Abhishek Bachchan on screen after two years. He has a wise weariness in his eyes that befits Robbie. But the scenes become repetitive and drawn-out. For years, I've exited Anurag's films raging with frustration and wondering why he inevitably becomes indulgent. Manmarizyaan is no different. He's so damn talented but he doesn't know when to stop.
Like love, this film is messy and flawed and glorious. You have to sign up for all of it. I'm going with three and a half stars.

On the whole, Dunki is a hit fare. It will have a reasonably long run at the cinemas as business in the weekends after the initial week or two will be very good on the strength of family and class audience.

In the 161-minute run-time of the Rajkumar Hirani film, I was hard put to find anything that made me feel. Even Shah Rukh Khans Hardy comes off as working too hard for not enough pay-off. his vaunted first collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani is mostly a crashing bore
Ratings: 2.5/5 Review By: Sukanya Site:Rediff
Dunki wants to make a case for desperate, needy folks from small towns and villages running off to first world countries in search of better prospects, but in his preoccupation with ’90s style sitcom humour and excessive schmaltz, he cannot establish a solid reason for us to feel bad about the situation or root for its motley bunch.

Concluding my review, Dunki is an emotional drama that will surely hit all the right notes. Even though the story seemed a little dragged in some parts, Shah Rukh Khans performance takes over everything. It is all about SRK and he demands all the right attention. Whereas Vicky Kaushal also shines in his cameo role and will steal your heart with his strong performance.

Hirani is known to keep things simple. This benefits and in certain ways impacts the film as well. When the film works, it does with great merit, spunk, and surprise. When it does not, it meanders into a trap that is hard to come out of. But in a time when action entertainers and spy films are very much in vogue, Dunki breaks the monotony and comes as a gush of fresh air. It is heartwarming, cheering, and uplifting reminds you, Sab changa hai.

‘Dunki’ is a film about unfulfilled aspirations and reaching out for dreams beyond means and boundaries. Overall, ‘Dunki’ is a wholesome entertainer that’s rousing, relevant, romantic and about returning to your roots.

Dunki might not be Hiranis best work in comparison to 3 Idiots or PK, but it still entertains and leaves you with a warm and fuzzy feeling as you leave the theatre. Also, what better way to end the year than to have SRK charm you on the silver screen once again

Overall, Dunki is a film that leaves you with a tearful smile. And if you couldn’t watch Animal with your families for the glorified violence, you must check out Dunki for it’s an absolute family entertainer and will be an emotional riot.

All said and done, Dunki has its share of shortcomings and positives. Its not the cinematic magic I expected from the duo of Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani. I wish the duo work together in the future but with a better story and execution.

In conclusion, Dunki stands as a cinematic triumph, showcasing Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial brilliance. The film’s seamless blend of genres, coupled with Shah Rukh Khan’s unparalleled performance, propels it into the realm of cinematic excellence. From the laughter-infused first half to the emotionally charged second act, Dunki is an immersive journey that captivates audiences, making it essential viewing for both fans and cinephiles. Rajkumar Hirani, once again, asserts his mastery in storytelling, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of Indian cinema with this groundbreaking film.
