Before you interview, it's essential to draft a great cover letter that shows off your skills and what you'll bring to the job. We'll help you write one that'll catch any hotel employer's eye, from researching the hotel to opening and closing your letter.

How do you write an application letter for a hotel job?

  • Start your letter with your contact information. Then, introduce yourself and say why you want to work at the hotel.
  • Include any relevant skills or experience from your resume in your cover letter, emphasizing those found in the job description.
  • Close the letter by thanking the hiring staff for their time, and reiterating your enthusiasm for the position.

Step 4 Research the hotel.

Step 3 Add the company's contact information.

  • As an example, you could write, "My name is Joe Jeffries, and I heard about this front desk position on Indeed.com. I'm excited to be applying for it, as I have read how much Rattle Hotels values customer service and I am a people-person who loves putting the customer first."
  • This paragraph, as well as the last paragraph, are good places to include bits of information connected to what you found out about the culture. For instance, if you noticed that the people working at the hotel are close-knit, you could write, "I can see your hotel values its employees, as well, and I look forward to working with this great group of people."

Step 2 Lay out your skills to show your relevancy.

  • For instance, maybe you've noted that one of the required skills is interpersonal skills. You could write, "In the past, I've worked with many different types of people at a variety of retail jobs, which helped to develop my interpersonal skills. Step 3 Include the keywords.

  • As an example, you could write, "I have noticed that you encourage a professional culture, and my experience as a front desk clerk in Regalia Hotels has given me the needed experience to be the professional you need at the front desk. I would be a good fit for your hotel, and I request that you give me the chance to prove that in person at an interview."

Step 2 Thank the person for his or her time.

You can find the filing fee for Form I-131F by visiting our  Fee Schedule  page. There is no fee waiver available for Form I-131F.

Starting Aug. 19, 2024, you may file Form I-131F, Application for Parole in Place for Certain Noncitizen Spouses and Stepchildren of U.S. Citizens, online with the applicable filing fee. There is no fee waiver available for Form I-131F.

Each requestor, including noncitizen stepchildren, must file a separate Form I-131F requesting parole in place, and each requestor must have their own USCIS online account. A parent or legal guardian may create an online account for their minor child if the purpose is to submit a form on behalf of the minor. If a parent or legal guardian is not available, a primary caregiver or legal assistance provider may also help a child create their own USCIS online account. How to Apply - PhD in Social Work

The application for the Summer 2025 cohort is open.  Click the yellow Apply Now button in the bottom right corner to begin your application.

Admission to the PhD program is a highly selective process. The admissions committee selects up to seven students every other year that have:

  • Clear interest in developing theory, policy, and research skills in a substantive area relevant to the field of social work
  • A superior academic record in all previous work
  • The maturity, intellectual ability, and readiness for doctoral study

A completed application includes:

1) Garland School of Social Work (GSSW) Required Statistics Exam

  • The statistics exam is required in order for an application to be considered complete. The GRE is not required.
  • Applicants must complete the exam with an earned grade of B or better .
  • Applicants are allowed only two attempts  to earn the required score on the exam.
  • There are modules that can be used as a refresher for students prior to taking the exam. The modules and exam are  free  for students.

2) Personal statement

A personal statement of 7-10 pages that:

  • explains your motivation for and expectations of doctoral education in social work
  • includes particular assets that you would bring to the school and to the profession, as well as areas in which you would most like to grow academically and professionally
  • specifies your areas of academic and research interest
  • briefly describes your understanding of the integration of faith and ethical social work practice, supported by existing literature

3) Sample of Scholarly Writing

A sample (not exceeding 25 pages) of a recent, single or co-authored work of scholarly writing that provides evidence of your capacity to think analytically and critically about a social welfare issue. The following are examples of appropriate submissions:

  • published article
  • book chapter
  • other excerpts
  • unpublished research report
  • a paper written in a graduate-level course
  • grant application

4) Resume or Curriculum Vitae

This should include a list of publications and professional presentations.

5) Three letters of recommendation

At least two recommendations should come from faculty who can attest to the applicant’s superior ability and potential. A third recommendation should come from a supervisor, director or someone that can provide insight into the applicant's ability and achievement in social work.

6) Degree Bearing Transcripts from Previously Attended Universities

A Master of Social Work from a CSWE accredited program is preferred but not required. Applicants without an MSW will be considered if they have exceptionally strong credentials, a master's degree in a related field, and experience working in social service settings. Exceptions may also be made for applicants from countries without university accreditation but with exceptionally strong credentials.

The Graduate School requires applicants to submit transcripts from every institution which has granted a bachelor's degree and higher. Transcripts should indicate the degree granted. If the transcript does not list the degree and date conferred, applicants must also submit a proof of degree (certificate, diploma, etc.).
